The annular space in an annular heat pipe increases the capillary sorption limit which is donimant among various limits by which the maximum heat transfer rate is determined. The equation of the capillary sorption limit for horizontal operation is derived from the Navier Stokes equation and Darcy's law by neglecting inertia terms and the gravity effect. A 120 cm-ling annular heat pipe which consists of 100 mesh stainless steel screen and copper tube with water as the working fluid is made for experiment. Comparison of the experimental data with the analytical results is in a good agreement and shows the possibility of applications of the annular heat pipe and some problems for further study.
This paper reports the results of the experiment and numerical analysis about the behavior of the cylindrical tank loaded near the fillet weld toe by applying the moment to the in-plane of the T-section, Presupposing an abnormal loading. 1. The strain and stress are locally concentrated near the weld toe, and the stress is 61.91㎏/㎟ more than the yield stress 55㎏/㎟ when loading point displacement δ is 0.47㎜, and the strain is about 4.8 times as much as the yield strain when is 1.2㎜. 2. The stress and strain concentration factor of the elasto-plastic condition satisfies approximately the formula of Neuber's ?? in the range of the small displacement. 3. The plastic region of the annular plate is produced near the weld toe and, as the load increases, grows toward the center from the upper and lower surface and forms the plastic hinge at a plane a little distant from the weld toe.
The oil shortage struck, and furture costs of energy suddenly made wind power look feasible. The purpose of this study is to develop wind energy conversion system as a new source of energy for water pumpting. In this study, we designed and made two stages Savonius Rotor which lends itself to water pumping for irrigation in under developed areas due to its low initial cost, simplicity of materials and construction and low maintenance cost. We investigated wind data for the cost lands and islands to provide basis of the windmill design.
