Vol.25 No.1

Recently, researches using deep learning technology based on Wi-Fi fingerprints have been conducted for accurate services in indoor location-based services. Among the deep learning models, an RNN model that can store information from the past can store continuous movements in indoor positioning, thereby reducing positioning errors. At this time, continuous sequential data is required as training data. However, since Wi-Fi fingerprint data is generally managed only with signals for a specific location, it is inappropriate to use it as training data for an RNN model. This paper proposes a path generation method through prediction of a moving path based on Wi-Fi fingerprint data extended to region data through clustering to generate sequential input data of the RNN model.

The expressions of phosphorylated serine1177-eNOS, SOD1, and SOD2 decreased, and the 8-OHdG-positive area and the 3-nitrotyrosine-positive area increased with age. The expression of Nox2 significantly increased with age, but that of Nox4 did not change.<I> Conclusions</I>. The enhanced PRR-ACE-Ang II-AT1R axis and reduced ACE2-MasR axis were associated with arterial aging in mice. </P>

1998 The Medical Journal of Chosun University Vol.23 No.2

Cells immnunoreactive for somatostatin(SOM) and glucagon(GLU) were investigated in postnatal day 0, 7, 14, 28, 90, 180 and adult canine pancreas using light microscopic immunohistochemistry. Pancreatic SOM-immunoreactive cells were found in pancreatic acini, pancreatic duct, and pancreatic islet gradually. Pancreatic SOM-immunoreactive cells were more located in pancreatic parenchyme than pancreatic islet throughout pancreas by postnatal day 28. But there was change by the postnatal 3 months : pancreatic SOM-immunoreactive cells were more located in pancreatic islet than acini and duct. It is suggested that the number of the SOM-immunoreactive cells may not increase with age apparently. A small number of SOM-immunoreactive cells that showed GLU-immunoreactivity were also observed in canine pancreatic islet. The physiologic consequences of these changes remain to be determined. These results sugegest that SOM in the developing pancreas may relate to the secretion of pancreatic hormones.

A Multicenter Analysis of Clinical Features and Long-Term Outcomes of POEMS Syndrome in Korea

        Kook Hye Won,Jang Ji Eun,Min Chang-Ki,Yoon Dok Hyun,Kim Kihyun,Bang Soo-Mee,Park Yong,Lee Jae Hoon,Yoon Sung-Soo,Kim Jin Seok 대한의학회 2024 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.39 No.2

Background: POEMS syndrome is a rare form of plasma cell dyscrasia characterized by polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal proteins, and skin changes. Owing to its low incidence, there are few reports regarding this syndrome. This multicenter study included 84 patients diagnosed with POEMS syndrome in South Korea. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 84 patients diagnosed with POEMS syndrome at 8 hospitals in South Korea between January 2000 and October 2022. The clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes were analyzed. Results: The median patient age was 53 years (range, 26–77 years), and 63.1% of the patients were male. All patients had peripheral neuropathy, and 81 (96.4%) had monoclonal plasma cell proliferation. Plasma vascular endothelial growth factor levels were available for 32 patients with a median of 821 pg/mL (range, 26–12,900 pg/mL). Other common features included skin changes (54.2%), volume overload (71.4%), and organomegaly (72.6%). Of the 84 patients, 75 received initial treatment (local radiotherapy, 6 [8.0%]; chemotherapy, 17 [22.7%]; both chemotherapy and local radiotherapy, 9 [12.0%]), upfront autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT), 43 (57.3%; with induction chemotherapy, n = 12, 16.0%; without induction chemotherapy, n = 31, 41.3%). The median follow-up duration was 40.7 months. The 5-year overall survival (OS) was 78%, and the 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) was 55%. Patients who underwent upfront ASCT and were diagnosed after 2014 had a longer OS and PFS. Conclusion: The demographics of Korean patients with POEMS syndrome were similar to those reported previously. Because of the introduction of new treatment agents and the reduced rate of transplant-related mortality related to ASCT, the treatment outcomes of Korean patients with POEMS syndrome have improved in recent years.

