Comparison of Liver Transplantation and Liver Resection for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients with Portal Vein Tumor Thrombus Type I and Type II

        Jia-Yu Lv,Ning-Ning Zhang,Ya-Wei Du,Ying Wu,Tian-Qiang Song,Ya-Min Zhang,Yan Qu,Yu-Xin Liu,Jie Gu,Ze-Yu Wang,Yi-Bo Qiu,Bing Yang,Da-Zhi Tian,Qing-Jun Guo,Li Zhang,Ji-San Sun,Yan Xie,Zheng-Lu Wang,Xin 연세대학교의과대학 2021 Yonsei medical journal Vol.62 No.1

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of liver transplantation (LT) and liver resection (LR) for hepatocellularcarcinoma (HCC) patients with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) and to investigate risk factors affecting prognosis. Materials and Methods: A total of 94 HCC patients with PVTT type I (segmental PVTT) and PVTT type II (lobar PVTT) were involvedand divided into LR (n=47) and LT groups (n=47). Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were comparedbefore and after inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW). Prognostic factors for RFS and OS were explored. Results: Two treatment groups were well-balanced using IPTW. In the entire cohort, LT provided a better prognosis than LR. Among patients with PVTT type I, RFS was better with LT (p=0.039); OS was not different significantly between LT and LR(p=0.093). In subgroup analysis of PVTT type I patients with α-fetoprotein (AFP) levels >200 ng/mL, LT elicited significantly longermedian RFS (18.0 months vs. 2.1 months, p=0.022) and relatively longer median OS time (23.6 months vs. 9.8 months, p=0.065). Among patients with PVTT type II, no significant differences in RFS and OS were found between LT and LR (p=0.115 and 0.335,respectively). Multivariate analyses showed treatment allocation (LR), tumor size (>5 cm), AFP and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) levels to be risk factors of RFS and treatment allocation (LR), AFP and AST as risk factors for OS. Conclusion: LT appeared to afford a better prognosis for HCC with PVTT type I than LR, especially in patients with AFP levels>200 ng/mL.

Study on the Purification of Polysaccharides from Noscoc flagelliforme with Radial Flow Chromatography

        Yu-Jie Dai,Jing-Wen Wang,Shi-Ru Jia,Si-Jun Yue,Meng-Yao Jia,Peng Xu 한국생물공학회 2009 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.14 No.3

The isolation and purification of polysaccharide from Noscoc flagelliforme by radial flow chromatography were studied. The column (7.7 cm of bed length and 229.6 cm³ of bed volume) was packed with DEAE-01 anion ion-exchange resin and gradient eluted with NaCl solutions. The content of the polysaccharide was determined with the phenol-sulfuric acid method. The effects of sampling weight, elution velocity, and elution concentration gradient on the separation efficiency were examined and three isolated peaks were obtained. The optimal separation conditions are 10 mg of the sampling weight (sampling volume is 20 mL), 1.0 mL/min of the elution velocity, and 1.00 mol/L² of NaCl gradient elution. The adjacent peak resolutions among the three main components (1, 2, and 3 according to their elution order) are 0.660 (o12) and 0.786 (o23), respectively. It is deduced that 39.8 cm of the bed length is required for the fully separation of the three polysaccharides The isolation and purification of polysaccharide from Noscoc flagelliforme by radial flow chromatography were studied. Framework for Calculating the Vertical Human-Induced Vibration of the Suspension Footbridge Under the Random Pedestrian Flow

        Yu Li,Dong-Shuo Yin,Jia-Hao Wang,Jia-Wu Li 한국강구조학회 2022 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.22 No.5

Currently, the problem of human-induced vibration of suspension footbridges is a research hotspot in bridge engineering. Moreover, on the suspension footbridge deck, the walking parameters of pedestrians, the simulation of random pedestrian fl ow, and the calculation method of human-induced vibration are the keys to solving the above problem. Therefore, in this paper, the following three studies have been carried out: (1) Firstly, the Jiufengshan suspension footbridge was taken as the observation site, and the statistical values of the step frequency ( f ), step length ( l ), and walking velocity ( v ) of pedestrians on the suspension footbridge deck were investigated and obtained. (2) Secondly, by combining the “social force model” with the obtained f , l , and v , a Matlab program was compiled to simulate the random pedestrian fl ow on the suspension footbridge deck. (3) Finally, by combining the above program with the vertical vibration equations of the human–footbridge coupling system, a Matlab program was compiled to calculate the vertical human-induced vibration of the suspension footbridge deck, which then was used to study the infl uence of the random pedestrian fl ow and human–footbridge coupling eff ect on the vertical human-induced vibration of the suspension footbridge deck. So, the above studies can provide a meaningful reference for the design of suspension footbridges.

