특수장서 연구: 대학도서관을 중심으로

문제해결에 필요한 정보를 도서관 종합목록이나 온라인 데이터베이스 등을 탐색해 보아도 얻지 못할 경우 어떤 특정기관에 소장되어있는 특수장서에 눈을 돌려야 한다. 많은 도서관에서 다른 곳에서는 구할 수 없는 독특한 정보원으로 구축된 특수장서를 운영하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 문헌조사와 인터넷 검색을 통해 특수장서의 중요성, 역사, 이용방법, 국내외 대학의 특수장서 상황을 조사하여 특수장서구축의 필요성을 제시하고, 대학도서관의 특수장서개발 사례로서 한국여성저작정보센터의 여성장서구축을 소개하고자 한다. If you can not pinpoint the location of a desired item through union catalogs and online databases, the next best thing is to identify a special collection that is likely to have it. Many libraries have many items that are recorded only on their own premises as special collections. This paper describes the value of special collections as important information sources and the guides for determining the existence and location of special collections. Women's collection development by KWIC is introduced as a case study of special collection building in the university libraries in Korea.

Reference services are regarded as a major aspect of librarianship. It is important to understand what the basic functions of reference services are in order to perform right librarianship on reader service. the three basic functions of reference services are instruction, guidance and information. Instruction is helping users learn the skills they need to find and use materials and information. Guidance is assisting users to choose material appropriate to their educational, informational, or recreational needs. Informational is finding needed information for the user or assisting in finding such information. this paper will view historical background and trend of these three basic functions of reference service in American libraries, to prepare right reference librarianship in Korean libraries, hoping that this paper will suggest the nature of the theoretical foundations needed for reference services.

Nowadays women`s collection development is very popular throughout the world. In Korea several universities have developed women`s collection for the women`s studies and gender study courses. In the United States and in other western countries about 150 women`s collection have been developed and digital projects of women`s works were undertaken by Brown University in USA and Alberta University in Canada. All of these represent how important and valuable the women`s collection is for academic research. In this paper the well-known women`s collections and the KWIC(Korean Women`s Writings and Works Information Center) project are introduced. KWIC was established in 1999 by SWU with thr financial support from the United Board for Christian Education in Asia.

학교도서관 미디어전문가를 위한 교수매체 선정기준 연구

The school library media specialists offer the users assistance in using information resources and instructional media by assessing, evaluating and selecting the most appropriate materials for the present educational situation in school. The format of the information media and the scope of the media center collection have constantly been changed by information technology. Media specialist has to know the selection criteria to be capable of providing any media format in the technological society, particularly of providing instruction software(courseware), multimedia, hypermedia and digital reference service to maintain the school library media center as one of the user oriented educational information centers. This paper presents the selection criteria for the instruction media by media format as one of the useful guidelines to the media specialist. 학교도서관의 미디어전문가는 교육현장의 요구에 부응하여 학습목표 달성에 필수적으로 요청되는 학습자료와 교수매체를 조사, 평가, 선정하여 제공함으로써 정보전문가로서, 또 학습 상담자로서 주어진 역할을 완수할 수 있다. 사회변화와 정보기술 발달로 학교도서관 소장자료의 형태와 소장범위가 크게 달라지고 있는 현 상황에서 본 논문을 통해 제시된 유형별 교수매체 선정기준을 지침으로 삼아 미디어전문가는 다양하고도 엄청난 양의 정보매체 중에서 학습목표 달성에 필수적으로 요청되는 교수매체를 조직적으로 평가선정할 수 있을 것이다. 특히 그 중요성이 부각되고 있는 학습용 소프트웨어, 멀티미디어/하이퍼미디어에 대한 평가기준과 디지털 참고서비스의 질적기준은 교육정보화를 추진하고있는 국내 교육계의 요구에 맞추어 유용하고도 적절한 교수공학 매체를 선정할 수 있는 지침으로 활용될 수 있다.

