The purpose of this study was to investigate a status and task on the system for child care teacher's license. To this purpose; First, the system for child care teacher's license, pre-education for child care teacher and in-service education were analyzed based on the Child Care Act. Second, a questionnaire was developed and was used for the collection of data. The subjects used in this investigation were 112 child care teachers. Chi-Test was used to analyze the data. Third, some tasks and implications for the future development were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of the policy ``early entrance into elementary school for 5 year-old children`` while analyzing perspectives of the early childhood teachers who engaged in early childhood education and care. To analyze the point of views of the teachers about the policy, a questionnaire was developed and used in collection of data. The subjects in this study were 215 early childhood teachers of kindergarten and early childhood center. Chi-square test, t-test, F-test and Scheffe post hoc test were performed to analyze the data. The results of this study were as follows. First, most teachers, the subjects of this study were against the policy because of several problems such as replacement of early childhood curriculum and class assignment for delayed children at school age. They also suggested that it was not efficient because it might cause to hinder child development. In addition, the subjects were aware that parents as well as elementary school recognized that it was not appropriate policy since it might lead to several negative issues. Finally, early childhood teachers suggested that substitute policies for increasing the rate of childbirth such as increasing budget of child-care and family welfare, encouraging investment for early childhood education, and normalizing public education and care were better than the policy ``early entrance into elementary school for 5 year-old children``.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the status and construct the direction for activation of day care centers in rural area. The subjects used in this study were 102 directors and 120 parents of day care centers in rural area. Two kind of questionnaires were developed and used for the collection of data; one was for the directors and the other was for the parents. Frequency, percentile and χ2 were used to analyze the data. Also significant difference among the type of day care center was compared. It was revealed that general status of day care centers in rural area was comparatively poor condition in many aspects. Also more specific status and direction for activation for the day care centers in rural area were analyzed and discussed in this study.

Background : Serum osteocalcin is synthesized by osteoblast and has been shown to be sensitive indicator of bone turnover inpatients with various metabolic bone disease. In renal osteodystrophy, serum osteocalcin is elevated due to decreased renal clearance and elevated level of PTH. This study was done to evaluate the usefulness of serum osteocalcin as a marker of bone metabolism and the correlation with other biochemical markers of bone metabolism. Methods : We measured serum osteocalcin, calcium, phosphorus, ALP(alkaline phosphatase) and PTH(parathyroid hormone) in 37 patients with end stage renal disease on hemodialysis. Osteocalcin was determined by radioimmunoassay and PTH was determined by radioimmunometric assay. Results : 1) The mean level of serum osteocalcin in ESRD patients was 233.8± 218.2ng/ml which was significantly higher than that of controls(p<0.0001). 2) The mean level of serum PTH in ESRD patients was 40.5± 43.8pg/ml was significantly higher than that of controls(p<0.005). 3) There was a significant positive correlation between the level of serum PTH, ALP and the level of serum osteocalcin in ESRD patients. 4) By using multiple regression, PTH is most reliable factor that affect to elevated level of serum osteocalcin ( beta coefficient = 0.687, Sig T<0.05). Conclusion : Serum osteocalcin as a marker of bone metabolism in ESRD patients is more useful than other biochemical marker such as serum calcium, phosphorus, ALP and PTH is a most reliable factor that affect to elevated level of serum osteocalin.

This study investigated the teacher's recognition and the status about children's play in kindergartens. A questionnaire was developed for this study and was used in collection of data. The questionnaire consisted of 54 items and divided into five areas. The subjects in this study were two hundreds and seventeen kindergarten teachers from rural and urban areas. The data were calculated by frequency, mean, and standard deviation and were analyzed by χ2, t-test, ANOVA, and Tukey method for multiple comparisons. The results showed that the teacher's recognition and the status about children's play in kindergarten were significantly differed by variables of teachers, such as ages, teaching experiences, and education backgrounds.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between young children's representational drawing and recognition memory. The subjects were 334 children (81 four-year-old, 91 five-year-old, 81 six-year-old and 81 seven-year-old). The results of this study are as follows: first, there were positive correlations between representational drawing abilities and recognition memory; second, ‘subject', a subordinate of recognition memory is a predictive variable of representational drawing ability. The results of this study suggest that the developmental characteristics of young children's abilities on representational drawing should be considered in terms of theorization depending on representational drawing ability and recognition memory. The knowledge of the correlation between recognition memory and representational drawing has much implication for teaching art in early childhood education settings.
The Structural Relationship of Factors Affecting Kindergartners’ School Adjustment

The purpose of this study was to analyze the direct and indirect effects of self-esteem on kindergarteners` school adjustment, as well as the possible mediating effect of ego-resilience in those processes. Participants included 221 children (mean age = 5.45 years) attending kindergarten in South Korea. For data collection, the study utilized the Preschool Adjustment Questionnaires, Devereux Early Childhood Assessment, and Young Children`s Sense of Self-Esteem Inventory. The results of this study demonstrated that there are significant positive correlations among school adjustment, selfesteem, and ego-resilience. It also revealed that there are two processes by which self-esteem affects school adjustment. First, there was a direct effect. Second, there was an indirect effect where in higher self-esteem was predictive of greater ego-resilience, which in turn has a positive effect on school adjustment. The results of this study suggested that secure development of self-esteem and egoresilience are the precedent conditions for children`s positive school adjustment. In practice, it is necessary to consider self-esteem and ego-resilience when aiming to enhance the development of children at risk for school adjustment problems.
