      • What are the Characteristics and Qualities of Secondary Physical Education Teachers that Contribute to the Positive Changes in Students` Character?

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine what characteristics and qualities of a teacher bring out positive changes in students. In order to this, researcher investigated positive changes of students and PE teacher`s characteristics and qualities that promote students` changes. Method: This study used qualitative complex case study. Participants were 5 PE teachers who participate in community focusing on students` character development, and their 10 students. Non-participant observation and in-depth interview were used. In addition, open questionnaire was administered with 200 students. Collected data were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Triangulation, member checks, and peer debriefing were conducted to enhance the trustworthiness of this study. Result: First, character of students have changed in various way. Students internalized 4 virtues of In, Eui, Ye, Gi categorized as most comprehensive range. They made an effort to become those who are filled with love(In), justice(Eui), courtesy(Ye), wisdom(Gi). Second, positive change effects are not based on single dimension but it depends on overall dimensions such as health, wisdom, emotion, morality, and spirituality. Health as qualities of PE teacher is concerned with achieving excellence in sport performance and keeping in good shape. Wisdom is concerned with having knowledge about the methods of PE class and preparing, being well-informed of character education and applying it to PE class, and noticing and managing students` changes in character. Emotion is associated with believing relationship with student important and being contented with students` enjoyment. Morality is concerned with trying to become a whole person a good model. Spirituality is associated with cherishing PE, students, themselves, and god, and pursuing students` development to become a whole person. These characteristics and qualities of PE teachers influenced to students on the whole process such as preparation, execution, and reflection of PE classes. It showed a stronger influence on the students` character changes when PE teachers exert to reflect and compliment themselves. Conclusion: Character development in students is not based on teacher`s content knowledge and instructional techniques. Character of students can be positive only when PE teachers` wholeness involved on the whole. It should reflect to in-service education for PE teachers about students` character. Furthermore we must research more in depth about what types of qualities of teachers give students` change in some types of pathways.

        학교내 체육수업 개선의 실질적 장애요인에 대한 중학교 체육교사의 인식과 대처전략

        학교교육이 개선의 집중시선은 받고 있다. 학교체육도 예외는 아니며, 그 중에서도 체육수업의 질을 향상시켜야 한다는 목소리도 높다. 그러나, 학교체육에 약간이라도 실제적 관심을 가져보고, 교사생활은 조금이라도 해본 사람이라면, 체육수업의 개선이 얼마나 어려운 일인가를 잘 알고 있다. 그러나 학교체육의 개선은 피할 수 없으며 시급히 추진되어야 하는 과제이다. 본 연구의 목적은 학교체육 개선에 있어서 실질적으로 부정적 요소로 작용하는 저해요인들이 무엇인가에 대하여 체육교사들이 어떻게 생각하며, 이들은 실제적으로 어떤 방식으로 이 저해요인들을 극복하려는 대응노력들을 펼치는가를 파악하려는 것이다. 7명의 개선지향적 체육교사들을 대상으로 개방형 심층설문은 해본 곁과, 중요한 저해요인들로 인식적, 의지적, 풍토적, 제도적, 물리적 요인들이 관여하는 것으로 나타났다. 체육교사들은 이런 문제에 당면하여 스스로 해결하는 개별실행, 동료와의 상의를 통한 동료간협의, 자신의 문제해결능력을 증진시키는 전문능력개발의 전략을 채택하는 것으로 나타났다. 저해요인들의 원천과 대응전략들의 특징을 분석한 후, 학교체육 개선에 있어서 일차적 관심이 주목되어야하는 요인들로 체육교사의 의지와 체육부서의 풍토을 지적하였다. Schooling is getting educational reformers` attention. School physical education (PE) is not exception. Improvement of teaching in PE is said to be the most urgent. However, anyone who knows how the PE in schools is working would acknowledge the difficulty of change. Change in school PE is one of the most difficult challenges for school reformers. The purpose of this study is to identify PE teachers` perceptions on the constraints to the instructional change and their coping strategies. Seven (6 males and 1 female) change-oriented PE teachers whose teaching experiences range 2 to 16 years were asked to write on an open-ended, in-depth questionnaire. Main constraints were perceptual, willful, cultural, institutional, and physical ones. PE teachers coped with three strategies of individual action, cooperation with colleagues, and professional development. The sources of constraints and the characteristics of coping strategies were analyzed. The courage of individual teachers and the culture of PE department were emphasized for the two main centers for school PE change.

