      • 消積白朮散의 癌 轉移 抑制와 T 및 B 임파구의 증식에 미치는 영향

Studies on the effects of sojekbaekchoolsan on immune response & metstasis of B16-Fo melanoma cells. Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 117-127, 1999.-This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Sojeokbaekchoolsan on immune response and metastasis of B16-Fo melanoma cells. The result were summarized as follows:1. Metastasisi of B16-Fo melanoma cell in C57BL/6 mice were decreased in the Sojeokbaekchoolsan treated group as compared with the control group. 2 Blastic response of lymphocyte to Con A were increased in the Sojeokbaekchoolsan teated group as compared with the control group. 3. Blastic response of lymphocyte to LPS were increased in the Sojeokbaekchoolsan treated group as compared with the control group. 4 Blastic response of lymphocyte to PWM were increased in the Sojeokbaekchoolasn treated group as compared with the control groupl From the above results, It is suggested that Sojeokbaekchoolsan enhanced as well cellula-mediated and humoral immune response as sojeokbaekchoolsan supressed the metastasis of tumor cells as compared with the control group.

      • 癌에서 新生血管 形成과 血瘀의 相關性에 關한 考察

        A study on relation of angiogenesis and blood stagnation in cancer was done, and the results were as follows. 1.Angiogenesis is a sequence of vascular proliferation and accomplished by regulation of anti-angiogenesis factor and indicating factor. These factors are secreted in the course of blood coagulation, inflammation, and regeneration. 2.Angiogenesis in cancer is a important action in growth of tumor and metastasis because it supply oxygen and nutrition. 3.The complicated processes, for example, platelet coagulation, action of coagulator factor & dissolution factor and interaction of variety factors are related to blood stasis and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis in oriental medicine. 4.Promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis is expected to suppress angiogenesis, and we expect advanced study will be accomplished in future.

      • 抗癌丹을 投與한 各種 癌患者 320例에 對한 考察

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Hangamdan(抗癌丹). The clinical study was carried out 320 cases of patients with cancer treated by Hangamdan(抗癌丹) from May 1st 1998 to September 1st 1999. The results were summarized as follows; 1. The effects of improvement in the symptoms with traditional oriental cancer therapy(47.6%) were higher than combined treatment of western and oriental therapy(37.4%). 2. In the analysis of hematology, maintenance and increasing of WBC(86.2%), Hgb(87.2%), Platelet(97.6%) RBC(81.1%) were Observed. In the analyses of tumor marker, maintenance and decreasing of CEA(76%), CA19-9(88.8%), AFP(69.2%) were observed. 3. In the analysis of safety, maintenance and decreasing of AST(93.1%), AL.T(95%), BUN(92.2%), Creatinine(93.6%) were observed. 4. In the analysis of QOL attached by cancer, combined treatment of western and oriental therapy(maintenance and improvement; 91.8%) was higher than traditional oriental cancer therapy(maintenance and improvement; 79.3%) 5. In the analysis of survival in patients with terminal cancer, above 6 months(46.3%), 12 months( 19.2%). 6. In the analysis of antitumor effects, combined treatment of western and oriental therapy(maintenance 71.6% improvement 12.8%) was higher than traditional oriental therapy (maintenance 66.7% improvement 9.5%). 7. In the analysis of curative evaluation, combined treatment of western and oriental therapy(maintenance 40.4% improvement 41.8%) was higher than traditional oriental therapy (maintenance 23.8% improvement 46.1%). 8. In the analysis of IL-12 and IFN-γ attached by cancer, increasing of IL-12(32.3%), IFN-γ(41.5%) were observed. From the above results, it is suggested that Hangamdan has significant effects of antitumor and immune activity, also could be usefully applied for cancer patients by combination with western therapy or alone.

      • 癌의 發生과 免疫에 대한 考察

        Most cancers are thought to originate from a single cell that has undergone a somatic mutation, but the progeny of this cell must undergo further changes, probably requiring several additional mutations, before they become cancerous. This phenomenon of tumor progression, which usually takes many years, reflects the operation of evolution by mutations and natural selection among somatic cells. The rate of the process is accelerated both by mutagenic agents (tumor initiators) and by certain nonmutagenic agents (tumor promoters). Thus many factors contribute to the development of a given cancer, and since some of these factors are avoidable features of the environment, a large proportion of cancers are in principle preventable.

