A successive ‘‘conversion-deposition” mechanism achieved by micro-crystalline Cu2O modified current collector for composite lithium anode

        Yifei Cai,Bin Qin,Chun Li,Xiaoqing Si,Jian Cao,Xiaohang Zheng,LIANG QIAO,Junlei Qi 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.120 No.-

Lithium (Li) metal is a promising material for high-energy–density batteries, but it is still plagued byobvious capacity degradation and low average Coulombic efficiency resulting from dendrite Li propagation. One main reason is the electro-mechanic coupled failure of plated Li on the current collector, whichcontributes to non-dense Li deposition on the anode. Transition metal oxides (TMOs) with a conversiontypemechanism have been used directly as the anode materials for lithium ion batteries, which demonstratedbetter electro-mechanical stability than metal Li. Herein, a successive ’’conversion-deposition’’mechanism is ingeniously developed to restrain the generation of dendritic Li. Specifically, a microcrystallineCu2O modified current collector was prepared, in which Li+ are sequentially inserted intoCu2O and deposited in the form of Li metal at successive low potential. A Li-Cu half-cell based on thehybrid mechanism sustains a high Coulombic efficiency of over 99.3 % in up to 800 cycles. This work ingeniouslyinhibits the generation of dendrite Li by incorporating conversion-type materials withdeposition-dissolution type metal Li, which contributes to a novel concept for the design of functionalcurrent collectors for composite Li anodes.

CO2 Adsorption on the B12N12 Nanocage Encapsulated with Alkali Metals: A Density Functional Study

        Haiyan Zhu,Qiyan Zhang,Qinfu Zhao,He Zhao,Yifan Feng,Bingbing Suo,Huixian Han,Qi Song,Yawei Li,Wenli Zou,Haiyan Zhu 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2019 NANO Vol.14 No.3

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been carried out to study the capacity of the B12N12 nanocage encapsulated with alkali metals (Li, Na, K) for the CO2 adsorption and activation. It is found that after encapsulating alkali metals, the alkali metal atoms are closer to one side of clusters instead of exactly lying at the center, and a considerable charge transfers from the inner alkali metal atoms to the B12N12 cage. Besides, the HOMO–LUMO gap (HLG) values of Li@B12N12, Na@B12N12 and K@B12N12 are decreased to about 6 eV, being much smaller than that of the pristine B12N12. Although the geometry structure parameters and the energy differences of M06-2X are slightly different from the ones of ωB97X-D, some identical results of two kinds of functional can be obtained. CO2 can be adsorbed chemically and physically on majority bonds of all the clusters, except for some bonds with large change in bond length and bond indices. The encapsulation of alkali-metal atoms may enhance the physical and chemical adsorption of CO2 on the surface of the clusters, in which Na@B12N12 and K@B12N12 are the most powerful physical and chemical adsorbent for CO2, respectively.

      • A Comparative Study of the Features of Reclusive Design in China's Lüdao Fang Residence Garden and Korea's Yunjeong Gotaek

Xinle Min,Hongshuai Qi2,Yani Li1 KOREA INSTITUTE FOR HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES 2024 Journal of Arts and Cultural Studies(ACS) Vol.3 No.1

Background: The classical gardens of China and South Korea, rich in traditional cultural connotations, provide a respite from the emptiness and anxiety brought by modern society. This is closely tied to the involvement of scholarly hermits, who represented the learned and morally cultivated class in the ancient garden constructions of both countries. Studying the spatial characteristics of these hermitage gardens is important for modern spatial design. Purpose:This research compares representative residential hermitage gardens in China and South Korea - the Lüdao Fang Residence Garden and the Yin Zheng Ancient Residence. It identifies the similarities and differences in their spatial features and the reasons behind these variations. It also explores the potential applications of these characteristics in contemporary spatial design. Methods: The study begins with a literature review to define the concept of hermitage gardens. It then proceeds with on-site and documentary research of the Lüdao Fang Residence Garden and the Yunjeong Gotaek, analyzing and comparing the spatial attributes of these two gardens. Results: Both gardens reflect the hermitage philosophies of "Moderate Reclusion" and "Confucian Hermitage," chosen for their locations in scenic, tranquil, and harmonious settings. However, their relationships with urban areas differ; both prioritize the creation of spaces that are secluded yet connected. Conclusion: Analyzing and comparing their reclusive cultural characteristics deepens and refines the understanding of Chinese garden art theory and hermit culture. It also provides a theoretical foundation for further exploring their revitalization and promoting creative transformation and innovative development in Eastern classical garden art.