        방사선조사가 Porphyromonas gingivalis에 미치는 영향

        Purpose : The aim of this study was to observe a direct effect of irradiation on the periodontopathic Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis). Materials and Methods : P. gingivalis 2561 was exposed to irradiation with a single absorbed dose of 10, 20, 30, and 40 Gy. Changes in viability and antibiotic sensitivity, morphology, transcription, and protein profile of the bacterium after irradiation were examined by pour plating method, disc diffusion method, transmission electron microscopy, RT-PCR, and immunoblot, respectively. Results : Viability of irradiated P. gingivalis drastically reduced as irradiation dose was increased. Irradiated P. gingivalis was found to have become more sensitive to antibiotics as radiation dose was increased. With observation under the transmission electron microscope, the number of morphologically abnormal cells was increased with increasing of irradiation dose. In RT-PCR, decrease in the expression of fimA and sod was observed in irradiated P. gingivalis. In immunoblot, change of profile in irradiated P. gingivalis was found in a number of proteins including 43-kDa fimbrillin. Conclusion : These results suggest that irradiation may affect the cell integrity of P. gingivalis, which is manifested by the change in cell morphology and antibiotic sensitivity, affecting viability of the bacterium.

      • Newly emerging geminiviruses in Korea

        Geminiviruses are plant-infecting viruses with monopartite or bipartite single-stranded circular DNA genomes. They are known to be mediated by insects such as whiteflies, treehoppers, leafhoppers or aphids and can cause devastating plant diseases in a wide range of economically significant crops worldwide. In Korea, occurrence of geminiviruses were reported officially after the 2000s. Although Honeysuckle yellow vein virus (HYVV) and Sweet potato leaf curl virus (SPLCV) were identified from honeysuckle and sweet potato in 2004 and 2006 respectively, these viruses did not spread and cause much concern for geminiviruses. In 2008, Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) that has caused severe tomato production loss in many subtropical and tropical countries was first reported in tomato plants cultivated in Tongyeong. TYLCV rapidly spread through the country and has been continuously reported from tomato cultivating areas in Korea. In addition to TYLCV, Tobacco leaf curl virus and Sweet potato golden vein associated virus have occurred. In recent years, new geminiviruses including Papaya leaf curl Guangdong virus (PaLCGdV) and Euphorbia leaf curl virus (EuLCV) have been introduced. Newly emerging geminiviruses from tropical and subtropical countries are due to increased demand for various fruits and vegetables, and climate change. In addition, there are reports that some geminiviruses including TYLCV can be transmitted by infected seeds. Therefore it is important to study on epidemiology of virus introduction and spread among the countries and within country.

      • 두 가지 내용과 두 가지 방법 : 체육교육내용과 교육방법의 재음미

        It seems so obvious that the content of physical education is physical activity. More specifically, play, game, sport, gymnastics, and dance have been the major content of physical education. Practicing skills in those activities has been the main content of physical education. It is regarded that students can play and enjoy those activities after mastering skills. So the dominant way of physical education teachers' instruction has been demonstration of movement skills. Reading sport philosophers' or dance critics' comments on the nature and meaning of movement, however, it seems that different dimensions are involved in movement skills, and by implication, different ways of instructing different dimensions. In this study, two such dimensions of content and method of instruction are identified. Physical activity as the content of physical education is viewed as having at least two dimensions; those of 'skill' and 'perspective'. Skill is the usual aspect of physical activity by which a person can move and play. It is the means of playing games, sports or dance. Perspective is the dimension which is embedded in physical activity. It is the meaning of movement which is hidden behind the skill aspect of movement. It is argued in this study that content of physical education is not the skill dimension of physical activity, but the perspective dimension. The latter must be thought the final content that is delivered through the teaching of skills. It is also argued that the two dimensions are instructed by different ways. The skill dimension can be best taught by 'directly instructing' skills, and the dimension of perspective can be taught by 'indirectly imparting' skills. Based on this characterization of contents and methods in physical education, implications for physical education teacher education are outlined.

