최대/최소 경계 스키마 추출 기법을 이용한 XML 문서의 DTD 추출
박경현,최은선,이종연,박정석,류근호 충북대학교 컴퓨터정보통신 연구소 2000 컴퓨터정보통신연구 Vol.8 No.2
XML makes it possible for data to be exchanged regardless of the data model in which it is represented or the platform on which it is stored, serving as a standard for data exchange format on the internet. Especially, It is natural to send XML data without DTD on the internet when XML is data-centric XML. Therefore it is needed to extract DTD to store XML data efficiently, to optimize queries, and to help users browse XML data. In this paper, Techniques for upper/lower bound schema extraction are applied to extract DTD from XML data. Especially we propose an efficient technique for extracting DTD by using simulation which is better than datalog as a lower bound schema extraction method.

<P/><P>The kinetics of translocation of the homeodomain transcription factor HoxD9 between specific sites of the same or opposite polarities on the same DNA molecule have been studied by 15N<I>z</I>-exchange NMR spectroscopy. We show that exchange occurs by two facilitated diffusion mechanisms: a second-order intermolecular exchange reaction between specific sites located on different DNA molecules without the protein dissociating into free solution that predominates at high concentrations of free DNA, and a first-order intramolecular process involving direct transfer between specific sites located on the same DNA molecule. Control experiments using a mixture of two DNA molecules, each possessing only a single specific site, indicate that transfer between specific sites by full dissociation of HoxD9 into solution followed by reassociation is too slow to measure by <I>z</I>-exchange spectroscopy. Intramolecular transfer with comparable rate constants occurs between sites of the same and opposing polarity, indicating that both rotation-coupled sliding and hopping/flipping (analogous to geminate recombination) occur. The half-life for intramolecular transfer (0.5–1 s) is many orders of magnitude larger than the calculated transfer time (1–100 μs) by sliding, leading us to conclude that the intramolecular transfer rates measured by <I>z</I>-exchange spectroscopy represent the rate-limiting step for a one-base-pair shift from the specific site to the immediately adjacent nonspecific site. At zero concentration of added salt, the intramolecular transfer rate constants between sites of opposing polarity are smaller than those between sites of the same polarity, suggesting that hopping/flipping may become rate-limiting at very low salt concentrations.</P>

<P>Although N-glycosylation has been known to increase the stability of glycoproteins, it is difficult to assess the structural importance of glycans in the stabilization of glycoproteins. APA (Antheraea pernyi arylphorin) is an insect hexamerin that has two N-glycosylations at Asn196 and Asn344 respectively. The glycosylation of Asn344 is critical for the folding process; however, glycosylation of Asn196 is not. Interestingly, the N196-glycan (glycosylation of Asn196) remains in an immature form (Glc1Man9GlcNAc2). The mutation of Asn196 to glutamine does not change the ecdysone-binding activity relative to that of the wild-type. In the present study, we determined the crystal structure of APA, and all sugar moieties of the N196-glycan were clearly observed in the electron-density map. Although the sugar moieties of the glycan generally have high structural flexibility, most sugar moieties of the N196-glycan were well organized in the deep cleft of the subunit interface and mediated many inter- and intrasubunit hydrogen bonds. Analytical ultracentrifugation and GdmCl (guanidinium chloride) unfolding experiments revealed that the presence of the N196-glycan was important for stabilizing the hexameric state and overall stability of APA respectively. Our results could provide a structural basis for studying not only other glycoproteins that carry an immature N-glycan, but also the structural role of N-glycans that are located in the deep cleft of a protein.</P>

Background: Osteoporosis is an important comorbidity in patients with COPD. Osteoporosis and its complication such as fracture cause poor quality of life and even mortality. We investigated risk factors of osteoporosis in COPD patients. Methods: We analyzed data from the 2008-2011 KNHANES. Subjects who aged 40 years or more and performed acceptable and qualified spirometry, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, the nutrition examination survey, and serum vitamin D measurements were enrolled. COPD was defined as an FEV₁/FVC < 0.7. Osteoporosis was defined as a bone mineral density (BMD) T-score =-2.5 at femur or lumbar spine. Results: A total of 881 subjects with COPD were enrolled, and 141 (16%) had osteoporosis. Epidemiologic and nutritional variables and serum vitamin D levels of osteoporosis group were compared with those of non-osteoporosis group, and variables for multiple logistic regression model were selected. Old age (60-69 years vs. 40-49 years, OR 33.78, 95% CI 3.60-317.14), female (OR 15.54, 95% CI 6.71-36.00), low body mass index (BMI) (< 18.5 kg/m² vs. 18.5-25 kg/m², OR 14.24, 95% CI 4.38-46.31), lack of moderate exercise (exercise vs. lack of exercise, OR 0.41, 95% CI 0.19-0.88), and lower intake of carotene (per 1000 mg increase, OR 0.88, 95% CI 0.79-0.97) were independently associated with osteoporosis in COPD subjects. Although vitamin D deficiency, defined as serum levels < 20 ng/mL, was more prevalent in COPD subjects with osteoporosis, multiple logistic analysis failed to show statistical significance. Conclusions: Old age, female, low BMI, lack of exercise, and lower carotene intake were risk factors of osteoporosis in COPD. <P>The Long-term Hydrologic Impact Assessment Model with Asymptotic Curve Number Regression Equation and Water Quality model (L-THIA ACN-WQ) has been developed to simulate streamflow as well as instream water quality using fewer parameters, compared to other watershed models. However, since model input parameters (i.e. hydraulic response unit (HRU) map, stream network, database (DB), etc.) should be built by user manually, it is difficult to use the model for a nonprofessional or environmental policy decision-maker. In addition, it is difficult to analyze model outputs in time and space because the model does not provide geographic information system (GIS) information for the simulation results. To overcome the limitations, an advanced version of L-THIA ACN-WQ system which is based on ArcGIS interface was developed in this study. To evaluate the applicability of the developed system, it was applied to the Banbyeon A watershed in which total maximum daily load (TMDL) has been implemented. The required model input datasets were automatically collected in the system, and stream flow, T-N and T-P pollutant loads were simulated for the watershed. Furthermore, flow duration curve (FDC) and load duration curve (LDC) were generated to analyze hot spot areas in the system through automatic processes included in the system. The system can establish the model input data easily, automatically provide the graphs of FDC and LDC, and provide hot spot areas which indicate high pollutant loads. Therefore, this system can be useful in establishing various watershed management plans.</P>

A nasal NK/T cell lymphoma is a very aggressive form of lymphoma. Patterns of relapse after treatment have not been systematically evaluated, and mediastinal nodal relapse at a primary site has never been documented. We describe here a 40-year old man who presented with a nasal obstruction caused by a protruding mass that was identified as a nasal NK/T cell lymphoma. The initial work-up, including chest and abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET), showed no regional or distant metastasis. A CT scan performed following three cycles of chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone (CHOP) showed that the mass had nearly disappeared. Radiation therapy undertaken following chemotherapy was given to the primary site. However, PET performed following radiotherapy revealed a single mediastinal lymphadenopathy, with no evidence of residual tumor in the nasal cavity. A biopsy using video-assisted thoracoscopy (VATS) showed the presence of a recurrent NK/T cell lymphoma with an immunophenotype identical to that of the primary nasal lymphoma. An additional three cycles of CHOP chemotherapy were administered, and the patient remains alive, with no evidence of disease 30 months after the initial relapse. These findings indicate that early detection with PET and prompt surgical excision with the use of VATS can lead to successful treatment of a relapsed nasal NK/T cell lymphoma.
