Ethionine이 흰쥐 재생간의 RNA 및 단백합성에 미치는 영향

The present paper was to observe the effect of acute ethionine intoxication on the RNA and protein synthesis of regenerating rat liver in vivo and in vitro. The study was also extended to the regenerating livers of chronically ethionine intoxicated rats. In vivo experiment, intraperitoneal administration of ethionine caused a striking inhibition of orotic acid-^14C incorporation into liver RNA at an equal rate in non-hepatectomized and partially hapatectomized rats, whereas the inhibition of L-lysine-^14C incorporation into the liver and serum protein was considerably less significant in the regenerating liver. In the liver slice experiment, the rises in RNA and protein syntheses after removal of part of liver were more significant compared to the rises observed in vivo. The inhihitory effect of ethionine, in vitro, was more remarkable on the synthesis of RNA than that of protein, but there was no difference in the degree of inhibitions between nonhepatectomized and regenerating livers. Protein synthesis of ethionine induced cirrhotic livers showed a considerable increase after partial hepatectomy in vivo. The regenerating liver of the chronically ethionine intoxicated rats was more strongly inhibited in protein synthesis by a single large dose of ethionine than regenerating liver of normal rats.

The purpose of this paper was to determine the normal values for serum iron concentration and iron-binding capacity in healthy Koreans, and also to observe the physiologic variation in serum iron concentration during a day time. A morning, non-festing blood specimen was collected from 146 males and 66 females. By the mothod of modified Barkan-Walker's, the mean serum iron was 127±31 in the males and 106±26㎍/100㎖ serum in the females. The total iron-binding capacity was 347±38 in the males, 326±21 ㎍/100㎖ serum in the females by using a modified Ramsay's method. These results was no significant difference between the that of some other investigators. The physiologic variation in serum iron concentration which were observed on 5 subjects from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. showed a range of 9 to 62 ㎍/100㎖ serum, but no certain tendency in the variations.
Ethionine 誘發 白鼠硬變肝의 Lysosomal Acid Phosphatase에 關한 硏究

The changes in activities of liver lysosomal and cytoplasmic acid phosphatase, and osmotic fragility of lysosome isolated from liver of rats fed synthetic diet containing 0.25% DL-ethionine for period of seven months have been examined. Histological studies revealed moderate to severe cirrhotic change accompanied with fatty degeneration and cell neerosis in all cases. Certain histological features suggestive of malignancy were also presented in 3 rats out of 8 cases but evidence of biological nalignancy, such as invasion or metastis were not observed. Chemical determination revealed significant increase in lipids and hydroxyproline content. The activities of lysosomal and cytoplasmic acid phosphatase of the ethionine induced cirrhotic livers showed no noticeable alteration, but the osmotic fragility of lysosome in vitro, determined from unbound acid phosphatase released in labilizing medium, showed a significant decrease.
