        세계시민성 및 글로벌역량 함양을 위한 교양영어 수업운영 사례연구

        본 연구는 내용언어통합학습(Content Language Integrated Learning)의 프레임을 기반으로 세계시민성 및 글로벌역량 함양과 영어학습을 통합하는 교양영어 수업모델을 운영한 사례연구이다. McTighe & Wiggins(1999)의 백워드 디자인을 활용하여 설계된 수업모델(오은주, 2021)은 교양영어 수업의 바라는 결과(세계화와 세계시민 이해하기, 글로벌역량 이해하기, 테크놀로지 도구 이해하기, 영어 의사소통 이해하기)를 달성하는 것을 목표로, 아태교육원 세계시민교육 온라인 캠퍼스의 GCED101자료를 활용하여 세계시민성 개발을 위한 학습경험을 제공하였고, PISA 글로벌역량의 프레임을 사용하여 글로벌역량 함양을 위한 미디어 기사읽기를 수행하였다. 또한 어려운 영어자료의 접근성을 높여 원활한 내용습득을 돕기 위해 다양한 비계(e.g., 기계번역기, 한국어, 협력학습)를 제공하였다. 한 학기 동안 운영된 수업에 대한 바라는 결과 성취여부에 대한 학습자인식 조사에서 네 개의 바라는 결과는 모두 달성된 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 PISA 글로벌역량의 사전사후 검사결과 수업과 연계된 다섯 개의 하위구인에서 모두 유의미한 진보를 보였고, 영어 자기효능감 검사의 사전사후 결과에서는 읽기, 듣기, 말하기, 쓰기 모든 영역에서 유의미한 상승을 보였다. 연구 결과의 함의는 세계시민성 및 글로벌역량을 함양하는 교양영어 수업이 언어 학습의 본질적 기능 뿐 아니라 21세기 대학의 교양교육이 지향하는 가치 지향적 학습이 동시에 이루어지는 기초필수 교과목으로서의 잠재성을 탐색한 점이다.

        PISA 2018 글로벌 역량 모형에 근거한 세계시민교육 융합 교양영어수업 사례연구

        This is a case study in which a college English class integrating global citizenship education was developed, implemented, and evaluated based on the PISA 2018 Global Competence framework. The framework introduced in OECD(2019) was delineated in details first, and it was explained how the class was developed using the backward design. There were three class modules. The first module adopted the materials used in global citizenship education in APCEIU in order to introduce the basic concept of global citizenship. In the second module, several multimedia articles were studied in order to boost a realistic sense about global issues. In the third class module, the participants linked reading in the textbook with global citizenship, discussed the connections in a small group and wrote paragraphs about them. The outcome of the course was analyzed based on the PISA 2018 global competence assessment tool. The contribution of this study was discussed along with ways to improve. 본 연구는 PISA 2018 글로벌 역량 모형에 근거하여 세계시민교육을 융합하여 교양영어 수업을 설계 및 실행한 사례연구이다. 먼저 OECD(2019)가 제시한 PISA 2018 글로벌 역량에 대해 자세히 소개하였고, 이 모형에 근거하여 백워드 디자인을 활용하여 융합수업을 개발하였다. 세 개의 수업 모듈로 융합 수업이 설계되었는데, 첫 번째 모듈에서는 아태교육원의 세계시민교육 자료인 "The World We Live In”을 활용하여 세계시민의 기초개념을 소개하였다. 두 번째 모듈에서는 주거, 여성인권, 난민, 온난화, 인종적 고정관념, 세계보건의 주제를 다루는 멀티미디어 기사를 글로벌 이슈의 구체적인 사례로 제시하여 학습하였다. 세 번째 모듈은 학습자의 영어능숙도를 고려한 교재의 독해기사를 세계시민의 관점에서 토론하고 글쓰기를 실행함으로 세계시민의 시각을 개발하였다. PISA 2018 글로벌 역량 평가모형을 활용하여 수업성과를 조사한 결과, 네 개의 인지과정이 균형 있게 연습되었고, 지식심화, 새로운 인식고취, 다각적 관점 개발, 세계시민성 함양과 역량 증진 등의 긍정적 인식을 유도한 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 글로벌 이슈에 대한 자기효능감과 인식, 타자관점 취하기, 및 적응력이라는 글로벌 지식의 하위구인에서는 유의미한 진보를 이룬 것으로 관찰되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 개선점이 함께 논의 되었다.