        신시가지 조성이 도시인구에 미친 영향에 관한 연구 : 강릉시 교동Ⅱ지구 택지개발사업을 사례로 The Case of Kyodong Residential Development Project in Gangnung City

        This paper is a case study which analyzed the effects of population by large scale residential development projects. The case is the Kyodong Ⅱ district residential development project in Gangnung city. This paper aimed to provide some fundamental materials for urban planning. The major concerns of this study were to make assure whether the projects have contributed on the population increasement of the city by pulling the people from the hinterland or merely affected on redistribution of population between sub-regions within the city. As the result of analysis the residential development projects have increased 4,391 persons as a whole to the city. These increased population size are 15.8% of planned population of the developed site. Also the projects have affected to the redistribution of population between sub-regions within the city. The multiple regression analysis has conducted in order to prove that the project was a major variable affected to the population increasement of that city and it was proved.

      • 체육교육 학문화 운동과 실증주의적 체육교육학의 성립

        There is a movement in progress in the field of physical education. It is a scholarly movement in which the subdiscipline, conventionally called physical education curriculum and instruction, is being redefined as sport pedagogy. Sport pedagogy is a relatively recent addition to the discipline of Human Movement Studies. Despite its short academic history, sport pedagogy has already achieved a recognition within the Human Movement Studies research community and has produced a coinsiderable body of literature. However, it seems that a dominant conception about the nature of this new subdiscipline has been created. The dominant image of sport pedagogy assumes the positivist view in regard to its object of study and ways of knowledge acquisition. The positivist sport pedagogy incorporates the unidimensional and uniparadigmatic perspective. In the positivist view, sport pedagogy is seen as the scientific study of teaching and learning in physical education, where the empirical-analytic research paradigm governs and only the observable and measurable dimension of teaching is highlighted. The intent of this study was to identify the academic nature of the positivist sport pedagogy, its characteristics, and its problems. The discussion began with a description of the disciplinary movement. It proceeded to the evolution of sport pedagogy as a legitimate field of study in Human Movement Studies. It ended with the identification of positivist sport pedagogy’influence on developing a set of practices in research, teaching and teacher education, called here the technocratic physical education.

      • Cl_2/Ar 프라즈마에 의한 (Ba,Sr)TiO_3 박막의 식각 Damage에 관한 연구

        고유전율의 (Ba,Sr)TiO_3 박막을 Cl_2/Ar의 비율을 변화하면서 ICP(inductively coupled plasma) 이용하여 식각하였다. Cl_2(20)/Ar(80)에서 최대 식각률인 400A˚/min을 얻었고, Pt와 감광막과의 선택비는 0.4와 0.2를 나타내었다. XPS (x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), AFM(atomic force microscopy), XRD (x-ray diffraction)를 이용하여 식각 후 박막 표면을 분석하였다. 높은 비등점 때문에 Ba-Cl과 Ti-Cl 결합의 식각 잔여물이 BST 박막의 표면의그레인 사이에 재증착하여, 표면 rms 거칠기를 감소시키고 결정성을 변화시켰다. High dielectric (Ba,Sr)TiO_3 thin films were etched in an inductively coupled plasma(ICP) as a function of Cl_2/Ar gas mixing ratio. Under Cl_2(20)/Ar(80), the maximum etch rate of the BST films was 400A˚/min and selectivities of BST to Pt and PR were obtained 0.4 and 0.2, respectively. We investigated the etched surface of BST by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). Residues of Ba-Cl and Ti-Cl bonds remained between grains of BST surface for high boiling point, decreased surface rms roughness and changed crystallinity of BST surface.

        거대 다점성 흑자모반에서 발생한 다발성 스피츠 모반 1예

        Speckled lentiginous nevus is circumscribed patch of hyperpigmentation with smaller, darker pigmented macules or papules within the patch. The background shows histologic features of lentigo simplex. The speckled areas show junctional or compound nevus. Association of speckled lentiginous nevus with multiple spitz nevi was rarely reported. We report a case of multiple spitz nevi arising in a giant speckled lentiginous nevus.         에크린 혈관종성 과오종 1예

        Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare condition characterized histologically by increased numbers of eccrine structures and numerous capillary channels. It may be congenital or appear later in childhood. It rarely arises during puberty or adulthood. We report a case of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma on the left shoulder in a 34-year-old man. The patient presented with asymptomatic, dome-shaped, about 3 × 2.5 cm, reddish telangiectatic nodule on the left shoulder. Histological examination showed an increased numbers of eccrine sweat glands and vascular structures. (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(7) : ?951~953)
