Multiplex PCR Detection for 3 Events of Genetically Modified Maize, DAS-59122-7, TC6275, and MIR604

A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method was developed to simultaneously detect 3 events of genetically modified (GM) maize. The event-specific primers were used to discriminate the following 3 events of GM maize (DAS-59122-7, TC6275, and MIR604) using multiplex PCR method. The zein gene was used as an endogenous maize reference gene in the multiplex PCR detection. The primer pair Zein-F/R producing a 99 bp amplicon was used to amplify the zein gene. The primer JI-Das-F1/R1 for DAS-59122-7, JI-TC6275-F3/R3 for TC6275, and JI-MIR F1/R1 for MIR604 yielded an amplicon of 130, 162, and 197 bp, respectively. The detection limit of multiplex PCR was 1% for DAS-59122-7, TC6275, and MIR604 for one reaction.
Solar urticaria in Korean patients

Background: Solar urticaria (SU) is an uncommon type of photodermatoses characterized by erythematous wheal with pruritus after sunlight exposure, which shows a female predominance. Only a few studies to analyze the clinical features of SU were reported in Asia. Objectives: We aimed to analyze the clinical and photobiological characteristics of SU in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively investigated the medical records of patients with SU who visited the department of dermatology, Konkuk university medical center from January 2005 to January 2020. Results: Of a total of 44 patients, 36 (81.8%) were male and 8 (18.2%) were female. The mean age at onset was 17.6 years (range, 5-47) and the mean threshold time was 19.7 minutes. Among 32 patients who underwent phototesting, the action spectrum most commonly implicated was ultraviolet (UV) A only in 12 (37.5%), and then visible light (415nm) only was responsible for SU in 8 (25.0%). Three patients (9.4%) were induced by both UVA and visible light (415nm). Even 4 patients (12.5%) were triggered by only natural sunlight. Serum immunoglobulin E levels were measured in 33 patients, and 17 (51.5%) showed values higher than normal. The treatment most widely used were oral antihistamine (43.2%), followed by phototherapy (13.6%). Conclusion: SU is a rare photodermatosis in Korea, which shows a male preponderance. In this study, UVA and visible light (415nm) were predominant action spectrum of SU.

FE-MILC(Field Enhanced Metal Induced Lateral crystallization) growth rate of amorphous silicon thin film and its microstructure were intensively investigated. In the case of applying E-field, the growth rate was drastically increased toward (+) pole direction, while the growth rate toward (-) pole was decreased. It was revealed that the microstructure of MILC area was changed by applying E-field and its direcction, which was investigated by FE(Feild-Emission)-SEM. These Phenomena can be explained by hopping model of Ni ion and Ni vacancy in the NiSi_(2) phase and its interface at the front pf MILC region. (Received February 2, 2004)
The Beneficial Effect of Adenophorae Radix on DSS‐induced Colitis in Mice

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease, which is a chronic gastrointestinal disorder. Adenophorae Radix (AR) has been used as a traditional medicine for various diseases including strengthening cardiac function, allaying a fever, and easing pain and cough. However, the regulatory effects of AR in intestinal inflammation are not yet understood. This study attempted to determine the effect of AR in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) ? induced colitis in mice. The colitis mice were induced by drinking water containing 5% DSS for 7 days. The results showed that mice treated with DSS showed remarkable clinical signs, including weight loss, and reduced colon length. Administration of AR attenuated weight loss, colon shortening and inhibited the levels of interleukin (IL) ? 6 in DSS ? treated colon tissues. These results provide experimental evidence that AR might be a useful therapeutic medicine for patients with UC.
경골 Pilon 골절 후 가동술(mobilization)과 복합운동 적용사례 : 증례 보고

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of mobilization application for the lower extremity after fibula Pilon fracture operation patient. Methods: The subjects was 62 years old male who was injury of Lt. fibula shaft Fx., 3 cuneiform & cuboid Fx., 2.3.4 metatarsal bone Fx.. We were compared to result of physical therapy between pre and post exercise for 2weeks. Results: The results of this study were summarized below; The mobilization application of the Lt. lower extremity was significantly differences of the ROM at pre and post therapy after 2 weeks, especially in knee flexion (40˚). The increased of accessary movement was evaluated to increased of the physiologic movement about the joints of the lower extremity. Conclusion: We consider that factors of therapy result were not only fracture types, operation and reduction methods for the fibula Pilon fracture but also the ability of physical therapist's manual techniques.

Dummy-Bar Head is used for continuous casting equipment. It is heated up at high temperature and cooled down repeatedly in using. Then the thermal extension by thermal stress and high temperature oxidation occur to it. This easily results in heating damage because Head, contact with melting metal, appears in micro-crack and tension force. In other words, it is material that gives the greatest influence in endurance life. The method of study is to compare and evaluate present material and improved material by the new alloy design. In conclusion, the results are as follows : 1) I think that the following range is suitable to chemical component. ◁표 삽입▷(원문을 참조하세요) 2) Micro-crack occurs in repeated heating and cooling owing to decarburization and thermal extension. Adding carbide stability elements-Cr, Mn, and V-shows martensite and less micro-crack. 3) Dummy-Bar Head is a large cast steel, An effective heat treatment condition is to heat step by step and to cool by force at 880℃. After that, It is effective to cool at 600∼680℃. 4) Improved product maintains the even hardness value. And impact value is over three times higher than present product for repeated heating and cooling. 5) The transition range over the fracture toughness value has smaller in improved product than present product for repeated heating and cooling. Through the fracture toughness evaluation, the characteristics of change is evaluated in materials. And we can make the predictable criteria of life with Refrica method. According to the analysis and investigation of the real condition is use, the improved product is accomplished in optimal alloying design and product processing, and satifies the required condition. I think that it is widely used as proper materials to a higher temperature concerning the economy.
Ribes fasciculatum var. chinense Attenuated Allergic Inflammation In Vivo and In Vitro

However, the exact mechanism that accounts for the anti-inflammatory effect of R. fasciculatum is not completely understood. We aimed to ascertain the pharmacological effects of R. fasciculatum on both compound 48/80- or histamine-induced scratching behaviors and 2, 4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB)-induced atopic dermatitis (AD) in mice. Additionally, to find a possible explanation for the anti-inflammatory effects of R. fasciculatum, we evaluated the effects of R. fasciculatum on the production of inflammatory mediators in LPS-stimulated macrophage cells. Treatment of R. fasciculatum significantly reduced compound 48/80- or histamine-induced the pruritus in mice. R. fasciculatum attenuated the AD symptoms such as eczematous, erythema and dryness and serum IgE levels in AD model. Additionally, R. fasciculatum inhibited the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). The maximal rates of TNF-α and IL-6 inhibition by R. fasciculatum (1 mg/ml) were approximately 32.12% and 46.24%, respectively. We also showed that R. fasciculatum inhibited the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B in LPS-stimulated macrophages. Collectively, the findings of this study provide us with novel insights into the pharmacological actions of R. fasciculatum as a potential molecule for use in the treatment of allergic inflammatory diseases.
