The first Cybathlon will be held in October 2016 and this contest is designed for developing prosthetic technologies. In this study, we analyzed the Cybathlon and from this analysis we researched advanced prosthetic technologies. In addition, we ascertained some ethical issues about post-human beings with prosthetic equipment, which could rehabilitate disabled people and even serve to enhance non-disabled people. Disability is only one of the inconveniences that a person must endure, but everyone has some sort of inconvenience to endure. We found the possibilities of dissolving boundaries between people with disabilities and their able-bodied counterparts through the Cybathlon and prosthetic devices. The features and role of our body itself will be expanded with the help of these future technologies. Engineers, inventors and designers are making better prostheses for disabilities, but these could help not only disabled people but also every non-disabled people. The dominant ethical debates that appear in bioethics and human- related enhancement are reliability, authenticity and autonomy. Reliability and autonomy are the question of being safe and controllable. In this study, we want to raise a question on authenticity: ‘if a person with a powered-prosthesis sets a better record, should we admit it?’
Anti-inflammatory and radical scavenging properties of Verbena officinalis
Shim, Hwan-Ki,Kim, Seong-Yeol,Kim, Bo-Rim,Cho, Jae-Park,Park, Yae-Jeong,Ji, Won-Geun,Cha, Dong-Seok,Jeon, Hoon Kyung Hee Oriental Medicine Research Center 2010 Oriental pharmacy and experimental medicine Vol.10 No.4
Verbena officinalis (Verbenaceae) has been used as herbal medicine or health supplement in both Western and Eastern countries for centuries. In the present study, we examined the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of the methylene chloride fraction of V. officinalis (VMC). To elucidate the anti-inflammatory properties of VMC, we investigated the inhibition effects of nitric oxide production in interferon-gamma (IFN-$\gamma$) and lipopolysaccharide-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages. VMC suppressed nitric oxide production, inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 expression dose-dependently without notable cytotoxicity. In various radical scavenging assays, VMC exhibited strong scavenging effect on DPPH radical, superoxide radical, nitric oxide radical and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) radical. VMC also showed potent reducing power. These findings strongly suggest that VMC may be beneficial in oxidative stress-mediated inflammatory disorders.

A 45-year-old male with alleged asymptomatic hepatic hemangioma of 4 years duration had right upper-quadrant pain and was referred to a tertiary hospital. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scans revealed a hypervascular mass of about 7 cm containing intratumoral multilobulated cysts. A preoperative liver biopsy was performed, but this failed to provide a defi nitive diagnosis. The patient underwent a partial hepatectomy of segments IV and VIII. The histologic fi ndings revealed multifocal proliferation of fl attened or cuboidal epithelioid cells and a highly vascular edematous stroma. Immunohistochemistry fi ndings demonstrated that the epithelioid tumor cells were positive for cytokeratin (AE1/AE3), vimentin, calretinin, and cytokeratin 5/6, and were focally positive for CD10, and negative for WT1 and CD34, all of which support their mesothelial origin. Immunohistochemistry for a mesothelial marker should be performed for determining the presence of an adenomatoid tumor when benign epithelioid cells are seen. (Clin Mol Hepatol 2012;18:229-234)

Esophageal duplication cysts account for a very small percentage of benign esophageal tumor that is usually diagnosed in childhood, but very rare cases remain asymptomatic until adolescence. They may be asymptomatic or present with complications like infection, bleeding, or mass effect. A 19-years-women visited our hospital presenting chest pain and dysphagia. Contrast enhanced computed tomography of the chest showed a heterogeneous density of mass in left lateral wall of distal thoracic esophagus. On endoscopic ultrasound, a heterogeneously echotextured lesion with anechoic components present and no vascular component in Doppler sonogram at intramural location in the lower esophagus was noted. In view of symptoms of dysphagia and possibility of esophageal submucosal tumor, surgical excision through posterolateral thoracotomy was performed. In gross fi nding, a mass measurred 4. 0 x 4. 0 x 2. 0 cm and formed cyst with hematoma formation in it. Histopathologically the cyst was lined by pseudostratifi ed ciliated columnar epithelium surrounded by inner circular and outer longitudinal smooth muscle layers without cartilage. So it was diagnosed as a complicated esophageal duplication cyst with hematoma formation. Esophageal duplication cyst represent rare benign tumor of congenital foregut anomalies. Up to 80% of these cysts are diagnosed in childhood, less than 7% remain asymptomatic until adolescence. Pain and dysphagia are the most common symptoms in adults. Complications may be infections, rupture or bleeding. Diagnosis is usually made by computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasound. The only defi nite treatment is surgical excision. Pathologically, the cyst is covered with nonkeratinizing squamous or ciliated columnar epithelium, and the cyst wall contains two layers of smooth muscle. These fi ndings, accompanied by a lack of cartilage in the cyst wall, can differentiate an esophageal duplication cyst from a bronchogenic cyst.
Acute Gastritis and Splenic Infarction Caused by Epstein-Barr Virus

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection can be presented with various clinical manifestations and different levels of severity when infected. Infectious mononucleosis, which is most commonly caused by EBV infection in children and adoles-cents, is a clinical syndrome characterized by fatigue, malaise, fever, sore throat, and generalized lymphadenopathy. But rarely, patients with infectious mononucleosis may present with gastrointestinal symptoms and complicated by gastritis, splenic infarction, and splenic rupture. We encountered a 16-year-old girl who presented with fever, fatigue, and epigastric pain. Splenic infarction and EBV-associated gastritis were diagnosed by using esophagogas-troduodenoscopy and abdominal computed tomography. Endoscopy revealed a generalized hyperemic nodular lesion in the stomach, and the biopsy findings were chronic gastritis with erosion and positive in situ hybridization for EBV. As splenic infarction and acute gastritis are rare in infectious mononucleosis and are prone to be overlooked, we must consider these complications when an infectious mononucleosis patient presents with gastrointestinal symptom.
