선박 침몰 원인의 규명 방식에 관한 연구 - 홍길동호 침몰 사건을 중심으로 -

해상에서 특정 선박이 원인불명으로 침몰한 경우 그 침몰 원인의 규명은 그리 간단한 일이 아니다. 침몰 원인을 규명하기 위해서는 과적 여부, 출항시의 복원성, 타 선박 또는 타 물체와의 충돌 가능성 등을 우선 검토하여야 하며 2007년의 탱커선 홍길동호 사건과 같이 짧은 시간에 침몰한 선박에 대한 원인을 규명하기 위해서는 악천후로 인한 선체의 손상 가능성, 악천후로 인한 화물의 이동에 의한 흘수의 변화 가능 성, 외부로 통하는 수밀문 개폐여부, 화물창 덮게 장금장치 고정 상태, 탱크 맨홀 카버 수밀 상황, 화물탱크 클리닝 홀의 개방에 의한 해수의 침 입 가능성, 화물 혹은 기타 탱크 폭발에 의한 선체파손 등을 검토하여야 한다. 본 연구는 필자가 탱커선 홍길동호의 침몰원인을 규명하는 과정 에서 정립된 침몰사고 원인규명의 기본 틀을 체계적으로 정리하여 추후 유사사고의 조사·심판에 도움이 됨은 물론 본 사건의 교훈을 살펴봄으 로써 유사사고의 재발 방지에 도움이 되고자 한다. It is not easy to find out the cause of ship's sinking. The Cause of vessel sinking could be found or presumed by investigating the ship's loading condition, ship's stability, the possibility of collision, intruding of seas, explosion and others. This paper is to arrange the method to find out the cause of vessel sinking. And by analyzing the cause of sinking of M/T Hongkildong, this paper is also to provide the lessons to prevent the ship's sinking.
Syllable contact and epenthesis in Yakut loanword phonology

Consonant clusters tend to be reduced by deletion or repaired by epenthesis during the process of inter-language change. Yakut (or Sakha), the language of the Republic of Sakha, Russia, follows this general tendency. Since Yakut allows only one consonant in the syllable-initial position, all clusters in the Russian loan words into Yakut are reduced either by deletion or epenthesis. This paper examines this phenomenon and proposes the following. First, Yakut loanword adaptation can best be analyzed by adopting the split structure for sC sequence. Second, assuming the split sC structure, the /s + stop/ sequence does not violate the Syllable Contact Law (SCL). Third, the SCL applies only to sC clusters, but not to CC clusters. Fourth, CC clusters, but not sC sequences, are true onset clusters and have to break up in accordance with Yakut syllable structure. Finally, the single-member syllable with /s/ as coda needs a vowel as nucleus in Yakut loanword adaptation. Since /s/ is coda, edge epenthesis is the only possible repair strategy.

The growth of perovskite oxide films is known to be strongly influenced by both substrate surface lattice symmetry and stoichiometry. However, this has been postulated mainly based on indirect evidences. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is unambiguously capable of identifying the real-space distribution of the structural and electronic properties of solid surfaces. Therefore, oxide film growth technologies combined with STM are strongly desirable for resolving atomic-scale growth mechanisms of perovskite thin films. Here, we review recent advances in STM studies on initial growth stages of perovskite oxides on SrTiO3(001). First, we introduce surface terminations and reconstructions of SrTiO3(001), as well as their influence on the initial growth of perovskite films studied by STM on an atomic-scale, followed by a discussion of a feasible model for the surface atomic structures and chemistries behind such growth behaviors. We then introduce studies on the growth dynamics of perovskite oxides on SrTiO3(001) in terms of temperature (T) and thickness-resolved STM: (1) Layer-by-layer identification of T-dependent surface structures of ultrathin SrRuO3, suggesting a dramatic change in the surface migration barrier caused by switching of the surface terminations and (2) a prototypical study on the surface diffusion dynamics in perovskite growth realized by the application of the classical diffusion model to the island nucleation stage of SrTiO3 homoepitaxy.