Ketamine induces neuronal apoptosis and cognitive disorder via miR-199a-5p/HIF-1α in neonatal rats

        Jia Yan,Yue Yu,Yu Sun,Rong Hu,Hong Jiang 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2017 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.13 No.4

It reported that repeated administration of clinical doses of ketamine could induce neuronal apoptosis in the immature brain. In this study, SpragueDawley postnatal day 7 rats were treated with ketamine. As the rats grew, we found ketamine impaired the cognitive function of the rats. Ketamine increased HIF1α level in the brain tissues of rats as compared to the control group and YC-1 rescued those effects. The escape latency and the platform crossing time of Morris water maze decreased in the YC-1-treated rats compared to the control in ketamine-treated rats. We also found that ketamine decreased the expression of miR199a-5p and HIF-1α is a directly target of miR-199a5p. Administration of ketamine also decrease the cell activity while YC-1 and MiR-199a-5p mimics rescued the inhibition effect. In conclusion, we suggest that ketamine-induced neuronal apoptosis in neonatal rats, followed by learning and memory impairment, might be mediated via the miR-199a-5p/HIF-1α signalling pathway.

      • Case-Control Study of Diet in Patients with Cervical Cancer or Precancerosis in Wufeng, a High Incidence Region in China

        Jia, Yao,Hu, Ting,Hang, Chuan-Ying,Yang, Ru,Li, Xiong,Chen, Zhi-Lan,Mei, Ye-Dong,Zhang, Qing-Hua,Huang, Ke-Cheng,Xiang, Qun-Ying,Pan, Xiu-Yu,Yan, Yu-Ting,Wang, Xiao-Li,Wang, Shao-Shuai,Hang, Zhou,Tang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.10

Purpose: To investigate the diet of patients with cervical cancer and precancerosis in the Wufeng area, a high-incidence region in China. Methods: In the case group, 104 patients diagnosed with cervical cancer or cervical intraepithelial neoplasias (CINII/III) were recruited from the Wufeng area. Nine hundred thirty-six healthy women were selected from the same area as the matched controls. A questionnaire, which included questions about general lifestyle conditions, smoking and alcohol status, source of drinking water, green tea intake, and diet in the past year, was presented to all participants. Results: Green tea intake (P=0.022, OR=0.551, 95% CI=0.330-0.919) and vegetable intake (P=0.035, OR=0.896, 95% CI=0.809-0.993) were identified as protective factors against cervical cancer or CINII/III. There was no indication of any associations of other lifestyle factors (smoking status, alcohol status, source of drinking water) or diet (intake of fruit, meat/egg/milk, soybean food, onion/garlic, staple food and pickled food) with cervical cancer. Conclusions: The results suggest that eating more fresh vegetables and drinking more green tea may help to reduce the risk of cervical cancer or CINII/III in people of the Wufeng area.

Radio Resource Management of CoMP System in HetNet under Power and Backhaul Constraints

( Jia Yu ),( Shaohua Wu ),( Xiaodong Lin ),( Qinyu Zhang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2014 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.8 No.11

Recently, Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) with Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) scheme is introduced into Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) systems to improve digital services for User Equipments (UEs), especially for cell-edge UEs. However, Radio Resource Management (RRM), including Resource Block (RB) scheduling and Power Allocation (PA), in this scenario becomes challenging, due to the intercell cooperation. In this paper, we investigate the RRM problem for downlink transmission of HetNet system with Joint Processing (JP) CoMP (both joint transmission and dynamic cell selection schemes), aiming at maximizing weighted sum data rate under the constraints of both transmission power and backhaul capacity. First, joint RB scheduling and PA problem is formulated as a constrained Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) which is NP-hard. To simplify the formulation problem, we decompose it into two problems of RB scheduling and PA. For RB scheduling, we propose an algorithm with less computational complexity to achieve a suboptimal solution. Then, according to the obtained scheduling results, we present an iterative Karush-Kuhn- Tucker (KKT) method to solve the PA problem. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithms. Two kinds of JP CoMP schemes are compared with a non-CoMP greedy scheme (max capacity scheme). Simulation results prove that the CoMP schemes with the proposed RRM algorithms dramatically enhance data rate of cell-edge UEs, thereby improving UEs` fairness of data rate. Also, it is shown that the proposed PA algorithms can decrease power consumption of transmission antennas without loss of transmission performance.

Anomalous doping effect in black phosphorene using first-principles calculations

        Yu, Weiyang,Zhu, Zhili,Niu, Chun-Yao,Li, Chong,Cho, Jun-Hyung,Jia, Yu The Royal Society of Chemistry 2015 Physical chemistry chemical physics Vol.17 No.25

Using first-principles density functional theory calculations, we investigate the geometries, electronic structures, and thermodynamic stabilities of substitutionally doped phosphorene sheets with group III, IV, V, and VI elements. We find that the electronic properties of phosphorene are drastically modified by the number of valence electrons in dopant atoms. The dopants with an even number of valence electrons enable the doped phosphorenes to have a metallic feature, while the dopants with an odd number of valence electrons retain a semiconducting feature. This even–odd oscillating behavior is attributed to the peculiar bonding characteristics of phosphorene and the strong hybridization of sp orbitals between dopants and phosphorene. Furthermore, the calculated formation energies of various substitutional dopants in phosphorene show that such doped systems can be thermodynamically stable. These results propose an intriguing route to tune the transport properties of electronic and photoelectronic devices based on phosphorene.

Graphic Abstract

Using first-principles density functional theory calculations, we investigate the geometries, electronic structures, and thermodynamic stabilities of substitutionally doped phosphorene sheets with group III, IV, V, and VI elements.