Gene Expression Analysis of the Bromobenzene Treated Liver with Non-hepatotoxic Doses in Mice

        Lim, Jung-Sun,Jeong, Sun-Young,Hwang, Ji-Yoon,Park, Han-Jin,Cho, Jae-Woo,Song, Chang-Woo,Kim, Yang-Seok,Lee, Wan-Seon,Moon, Jin-Hee,Han, Sang-Seop,Yoon, Seok-Joo The Korean Society of Toxicogenomics and Toxicopro 2005 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.1 No.4

Bromobenzene (BB) is well known hepatotoxicant. Also, BB is an industrial solvent that arouses toxicity predominantly in the liver where it causes centrilobular necrosis. BB is subjected to Cytochrome P450 mediated epoxidation followed by either conjugation with glutathione, enzymatic hydrolysis or further oxidation. In this study, we focused on BB-induced gene expression at non-hepatotoxic dose. Mice were exposed to two levels of BB, sampled at 24 h, and hepatic gene expression levels were determined to evaluate dose dependent changes. When examining the toxic dose of BB treated group in other previous studies, genes related to heat shock protein, oxidative stress, and drug metabolism are expressed. Compared to these results, our study, in which non-toxic dose of BB was administrated, showed similar patterns as the toxic conditions above. The purpose of the study was to select genes that showed changes in relation to the differing dose through confirmation of the difference within transcriptomic boundaries, but those that are not detected by the existing classic toxicology tools in non-hepatotoxic dose.

1996 The Medical Journal of Chosun University Vol.21 No.1

The distribution and localization of somatostatin(SOM), neuropeptide Y(NPY), vasopressin(VP), and oxytocin(OT) were studied with a immunohistochemical technique in the canine hypothalamus. The SOM-immunoreactive perikarya were concentrated in the anterior periventricular and the arcuate nuclei. Immunoreactive terminals were observed in the arcuate, the ventromedial hypothalamic, the suprachismatic nuclei and the external layer of the median emmence. A great number of NPY-immunoreactive cell bodies were found in the arcuate nucleus and NPY fibers were located throughout the hypothalamus with the highest concentration especially in the paraventricular (PVN) and the acuate nuclei. Moderately or densely stained fibers were also observed in the median eminence, the suprachiasmatic. the periventricular, the ventromedial hypothalamic, the dorsomedial hypothalamic and the medial preoptic nuclei, and the stria terminalis. Both VP-and OT-containing perikarya were found mainly in the PVN and supraoptic nucleus(SON). but a few were seen in the perifornical area, the lateral hypothalamus, the dorsal hypothalamic and the periventricular nucleus. The fibers originated from the PVN were projected to the SON via ventral or dorsal area of the fornix.

Vol.8 No.1

This paper is aimed at developing an location tracking for mobile station employing currently available mobile communication network of cellular phone and PCS(Personal Communication System), When the location tracking of mobile stations is in services, the services such as Emergency-119, crime investigation, effective urban traffic management or the safety protection of Alzheimer's patients, can be available. This paper is to track the mobile station in communication network in NLOS environment. To achieve reduction of the standard noise, Kalman filter is used. In terms of the distance, positions are located by using TOA and TDOA methods in LOS environment that removes NLOS bias in the measured data. And then smoothing method is used. to achieve reduction of the position error values.

Vol.22 No.2

Midazolam have been used widely as adjuvants in both regional and general anesthesia and in high risk patients in the intensive care unit. In the present study we evaluated the effect of midazolam and antagonistic effect of flumazenil on isolated rat tracheal preparations mounted for recording isometric contractile force. Trachea smooth muscle were contracted with acetylcholine (10^-5M, Ach) and potassium chloride (40mM KC1). Midazolam 5x10 exp (-6)M and 5x10 exp (-5)M produced dose-dependent relaxation and flumazenil (3.2 x 10 exp (-7)M), central antagonist of benzodiazepine, pretreatment had no significant change midazolaminduced relaxation. Midazolam probably did not relax airway smooth muscle by activatong central benzodiazepine receptors, as flumazenil did not block the concentration-related relaxation of midazolam. Our study suggests that flumazenil may be used satety for asthmatic patients who have been with midazolam, as flumazenil did not antagonize airway relaxation elicited by midazolam.