        Exploring Language Threshold Effect and Its Differential Manifestation in Different Measurement Tools

        The language threshold effect on comprehending an L2 (second language) text was experimentally examined, using two types of measurement tool, multiple-choice &true/false questions and a recall task for L2 reading comprehension. Cognitive processes implicated in each measure were delineated to allow a finer analysis on the role of L1 reading competence and L2 proficiency in comprehending an L2 text. In order to observe how one aspect of L2 proficiency, vocabulary knowledge, is related to language threshold effect, thirty-two 9th grade Korean students in Korea were given a vocabulary knowledge acquisition activity in a treatment condition between a pretest and a posttest. The relative contributions that L1 reading competence and L2proficiency made to L2 reading comprehension were analyzed before the treatment and after the treatment using multiple-regression analysis technique. The findings of this repeated measure design were consistent with previous correlational studies showing that the role of L1 reading competence became stronger as L2 proficiency operationalized via vocabulary knowledge improved. What is elaborated in the present study is the fact that cognitive processes, initiated by a recall task, are more sensitive to the weakening of language threshold effects.

        Levels of Students’ Problem-Solving Skills and Creative Attitudes in Project-Based Learning

        This study attempted to examine the levels of problem-solving skills and creative attitudes of college students and find out the effective ways of improving project-based learning environments. To achieve the study goals, a survey method was conducted to 144 students with three classes who enrolled in the same project-based class. The participants consist of three different classes with different academic areas such as nursing, engineering major, and students in the social science departments. They took the same project-based class with the same instructor. Students filled out and submitted the survey form on the research website The results of the study showed that students have low levels of problem-solving skills and creative attitudes. In particular, diverse thinking, planning ability, and modifying information categories were relatively lower than other categories. In the case of diverse thinking and decision-making areas, there was a statistical difference by gender. The female students showed stronger diverse thinking and decision-making abilities than the male students. Based on the study results, effective ways of improving students’ competencies needed in project-based learning are suggested.

        Blended Instruction in Online Learning Environments

        This paper examined how students perceive and evaluate online instruction. Mainly, it focused on students’ satisfaction on using online instruction and their most preferred mode of presentation of instructional contents. The research participants consist of 206 freshmen from the 2020 academic year, of which 120 took the class in the first semester and 86 in the second semester. The data was collected online within the two semesters and the results were compared to examine whether there were any differences in their answers. The survey results were analyzed with SPSS 26 using technical methods and a T-test was conducted to find out whether there were any differences in their answers based on the semester. Open-ended questions were analyzed using text analysis to find the themes, focusing on the research questions. The data analysis results showed that the students seem to be satisfied with the online classes they took. In the first semester survey, students answered they do not want to take online classes anymore. However, in the second semester, more than half of the 48 students wanted to take classes online while 33 still wanted face-to-face classes. The respondents are currently taking online classes because of social conditions. If the situation improves, they want face-to-face classes to allow them to communicate with their colleagues and professors. Since they are freshmen, they wanted to experience campus life and socialize with their peers on campus. Based on the study results, instructional strategies and activities were suggested.

        ISPI 수행공학 모형을 적용한 조직의 문제해결과 수행능력 향상 탐색

        Human Performance Technology is a practical approach to improve organizational performance by analyzing, designing, and developing human performance systems in the organizations (Rossett, 1996). In another word, HPT is an attempt to figure out the best way to solve problems in organizations by using human performance management systems. Studies on human resources development suggest that performance management has to be a holistic process, integrating problems in management and individual performance in the context of specific situations. An organization is an adaptive system, taking in various inputs and producing valued output in diverse formats. Since the organization must continuously and successfully produce items and services, they often fail to provide sufficient working conditions to employees, providing clear goals and necessary support for performance. This study focused on implementing solutions for resolving the problems of the selected organization by taking Van Tier et al., (2004)'s ISPI model modified by the researcher. The model was consisted of 5 steps. Those are analysis, gap and cause findings, intervention design, implementation, and evaluation. After implementing the steps, organizational performance was found to be improved and the designed HPT process was effective. 본 연구는 K대학의 TEC Lab이라는 조직의 직무수행 문제를 해결하기 위하여 Van Tiem 외(2004)의 ISPI 모델을 수정하여 적용한 모델에 따라 수행 공학적 접근 방식을 적용한 사례이다. 본 연구에서는 채택된 ISPI 수행공학 모델에 내재되어 있는 문제해결과정을 체계적으로 검토하여 첫째, 참여관찰을 통하여 문제조직의 현 상태와 바람직한 상황간의 차이를 파악하였다. 그 결과 현재상황과 바람직한 상황 사이에는 커다란 차이가 있다는 것을 밝혀내었다. 둘째, 이러한 차이의 근본원인을 조직분석과 과제분석을 통하여 밝혀내고 문제의 원인에 대한 해결방안을 분석결과를 종합하여 설계하였다. 도출된 해결방안은 직무교육방법과 비직무교육방법을 혼합한 방법으로 내재된 문제의 성격과 유형에 따라 적절한 해결방안을 채택하였다. 연구결과 이러한 블랜디드형 수행공학을 적용한 문제해결 접근방법은 지식의 전달 뿐 아니라 필요한 자원을 지속적으로 제공해 줄 수 있는 장점이 있었다.

