Socio-cultural motivation in women’s entrepreneurship: Exploring the handloom industry in Assam
Kishor Goswami,Bhabesh Hazarika,Kalpana Handique 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 2019 Asian Journal of Women's Studies(AJWS) Vol.25 No.3
This paper attempts to develop a few measures or scales of entrepreneurial motives of women, given the socio-cultural factors in developing economies. Within the push–pull theory of entrepreneurial motivation, we use exploratory factor analysis with an orthogonal varimax rotation technique to examine entrepreneurial motivation, integrating it with socio-cultural beliefs. We identify five entrepreneurial motives—self-dependence, preserving handloom culture, providing monetary support, formal job environment, and work-flexibility. Within socially constructed gender roles, generic desires of women are crucial for entrepreneurial behavior. Contrary to existing findings, we found that women with a higher desire to provide monetary support to their family were found to be less likely to become micro-entrepreneurs, which can be accounted for their poor economic conditions, a significant risk-averse attitude, and credit constraints. The scales constructed could be used across cultures, especially in developing economies. Their replication should provide an understanding of why women micro-entrepreneurs tend to be concentrated in specific sectors, resulting in gender segregation. Given the context specific measurement items, scholars interested in studying socio-cultural attributes in entrepreneurial motivation can further develop and validate the multi-item constructs that distinguish women’s motivations for specific activities.
Environmentally friendly machining with MoS 2 -filled mechanically microtextured cutting tools
Kishor Kumar Gajrani,Mamilla Ravi Sankar,Uday Shanker Dixit 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.8
This work aims to develop an environmentally friendly manufacturing by avoiding the use of cutting fluids during machining and reducing power consumption. Here, texture was fabricated on the rake face of the plasma-nitrided high-speed steel cutting tool by using a scratch tester. Molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) solid lubricant was filled into this mechanically developed texture to form a self-lubricating tool. Dry turning experiments were conducted using the MoS 2 -filled textured, unfilled textured, and plain (conventional) cutting tools to evaluate and compare their machining performance in terms of workpiece temperature, machining force, workpiece centerline average surface roughness, coefficient of friction, and chip morphology. Results revealed that filled textured cutting tools considerably improve the machining performance compared with those of plain and unfilled textured cutting tools. Therefore, these tools can eliminate the use of cutting fluids and minimize energy consumption.
Genotypic Variation among Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) Germplasms in South India
( Kishor Doddanakatte Shivaramegowda ),( Arya Krishnan ),( Yogeesh Kebbahalli Jayaramu ),( Vinod Kumar ),( Yashoda ),( Hee Jong Koh ) 한국육종학회 2016 Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Vol.4 No.2
Thirty-six okra germplasms were grown and evaluated for yield and yield related traits at the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Vellayani, Trivandrum, Kerala. The germplasms studied possessed sufficient variability for all the traits. High genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) were noticed for almost all characters and narrow difference between GCV and PCV suggest that environmental influence is minimal for the traits studied. High estimates of heritability coupled with high to moderate genetic advance as percent over mean was recorded for all the characters considered. Yield had positive and significant association with number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, fruit girth and number of primary branches indicating that selection based on these characters may improve yield. Principal component analysis indicated that first three principal components contributed for sixty percent total variation among ten characters describing accessions. The cluster analysis revealed that hybridization of cluster I with cluster IV would be beneficial to develop promising varieties under diverse climatic conditions in India.

Objective: The aim of this study was to formulate an objective clinical and geometric relationship between Cobb angle and the difference between the lengths of convex and concave sides (convexo-concave vertebral difference) of the structural curve in scoliosis. Is it possible to express Cobb angle in such a way that it could be visualized as a length, especially while planning for surgical correction of scoliosis? Methods: Thirty consecutive patients below the age of 19 years with a scoliosis of Cobb angle more than 10 degrees were included in the study. Convexo-concave vertebral difference of the structural curve was measured. Its relationship with the measure of Cobb angle was studied. Results: Author obtained a significant linear correlation between the convexo-concave vertebral differences and the Cobb angle. Using the formula Y=2d.Sin (X/2) the convexo-concave vertebral difference could be predicted. The difference thus obtained gives a quantitative measure of the maximum length of correction possible in the structural curve. Conclusion: It is possible to express the Cobb angle as a function of linear measurement. The author proposes that this would aid the surgeons to accurately and predictably achieve the desired scoliosis correction.

The selection and effective utilization of peak-fitting software for conventional gamma-ray spectrumanalysis is significant for accurate determination of the mass fraction of elements, particularly in complexpeak regions. Majority of the peak-fitting programs can derive similar peak characteristics for singletpeaks, but very few programs can deconvolute multi-peaks in a complex region. The deconvolution ofmulti-peaks requires special peak-fitting functions, such as left and right-skew distributions. In the thisstudy, 843.76 keV (27Mg) peak area from the complex region (840 keVe850 keV) determined andcompared using four different peak-fitting programs, namely, GammaVision, Genie2000, HyperLab, andHyperGam. The 843.76 keV peak interfered with 841.63 keV (152mEu) and 846.81 keV (56Mn). The totalMg concentration was determined through k0-instrumental neutron activation analysis by applying theisotopic interference correction factor 27Al(n,p)27Mg through the simultaneous determination of Alconcentration. HyperLab and HyperGam peak-fitting programs reported consistent peak areas, andresultant concentrations agreed with the certified values of matrix-certified reference materials.

Kishor, Shyam,Verma, Pushpendra Korean Mathematical Society 2022 대한수학회논문집 Vol.37 No.4
The object of the present paper is to study the properties of conharmonically flat (LCS)n-manifold, special weakly Ricci symmetric and generalized Ricci recurrent (LCS)n-manifold. The existence of such a manifold is ensured by non-trivial example.
