        영한 기계번역을 위한 구구조 규칙의 수립 : 병렬 복합어 어순을 중심으로 Concentrating on the Ordering of Frozen Pairs

        The purpose of the study is to present Linear Precedence statements of English and Korean "frozen pairs" in the sense of GPSG, which is vital to English-Korean machine translation. The ordering of frozen pairs of both languages was contrasted with each other on the basis of semantic correspondence, whose results are expected to reveal important clues of human cognitive systems as well as to contribute to seeking linguistic universals. One major problem in the course of contrastive analysis works is how to handle the lexical disparates between English and Korean, due to different social and cultural backgrounds. To make it more objective, the study mainly deals with semantically equivalent "frozen, pairs" from both languages, ineluding the ones whose semantic categories are similar each to each in a broader sense. The study also deals with the vocabularies with Chinese etymology which are now being used like those of Korean originals. The study results can be summarized as follows: 1. Generally speaking, the ordering of frozen pairs of both languages seems to conform to "Me-first Principle" by Cooper & Ross, arguing that Me is a male adult human who is located in space and time at the speech event. 2. The semantic factors which show prominent ordering contrasts between the two languages belong to the following categories : Time vs. Space, Right vs. Left, Upper vs. Lower clothes, and Vertical vs. Horizontal. These contrasts seem to suggest that people process those dimensions differently from culture to culture, which is known to be as a "marked" phenomenon. 3. The study reveals that, in both languages, positive elements precede negative elements in common, and their opposite odering can often be found when they are used within an emphasized context. 4. The study also shows that people tend to regard the following semantic categories as "unmarked" ; namely, Friendly, Up, Front, Internal, Singular, Solid, Large, Long, and Strong, upon which human value systems and thinking processes seem to be based. 5. The simply juxtaposed expressions with unknown semantic causes are possible to be analyzed through phonological rules by Ross(1982). It seems, however, that semantic rules tend, to override phonological rules, and the latter seems to be more appropiate for explaining the ordering of twin words. Further studies are needed particulary on how to determine the semantic categories of frozen paires in details in order for this sort of study to be carried out more effectively.

        19mm 밀입도 아스팔트 혼합물의 소성변형 예측 모델 개발

        Permanent Deformation is one of the most important load-related pavement distresses in asphalt pavements. The Korean Pavement Design Guide currently being developed adopted the mechanistic-empirical approach and needed the pavement distress prediction models. This study intends to develop the model for prediction of permanent deformation in the asphalt layer and estimate the pavement performance. The objectives of this paper are to figure out the factors affecting the permanent deformation and then develop the permanent deformation prediction model for asphalt mixtures. The repeated triaxial load test was performed on the 19mm dense graded asphalt mixture with variation of temperature and air void. Results from the laboratory tests showed that temperature and air void in asphalt mixtures have significantly influenced on the factors in prediction model. The permanent deformation prediction model for 19mm dense grade asphalt mixtures has been developed using the multiple regression approach and validated the proposed permanent deformation prediction model . 아스팔트 포장에서 소성변형은 교통하중에 의해 발생하는 가장 심각한 파손중의 하나이다. 현재 개발 중인 한국형 포장 설계법은 역학적-경험적 설계법으로 다양한 포장 파손 예측모델을 필요로 한다. 이 연구는 포장설계시 아스팔트층에서 발생하는 소성변형량을 예측할 수 있는 모델을 개발하여 포장의 공용성을 규명하고자 하였다. 본 논문은 아스팔트 혼합물의 소성변형에 영향을 미치는 인자를 규명하고, 소성변형 예측 모델을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 3단계 온도, 공극률을 조합한 19mm 밀입도 혼합물에 대하여 삼축압축 반복재하시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 혼합물의 온도와 공극률이 소성변형 예측 모델 계수에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이에 근거하여 19mm 밀입도 아스팔트 혼합물에 대한 소성변형 예측식을 다중회귀분석을 통하여 개발하였으며, 개발된 모델을 검증하였다.

