This paper is an overview and a brief review of the different procedures that are available for fitting theoretical distributions to data. The use of each technique is illustrated by reference to a distribution system which including the Pearson, Johnson and Burr functions. These functions can be used to calculate percent out of specification . Accordingly, in this paper a new methods for estimating a measure of process capability for Non-normally distributed variable data proposed using the percentage nonconforming.

This study presents a model which treats the manufacturing cycle time as a function of the lot size in a multi-stage production system. In general, the cost tied up in work-in-process inventory in certain industries can be as high as 60 percent of that of the total. This study presents a model which treats the manufacturing cycle time as a function of the lot size in a multi-stage production system. In general, the cost tied up in work-in-process inventory in certain industries can be as high as 60 percent of that of the total inventory cost. When a recurring production order is manufactured in long runs, marketing has to wait until a long run is competed. This forced waiting time is often caused by the application of the conventional ELQ model, which is widely used in industry. Thus, this study has illustrated the functional relationship between the manufacturing cycle time and the process inventory. Using this functional relationship to determine the magnitude of the work-in-process inventory, a model is developed to calculate the economic production quantity(EPQ). This model is a valid alternative to the conventional production lot size(ELQ) model which only accounts for the finished product inventory.

Extramammary Paget disease (EMPD) is a rare adenocarcinoma that usually occurs in areas of the body that are rich in apocrine sweat glands. Great depth of tumor invasion is a well-known risk factor for worse prognosis. Paget cells usually are limited to the epidermis, whereas invasive EMPD, which infiltrates the dermis, is relatively rare. It is even rarer for the tumor to spread beyond the dermis. Only 3.1% of patients with EMPD of the penis and scrotum have exhibited infiltration of the subcutaneous fat layer. We report a case of a 62-year-old male with EMPD that invaded the subcutaneous fat layer. He presented with a several-year history of a slowly expanding erythematous plaque with the hypopigmented area on the left penoscrotum. One month before presentation, the patient had undergone punch biopsy at another hospital and diagnosed with EMPD. He had no personal history of urogenital cancers. The patient was treated with Mohs micrographic surgery, and negative margins were achieved after four stages. The histopathologic findings revealed Paget cells scattered throughout the epidermis. At the hypopigmented area, Paget cells extended to the subcutaneous fat layer with lymphovascular invasion. There was no evidence of recurrence at seven months postoperatively. Herein, we describe a case of hypopigmented EMPD that infiltrated the subcutaneous layer, which rarely has been reported in Korea.
Fish Materials as Potent Attractants for the Male of Bean Bug, Riptortus clavatus

Fish materials were tested for their attractiveness to the bean bug, Riptortus clavatus (Thunberg) (Heteroptera: Alydidae) in a soybean field. Fish materials' volatiles evoked male-specific responses in attractiveness. Fish materials such as mackerel, hairtail, and gizzard shad attracted significantly higher number of males than control, but they were not attractive to females. The attractiveness of MeOH extract of mackerel to R. clavatus males was not different from 10 live males and aggregation pheromone traps of R. clavatus. Further studies are needed to identify volatile compound(5) from fish smell responsible for the attraction of R. clavatus males.
An Excimer Laser-Induced Eruptive Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous hyperplasia (SH) is a benign proliferation of the sebaceous glands. Ultraviolet radiation is known to be the cofactor for the pathogenesis of SH. Frequently reported adverse events of 308-nm excimer laser are erythema, burning or pain, and itching sensation. However, the role of excimer laser as an aetiological factor of SH is rarely reported in the literature. A 59-year-old female presented with several elevated, umbilicated papules on the face. Papular eruption appeared abruptly after 11 weeks of treatment for vitiligo which includes 308-nm excimer laser therapy. The distribution of lesion was associated with the treated area. Total cumulative dose was 3,300 mJ/㎠ over 16 sessions. Histopathologic findings showed enlarged sebaceous glands composed of numerous lobules around a centrally located, widened sebaceous duct. Chronic sun exposure clinically causes SH was proved in the previous animal studies. Thus, we introduce a rare case of eruptive SH in the patient treated with 308-nm excimer laser.