많은 도서관에서 다른 곳에서 구할 수 없는 독특한 정보원으로 구축해놓은 특수장서를 운영하고 있다. 도서관에서 구축해놓은 특수장서는 귀중한 연구자료로 사용되며 또 이용자들을 위한 특화서비스에 활용되고 있다. 디지털시대를 맞아 독특하고 유일한 자료로 구축된 특수장서는 질적인 웹콘텐츠로 활용되고 있어서 도서관의 귀중한 자산으로 각광 받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내외 공공도서관에서 구축운영되는 특수장서 현황을 웹사이트 방문방법으로 조사하여 그 내용을 소개함으로써 국내 공공도서관에서 특수장서의 문화를 이해하고 특수장서 개발 구축에 참고하도록 하였다. There are many famous, well-known special collections built with unique and valuable materials in the libraries all around the world. These special collections are very important for the public and especially for the researchers. Digital access and the Web have altered the landscape of special collections and allowed increasing numbers of users to locate and access rare and valuable materials of special collections. This change has also affected libraries with the responsibility of building and managing special collections. The goal of this paper is to provide readers with insight into the culture of the special collection and to suggest good ideas for public libraries to build their special collections by introducing the special collection building cases in USA and Korea through investigating the public library websites.

온라인 자료의 인용 및 참고문헌 수록 양식과 국내 대학 및 학술잡지에서 사용하고 있는 인용 및 참고문헌 수록 양식 조사연구

현재 온라인 정보원을 이용하지 않을 수 없는 상황이 되고 있지만 이를 인용하는 방법과 참고문헌에 수록하는 양식이 국내에서는 아직 널리 소개되어 있지 않다. 특히 인터넷을 통해 얻은 자료를 논문에 인용하고 이를 다른 사람들이 찾아볼 수 있도록 참고문헌으로 제시하는 방법을 몰라서 어려움을 겪고 있는 상황이다. 본고에서는 연구논문이나 레포트를 쓸 때 참고할 수 있도록 미국 학계에서 많이 사용하고 있는 미국심리학괴(APA) 양식과 미국언어학회(MLA) 양식에 제시된 최근의 온라인 정보원의 인용 및 참고문헌 수록 방법을 조사하여 소개하였다. 또 국내 학계에서는 어떤 방식으로 온라인 정보원을 이용하고 이를 참고문헌으로 제시하는 지를 알아보기 위하여 대학요람에 실린 학위논문 작성 요령과 학회지에 실린 논문 투고 요령을 조사하였다. 1998년도까지 발행된 대학요람이나 학회지의 논문 투고 요령을 조사해 본 결과 온라인 자료의 인용 및 참고문헌 수록방법에 대해 언급한 곳은 없으며, 또한 전통적으로 많이 사용되고 있는 미국심리학회(APA) 양식, 시카고대학 양식(Chicago Manual of Style) 중 어느 하나를 정확하게 일관성있게 지키는 경우는 많지 않았다. 대부분의 경우 어떤 표준양식을 따르는 지를 알 수 없을 정도로 여러 양식을 혼합하여 사용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. Researchers commonly begin a project by studying past works in the area and deriving relevant information and ideas from their predecessors. In presenting their works researchers acknowledge their debts to preflecessors by carefully documenting each source to indicate what they borrowed. The obvious form of plagiarism is to cokx without crediting the sources. Students have to learn how to quote and how to make reference lists or works cited at the end of their reports which allow readers to locate and use the sources they used for their reports. Nowadays online information sources through the internet increase day by day, but there is no standard documentation style for citing these sources. In this paper up-to-date documentation styles recommened by APA(American Psychological Association) and MLA(Modern Language Association) are introduced. It was found that the graduate schools and the academic societies in Korea do not keep a certain documentation style consistently by checking the school catalogs and the policy statements on manuscript submisssion to the journals.

Translation has attained an important role in transmission and maintenance of human culture. As the world gets closer translation is regarded as one of the most useful means to carry knowledge and information through the language barrier. Translations of literary works in particular have been regarded as one of the most valuable means of helping people to understand and cooperate with one another in the interest of world peace. Korea has maintained a very close relationship with the United States of America since she first opened her door to the States in 1882. No one can deny that American has had a strong influence on Korean culture, politics, economics and education through the long close relationship between two countries. This study has been carried to find out how many and what American literary works have been introduced into Korea through translation from 1882 to 1982
