Terrain rendering plays an important role in many applications such as computer games, computer graphics, geographic information systems, and virtual reality. These applications require terrain navigation or fly-through in an interactive mode, but the original terrain data is usually too large to display interactively even though the performance of graphics hardwares has been greatly improved. Therefore, researchers have studied methods which reduce the amount of the original terrain data while retaining the quality of the terrain image. LOD(levels of detail) methods are an essential tool, which presents the near or important parts by a large number of small polygons, and the far or unimportant parts by a small number of large polygons. In this paper, we study terrain data representations and their corresponding LOD algorithms from the point of an effective view frustum culling.

Recently multimedia traffics have increased rapidly, and the data processing capacity of routers also has increased. Furthermore, various protocols have appeared since applications require different services. Therefore, open programmable interfaces are necessary to support various services dynamically. In this paper, we studied the open programmable interface that is applicable to IP routers, and designed an open programmable interface for IP routers to support the differentiated service.

The rapid proliferation of the Internet and the cost-effective growth of its key enabling technologies are revolutionizing information technology and creating unprecedented opportunities for developing large-scale distributed applications. At the same time, there is a growing concern over the security of Web-based applications. Although there has been phenomenal growth of Web-based applications on the Internet, access control issues related to Web security have largely been neglected. Several models have been proposed to address the access control requirements of distributed applications. Traditional access control models are broadly categorized as discretionary access control (DAC) and mandatory access control (MAC) models. Recently the role-based access control (RBAC) models have been proposed to address the security requirements of a wider range of applications. We present a comparative assessment of these models in terms of supporting Web-based applications. The RBAC models are expected to provide a viable framework for addressing a wide range of security requirements for large enterprises. We show how secure cookies support RBAC on the Web, and show that secure cookies can provide three types of security services: authentication, integrity, and confidentiality.

As the Internet becomes popular, online game industries are expanding rapidly, especially in Korea. The advance of technologies of real-time computer graphics and computer hardware makes it possible to realize 3D games, and 3D online games have become a major stream in the game industry in Korea. However, many game developing companies wants to make 3D games, but it is very difficult to find experts who can fulfill their tasks. Moreover, none of advanced companies wants to share their technologies with other companies. Now it is necessary to develop 3D game engines and distribute them to game developing companies at a low price so that they can focus on the game contents rather than game technologies. Online 3D engines consist of rendering engines, animation engines, sound engines, and server engines. In this paper, we study only server engines, that is, important issues in developing online 3D servers, and problems that may occur in distributed multiserver environments. We focus on scalibility issues because it is very critical for online 3D servers to accomodate as many users as possible.
입원환자 간호관리료 차등제 도입이후 간호사 확보수준의 변화

Purpose: To examine the changes in nurse staffing in hospitals after implementing the policy of differentiating inpatient nursing fees by staffing grades. Method: The study sample included 43 tertiary hospitals, 185 general hospitals, and 282 non-general hospitals that were operating in both 1999 and 2008. Nurse staffing grade was categorized from Grade 1 (highest) to 6 (lowest) in 1999 or Grade 7 in 2008, based on the nurse-to-bed ratio. Results: Tertiary hospitals at Grade 3 and Grade 4 accounted for 49% and 35%, respectively, in 2008, whereas 63% were Grade 6 in 1999. General hospitals at Grade 6 decreased from 87% to 48%. In non-general hospitals, little change was found in the staffing distribution, in that 92% still remained in Grade 6 or 7 in 2008. Forty tertiary hospitals (93%) and 45% of general hospitals improved their staffing grades, while only 7% of non-general hospitals did. Greater likelihood of improvement in staffing grades was found in general hospitals located in metropolitan areas or having 250 or more beds. Conclusion: Elaboration of the financial incentive system is needed to increase the policy impact on staffing improvement.
소아에서 치아 우식 경험과 새로운 치아 우식 활성 비색 검사

A new colorimetric test (Cariview ) using a new type of pH indicator can reflect the acidogenic potential ofplaque bacteria. The objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation between Cariview and the cariesexperience (measured through the dmft index) of children, and to compare Cariview with Dentocult SM . Having obtained informed consent, 135 children less than 6 years old participated in the study. We examinedtheir dmft index, and performed two caries activity tests (Cariview and Dentocult SM ) according to the manufacturers’instructions. In the results, Cariview showed a moderate correlation with the dmft index (r = 0.43, p < 0.01). Cariview showed a sensitivity of 68.8%, a specificity of 69.2%, and an area under curve of 0.686 in the ROC curve analysis. Cariview had a significant correlation with the children’s caries experience and had a slightly better explanatoryability than Dentocult SM . Furthermore, Cariview was convenient and easy to use on uncooperative children, and also had an educationaleffect with its visual colors. It is suggested that Cariview could be used clinically to identify the childrensusceptible to develop caries and to establish a preventive strategy 새로운 우식 활성 비색 검사인 Cariview 는 새로운 pH 지시약을 사용해서 치태 세균의 산 생산 능력을 더 잘 반영할 수있다. 본 연구는 소아에서 Cariview 와 치아 우식 경험(dmft index)과의 상관성을 평가하고, Cariview 를 Dentocult SM 과 비교할 목적으로 수행되었다. 만5세 이하 135명의 소아를 대상으로 dmft를 기록했으며, Cariview 와 Dentocult SM 두 가지 우식 활성 검사를 제조사 지시에 따라 시행하였다. 그 결과, Cariview 는 소아의 치아 우식 경험과 중등도의 상관관계를 보였다(r = 0.43, p < 0.01). 치아 우식증 예측에있어 Cariview 는 민감도 68.8%, 특이도 69.2%, ROC 곡선 분석의 곡선하면적(AUC) 0.686으로 Dentocult SM 에 비해 양호한 수치를 보였다. Cariview 는 비협조적인 어린이에게도 시행이 쉽고 편리하며 시각적인 색상으로 나타나 구강위생교육 도구로서 가치가있다.