Background: Laser treatment for dermal melanocytosis is often unsatisfactory. The picosecond-domain, 755-nm alexandrite laser has been proposed as a promising therapeutic option in Asian. Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a 755-nm picosecond alexandrite laser for the treatment of dermal melanocytosis. Methods: This prospective open-labeled trial comprised 25 Korean subjects with dermal melanocytosis. Subjects received three laser treatments at 8-week intervals. Parameters were set at 700-picosecond pulse width, fluence of 3 J/㎠, 3-mm spot size, and 4 Hz repetition rate and modified to the extents of 10 % depending on the therapeutic response. All were evaluated at every visit and 3 months after the final treatment (28 weeks from the baseline). Melanin index (MI) was measured and two blinded dermatologists rated clinical improvement using physicians’ global assessment (PGA) based on standardized photographs. Patients’ self-assessment and adverse events were also recorded. Results: Mean MI showed significant improvement compared with baseline at week 28 (p<0.001; mean differences of -0.02). On PGA, 50 % (12/24) and 16.7 % (4/24) of subjects were reported at least moderate improvement and marked improvement at week 28, respectively. All the adverse reactions were mild and transient. Conclusion: The 755-nm picosecond alexandrite laser can be an effective and safe treatment option to treat dermal melanocytosis in Asian.

Background: Telogen effluvium (TE) is the most common cause of diffuse hair loss. TE tends to be related to external causes. However, the connection between vitamin D and TE has not been established. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in patients with TE. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies on TE and prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency/ deficiency before August 5, 2019 were performed searching EMBASE, Pubmed, and Cochrane library. Results: In all, 7 studies including a total of 658 TE subjects were analysed. 6 studies including a total of 580 were subject to evaluation for vitamin D deficiency. The pooled prevalence of all studies was 0.3787 [95% confidence interval 0.1479-0.6426]. There was a significant heterogeneity (I2 = 97.6%). Subgroup analyses of studies using the cut-off value less than 12 ng/mL (k = 3, 0.2301 [0.1057-0.3837], I2 = 86.2%) and studies performed in the U.S (k = 4, 0.2881 [0.1634-0.4312], I2 = 88.4%) resulted in the decrease of heterogeneity. Conclusion: Prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in the U.S was estimated 6%. Vitamin D deficiency in TE patients might be higher compared to general population in the U.S. Hence, vitamin D deficiency should be considered in TE patients. The limitation of this study is the small number of pooled studies, inconsistent definition of vitamin D deficiency between studies, and high heterogeneity.

Background: Cosmetic units are designated based on their similarity in topographic anatomy, texture and color, solar exposure, hair density, and sebaceous features. The difference of such features in facial port-wine stain (PWS) cases can affect the response to pulsed dye laser (PDL) treatment. Objective: To evaluate the response of facial PWS to PDL treatment based on the underlying cosmetic units. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 18 patients with facial PWS who received PDL treatment. For clinical assessment, three dermatologists evaluated the photographs taken before each treatment session. The response grade was assigned according to the quartile grading scale. The lesion was classified based on the underlying cosmetic units. Results: The cheek was the most (50%) commonly involved area. All PWS (6/6) confined to one cosmetic unit showed a marked improvement compared with 16% PWS (2/12) affecting two or more units (p<0.05). Patients with PWS within one cosmetic unit required fewer treatment sessions to achieve marked improvement. Conclusion: PWS confined to a single cosmetic unit than that located in two or more units responded better to PDL treatment. Before PDL treatment for facial PWS, age, initial lesion size, as well as the number of cosmetic units affected by the lesion should be considered. (Korean J Dermatol 2021;59(10):785∼792)