        한국 창작음악연구 살펴보기

        The purpose of this research paper is to analyze in detail material used in research on contemporary Korean music. Its purpose is also to search for new methods of research where this has been mainly carried out through technical analysis of compositions. The definition and the categorization of contemporary comfemporary Korean music is based on discussion which has taken place among Korean scholars since the 1980s. Contemporary Korean compositions is defined as music that has been composed by Koreans and presented inside and outside of Korea. So, since the age of the Ch'angga, that is, the research materials of the works and composers that have followed pongsoˇnhwa composed by Hong Nan-P'a(1898-1941) has been researched. Essays in journals and some related volumes have been primarily studied. Discussion papers and articles in some journals have offered a lot of relevant material, and from this has been identified four areas of focus: 1. The identity of Korean music and local music. 2. Efforts to search for National Music. 3. The Canon, the deconstruction of its myth. 4. Filing source materials, and considering a change in focus from research conclusions to research paradigm changes. It seems that Ch'oe Dong-soˇn's analysis of Sansudo for Orchestra composed by Paek Pyoˇng-dong was the good start to research into Contemporary Korean compositions. And from the late 1980's, those studies have produced many papers and discussion articles in music journals: Nangmanu˘mak, Hankuku˘maksahakpo, Minjoku˘mak, Music and Korea, etc. Almost all masters theses relating to Contemporary Korean compositions that have been mainly researched through the analysis of composition technique are excepted. They are likely to be studied in the near future from the standpoint of music sociology. Contemporary Korean compositions in a traditional style and popular music were not dealt with because of the lack of adequate research categories. The definition of national music has been discussed a little, but because it is a very broad topic it has not been dealt with in detail, and I thought it would be better to research this topic in following studies. In view of the results so far achieved, the problem with research into contemporary Korean compositions seem to be due to the simplicity of current studies. I had a chance to consider that all the studies published have focused on the analysis of composition technique or have repeated previous critical analyses. The myth of the Canon and the possibility of its deconstruction was researched, and as a result, we received some unexpected gifts. The problem is that the history of contemporary Korean compositions show little gradual technical development. However, there has been a plethora of new composition techniques which has magnified and expanded the definition of Contemporary Korean music. On the contrary, it could be that errors in judgement based on some kind of complex about the purity of authenticity have been still repeated. In fact, a diverse range of music compositions have to appear before us simultaneously, but we have tended to deny that hybrid works their rightful place for consideration. These are the problems left to us to which we should give serious consideration. Instead of offering a conclusion in this study, I examined the possibility of making research paradigm changes, and I offer 4 new research paradigms on which to base studies on Korean modern compositions. 1. Interdisciplinary studies. 2. The studies of musical history through microhistory. 3. Cultural studies. 4. The possibility of feminism in musicology. These are all the contents. From now on, I expect to show both the diversity of individually different compositions of contemporary Korean compositions and its universality as it relates to the broad concept of contemporary Korean music composition.

        Time Management Strategies in Online Learning Environments

        This paper examines the students' time management behaviors and strategies in online learning environments. Recently, the number of online classes have increased due to the social changes brought by COVID-19, and students need to adjust to the online learning environments without any preparations. Students' time management skills are one of the essential factors to lead successful online classes, thus, this study attempted to explore students' time management behaviors and skills. In particular, it focused on students' time management habits and skills in online learning environments. An online survey was conducted with 147 students who took online classes at K University in 2021. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 28 program. Technical analysis examined the means and the tendencies of data distribution. ANOVA was used to explore any statistical differences in the responses by gender, academic areas, and grade. This study found that the students did not have experience with time management in their learning and did not use time management tools or strategies. Furthermore, the results revealed that mobile application was the most frequently adopted tool in the case of the students who had experiences with using the time management tools. The students perceived that they were not efficiently managing time in general and in online classes. When they took online classes, they were not using weekends to take classes, and they did not fix any specific time to take classes. Most learners preferred online classes because they could use their time regarding the satisfaction with online classes. However, they did not perceive that online classes are more effective than offline classes. Based on the findings, developing the LMS with a time management matrix was suggested.