Ejector performance prediction at critical and subcritical operational modes

        Li, Fenglei,Tian, Qi,Wu, Changzhi,Wang, Xiangyu,Lee, Jae-Myung Pergamon 2017 Applied thermal engineering Vol. No.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Traditional ejector models are focusing on the ejector performance predictions at critical mode under design conditions. In reality, ejector systems cannot be operated under these conditions perfectly. Thus, the study of ejector performance at subcritical mode under off-design conditions is important. In this paper, novel models for ejector performance predictions at critical point and breakdown point are developed based on constant-pressure mixing and constant-pressure disturbing assumptions. Then, the two models are integrated as the model to predict ejector performance at critical and subcritical operational modes. In order to determine the ejector component efficiencies in the models, a novel concept, the effect of the change (EOC) of efficiency, is introduced to identify the efficiencies which affect ejector performance significantly. Then, the identified efficiencies are determined by sparsity-enhanced optimization method. The predicted results obtained by our model are much more accurate than those obtained by existing methods.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Novel models for ejector performance analysis at critical and breakdown points are developed. </LI> <LI> The models are integrated to predict ejector performance over entire operational range. </LI> <LI> An analysis method is developed for identifying the ejector component efficiencies. </LI> <LI> The performance prediction errors over entire operational range are within ±10%. </LI> </UL> </P>

Metabolic Regulation of Gene Expression by Histone Lysine β-Hydroxybutyrylation

        Xie, Zhongyu,Zhang, Di,Chung, Dongjun,Tang, Zhanyun,Huang, He,Dai, Lunzhi,Qi, Shankang,Li, Jingya,Colak, Gozde,Chen, Yue,Xia, Chunmei,Peng, Chao,Ruan, Haibin,Kirkey, Matt,Wang, Danli,Jensen, Lindy M. Elsevier 2016 Molecular cell Vol.62 No.2

<P><B>Summary</B></P> <P>Here we report the identification and verification of a β-hydroxybutyrate-derived protein modification, lysine β-hydroxybutyrylation (Kbhb), as a new type of histone mark. Histone Kbhb marks are dramatically induced in response to elevated β-hydroxybutyrate levels in cultured cells and in livers from mice subjected to prolonged fasting or streptozotocin-induced diabetic ketoacidosis. In total, we identified 44 histone Kbhb sites, a figure comparable to the known number of histone acetylation sites. By ChIP-seq and RNA-seq analysis, we demonstrate that histone Kbhb is a mark enriched in active gene promoters and that the increased H3K9bhb levels that occur during starvation are associated with genes upregulated in starvation-responsive metabolic pathways. Histone β-hydroxybutyrylation thus represents a new epigenetic regulatory mark that couples metabolism to gene expression, offering a new avenue to study chromatin regulation and diverse functions of β-hydroxybutyrate in the context of important human pathophysiological states, including diabetes, epilepsy, and neoplasia.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Lysine β-hydroxybutyrylation (Kbhb) is a new type of histone mark </LI> <LI> 44 non-redundant histone Kbhb sites are identified in human and mouse cells </LI> <LI> Histone Kbhb increases under starvation and STZ-induced ketoacidosis </LI> <LI> Starvation-induced H3K9bhb is associated with active gene expression </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • Disruption of endothelial barrier function is linked with hyposecretion and lymphocytic infiltration in salivary glands of Sjögren's syndrome

        Cong, Xin,Zhang, Xue-Ming,Zhang, Yan,Wei, Tai,He, Qi-Hua,Zhang, Li-Wei,Hua, Hong,Lee, Sang-Woo,Park, Kyungpyo,Yu, Guang-Yan,Wu, Li-Ling Elsevier 2018 Biochimica et biophysica acta. Molecular basis of Vol.1864 No.10

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease that causes hyposecretion in salivary glands. Endothelial tight junctions (TJs) play crucial roles in salivation and barrier function of blood vessels. However, whether the alteration of endothelial TJs were involved in pathogenesis of SS was still unknown. Here, the ultrastructure and function of endothelial TJs in submandibular glands (SMGs) were detected by transmission electron microscopy and in vivo paracellular permeability assay in different aged NOD mouse model for SS. CFSE-labeled lymphocytes were injected into tail vein to trace the infiltration, while claudin-5 expression and distribution were detected by immunofluorescence, qRT-PCR, and western blot. Results showed that the stimulated salivary flow rate was gradually decreased and lymphocytic infiltration was found as age increased in 12- and 21-week-old NOD mice, but not 7-week-old NOD mice. Blood vessels were dilated, while endothelial TJ width and paracellular tracer transport were increased in 12-week-old NOD mice. Moreover, the injected CFSE-labeled lymphocytes were observed in SMGs of 12-week-old NOD mice. Claudin-5 level was increased and relocalized from the apical portion of neighboring endothelial cells to lateral membranes and cytoplasm in 12-week-old NOD mice. Additionally, the alteration of claudin-5 expression and distribution was further confirmed in labial salivary glands and bilateral parotid glands from SS patients. In cultured human microvessel endothelial cell line (HMEC-1), IFN-γ stimulation significantly increased claudin-5 expression. Taken together, we identified that the endothelial TJ barrier was disrupted and contributed to the development of salivary hyposecretion and lymphocytic infiltration in SS.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Endothelial tight junction barrier is disrupted in hyposecretory submandibular glands from Sjögren's syndrome mouse model </LI> <LI> The disrupted salivary endothelial barrier is linked with lymphocytic infiltration in Sjögren's syndrome mouse model </LI> <LI> The redistribution of claudin-5 is responsible for disrupted endothelial barrier in salivary glands from Sjögren's syndrome </LI> </UL> </P>