        Effect of a nutritional support protocol on enteral nutrition and clinical outcomes of critically ill patients: a retrospective cohort study

        Background: Enteral nutrition (EN) supply within 48 hours after intensive care unit (ICU) admission improves clinical outcomes. The “new ICU evaluation & development of nutritional support protocol (NICE-NST)” was introduced in an ICU of tertiary academic hospital. This study showed that early EN through protocolized nutritional support would supply more nutrition to improve clinical outcomes.Methods: This study screened 170 patients and 62 patients were finally enrolled; patients who were supplied nutrition without the protocol were classified as the control group (n=40), while those who were supplied according to the protocol were classified as the test group (n=22).Results: In the test group, EN started significantly earlier (3.7±0.4 days vs. 2.4±0.5 days, P=0.010). EN calorie (4.0±1.0 kcal/kg vs. 6.7±0.9 kcal/kg, P=0.006) and protein (0.17±0.04 g/kg vs. 0.32±0.04 g/kg, P=0.002) supplied were significantly higher in the test group. Although EN was supplied through continuous feeding in the test group, there was no difference in complications such as feeding hold due to excessive gastric residual volume or vomit, and hyper- or hypo-glycemia between the two groups. Hospital mortality was significantly lower in the group that started EN within 1.5 days (42.9% vs. 11.8%, P=0.018). The proportion of patients who started EN within 1.5 days was higher in the test group (40.9% vs. 17.5%, P=0.044).Conclusions: The NICE-NST may improve EN supply and mortality of critically ill patients without increasing complications.

        등위접속구문의 핵어문법적 분석

        The purpose of the study is twofold. It aims to survey the existing theories of coordinate structures proposed by Transformational Grammar, GPSG, and HPSG, and also attempts to revise the Coordination Principle Ⅱ of HPSG proposed by Sag (2002), through not only adopting Sag's new proposal but introducing semantic and pragmatic elements to the principle. Sag (2002) partly modified his original assumption that "feature structures are to be totally well typed and sort-resolved", and made a new proposal that the head value of mother be constrained to be less -than- or-equal(≤)-to the HEAD value of each conjunct. This approach implies that feature structures do not have to be sort-resolved, which proves to be useful in dealing with the existing problems concerning the analyses of "unlike" coordinate structures. The study also argues that the Coordinate Principle Ⅱ of MPSG needs to be modified by incorporating semantic and pragmatic factors in addition to the syntactic ones.

        실대형 미세먼지 실증 인프라의 도로 환경구현을 위한 수치해석 연구

        PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to analyze the uniform diffusion mechanism of precursor gas species, and the effect of NOx reduction technology in a full-scale particulate matter testing facility, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). METHODS : A full-scale environment chamber was constructed to evaluate the effects of particulate matter reduction technologies on the road. CFD analysis was conducted to simulate the road environment conditions in the chamber, and investigate the effect of the NOx removal panel. The time required to reach the NOx concentration to target value in the fluid field was determined at a given inflow velocity, inlet direction, and initial inflow concentration. The effect of the NOx removal panel, and solar energy on the reduction characteristics of the NOx concentration in the environment chamber was analyzed. RESULTS : The inflow velocity was determined to be the major factor affecting the time required to reach a uniform target NOx concentration in the environment chamber. The inlet location in the transverse direction requires additional time to approach the uniform target concentration, than the longitudinal direction at the same inflow velocity. Based on the CFD analysis in the 1ppm concentration condition of the chamber, a two-fold increase in the NOx removal panel efficiency can reduce the time to target concentration by approximately 50%. It is also observed that a 20% increase in solar energy can decrease the time to target concentration by 4%–12% depending on the panel efficiency. CONCLUSIONS : This study proved that a full-scale environment chamber can be effectively utilized to evaluate the particulate matter reduction technologies applied in road facilities