Oxymatrine Causes Hepatotoxicity by Promoting the Phosphorylation of JNK and Induction of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Mediated by ROS in LO2 Cells

        Li-li Gu,Zhe-lun Shen,Yang-Lei Li,Yi-Qi Bao,Hong Lu 한국분자세포생물학회 2018 Molecules and cells Vol.41 No.5

Oxymatrine (OMT) often used in treatment for chronic hepatitis B virus infection in clinic. However, OMT–induced liver injury has been reported. In this study, we aim to investigate the possible mechanism of OMT-induced hepatotoxicity in human normal liver cells (L02). Exposed cells to OMT, the cell viability was decreased and apoptosis rate increased, the intracellular markers of oxidative stress were changed. Simultaneously, OMT altered apoptotic related proteins levels, including Bcl-2, Bax and pro-caspase-8/-9/-3. In addition, OMT enhanced the protein levels of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress makers (GRP78/Bip, CHOP, and cleaved-Caspase-4) and phosphorylation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (p-JNK), as well as the mRNA levels of GRP78/Bip, CHOP, caspase-4, and ER stress sensors (IREI, ATF6, and PERK). Pre-treatment with Z-VAD-fmk, JNK inhibitor SP600125 and N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC), a ROS scavenger, partly improved the survival rates and restored OMT-induced cellular damage, and reduced caspase-3 cleavage. SP600125 or NAC reduced OMT-induced p-JNK and NAC significantly lowered caspase-4. Furthermore, 4-PBA, the ER stress inhibitor, weakened inhibitory effect of OMT on cells, on the contrary, TM worsen. 4-PBA also reduced the levels of p-JNK and cleaved-caspase-3 proteins. Therefore, OMT-induced injury in L02 cells was related to ROS mediated p-JNK and ER stress induction. Antioxidant, by inhibition of p-JNK or ER stress, may be a feasible method to alleviate OMT-induced liver injury.

      • An Improved PSO-based of Harmony Search for Complicated Optimization Problems

        LI Hong-qi,LI Li,Tai-hoon Kim,XIE Shao-long 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.1 No.3

As an optimization technique, particle swarm optimization (PSO) has obtained much attention during the past decade. It is gaining popularity, especially because of the speed of convergence and the fact that it is easy to realize. To enhance the performance of PSO, an improved hybrid particle swarm optimization (IPSO) is proposed to solve complex optimization problems more efficiently, accurately and reliably. It provides a new way of producing new individuals through organically merges the harmony search (HS) method into particle swarm optimization (PSO). During the course of evolvement, harmony search is used to generate new solutions and this makes IPSO algorithm have more powerful exploitation capabilities. Simulation results and comparisons with the standard PSO based on several well-studied benchmarks demonstrate that the IPSO can effectively enhance the searching efficiency and greatly improve the search quality.

      • Preparation and Characterization of Anti-GP73 Monoclonal Antibodies and Development of Double-antibody Sandwich ELISA

        Li, Qi-Wen,Chen, Hong-Bing,Li, Zhi-Yang,Shen, Peng,Qu, Li-Li,Gong, Lai-Ling,Xu, Hong-Pan,Pang, Lu,Si, Jin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.5

Background: Serum Golgi protein 73 (GP73) as a novel and potential marker for diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been found to be elevated in HCC patients and associated with clinical variables representing tumor growth and invasiveness. The aim of this study was to prepare a pair of monoclonal antibodys (mAbs) against GP73 and develop a newly designed double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (s-ELISA), which would be used in the detection of serum GP73 (sGP73) as well as in the diagnosis of HCC. Materials and Methods: Produced by prokaryotic expression, the purified recombinant GP73 (rGP73), produced by prokaryotic expression, was used to immunize the Balb/c mice. Two hybridoma cell lines against GP73 were obtained by fusing mouse Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from the immunized mice. The titers of anti-GP73 mAb reached 1:243,000. Western blotting analysis and Immunohistochemistry staining revealed that anti-GP73 mAb could recognize GP73 protein. The double-antibody s-ELISA was successfully established and validated by 119 HCC and 103 normal serum samples. Results: showed that the detection limit of this method could reach 1.56 ng/ml, and sGP73 levels in HCC group (mean=190.6 ng/ml) were much higher than those of in healthy controls (mean=70.92 ng/ml). Conclusions: Results of our study not only showed that sGP73 levels of HCC patients were significantly higher than those of healthy controls, but also indicated that the laboratory homemade anti-GP73 mAbs could be the optimal tool used in evaluating sGP73 levels, which would provide a solid foundation for subsequent clinical applications.