      • 癌의 溫熱藥物 治療法에 對한 考察

        A literature study on cancer therapy of warm-hot oriental medicine was done, and the results were as follows. 1.In oriental medicine, oncogens are six exopathogens, seven modes of emotion, overwork, pathogenic factors, and especially related with pathologic cold situation. 2.There are many capillaries in tuomr, and because temperature of inner space of tumor is higher than normal organization. Tumor cell has a character which is weak for high temperature. 3.Warm-hot herb drugs have effects of dissipating mass, warming kidney to reinforce yang and dispering, so it has a function of suppressing tumor as well as improving immunity in cancer therapy. 4.In traditional medical books, main prescriptions of cancer therapy are xinzhiyinyang-gongjiwan(新製陰陽功積丸), qianjinxiaoshiwan (千金硝石丸), feiqiwan(肥氣丸), xibenwan(息賁丸), fuliangwan(腹梁丸), beiqiwan(??氣丸), bentunwan(賁豚丸), zengsunwujiwan(增損五積丸), and these are composed of warm-hot herb drugs. 5.In current, the study of warm-hot drugs is progressed in immunological capacity, anti-tumor activity, stimulating bone marrow and regulating hormone secretion. It will be expected that adavanced study of these must be accomplished in cancer patients.

      • 急性 骨髓性 白血病 患者 1例에 對한 臨床報告

        AML is the most common type of leukemia in adults. AML(acute myeloid leukaemia) is characterised by a rapid accumulation of abnormal white blood cells in the blood and bone marrow, resulting in severe anemia, and possibly infection, and hemorrhage during the course of the disease. In general the prognosis of patient with relapsed AML is poor. At this time, however, the only potentially curative therapy for relapsed patients is allogeneic BMT(bone marrow transplantation). This clinical study were carried out 1 case of female patient aged 44 with relapsed AML treated by herb medicine. At the time of admission, she complained of mild fever, nausea, vomitting, abdominal pain, anorexia and no sign of bleeding. For the 10 days of admission, she was treated with Oriental-Western medicine and all the symptoms were disappeared. After that, the syptoms were aggravated because of secondary infection. Anyway, above result showed the possibility of Oriental therapy as Supportive Care in AML.

        pH 변화에 따른 클로라민 생성과 분해 특성

        본 연구의 시료는 현재 서울특별시와 수도권 도시들에서 상수원수로 이용하고 있는 한강수를 대상으로 수행되었다. 배·급수계통의 2차 소독을 위한 클로라민소독의 특성에 관하여 고찰하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 25 ℃, Cl_2 / NH_3-N비 1:1 ~ 14:1에서 pH6, 7, 8의 불연속점은 각각 Cl_2 / NH_3-N비 11:1, 9:1, 10:1이었다. pH6의 경우, Cl_2 / NH_3-N비가 9:1일 때 총 잔류염소량이 최대인 반면, pH7, 8의 경우 Cl_2 / NH_3-N비가 각각 6:1, 5:1일 때 최대가 되었다. 2) pH가 6, 7, 8로 증가함에 따라 모노클로라민이 최대로 생성되는 Cl_2 / NH_3-N비는 7:1에서 5:1로 이동하였으며, pH6 ~ 8 범위에서 pH가 증가함에 따라 모노클로라민의 생성량이 많았다. 3) 클로라민의 분해는 Cl_2 / NH_3-N비가 증가하고 pH가 낮을수록 증가하였다. 클로라민의 잔류성은 유리염소보다 월등히 좋았다. pH6에서 모노클로라민과 디클로라민이 생성된 이후, 접촉시간이 경과함에 따라 디클로라민의 분포비가 증가하였다. This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of chloramination as a secondary disinfection in a drinking water distribution system. At the range from pH 6 to pH 8, monochloramine was predominant with a trace of dichloramine, and the free chlorine was detected after breakpoint. At 25℃, the breakpoints of pH 6, 7 and 8 appeared when the weight ratios of chlorine to ammonia nitrogen were 11:1, 9:1 and 10:1 respectively, and the peak points on the breakpoint curves at pH 6, 7 and 8 were in the Cl_2 / NH_3-N ratio of 9:1, 6:1 and 5:1 respectively. As pH increased from 6 to 8, maximum point of monochloramine on the breakpoint curve was moved from 7:1 to 5:1 in the weight ratio of chlorine to ammonia nitrogen. The maximum concentration of monochloramine was formed at the pH values of 7~8 and in the Cl_2 / NH_3-N ratio below 5:1. As the Cl_2 / NH_3-N ratio increased and the pH lowered, chloramines decay proceeded at an increased rate, and residual chloramines lasted longer than the residual free chlorine. The monochloramine and the dichloramine were formed at pH 6, and then the dichloramine continued increasing with contact lime.

      • 抗癌免疫 1號方을 投與한 胃癌患者 40例에 對한 臨床考察

        Clinical studies were carried out 40 cases of patients with stomach cancer treated by "Hangammyunyouk Ⅰ(抗癌免疫1號方)". from September 1th 1997 to May 1th 1998. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Distribution of those attached by stomach cancer, by sex, showed that Male is more then Female. by age, showed that the number of fifies is majority. 2. Dstribution of diagnostic stage. on descending order, stage Ⅲ, stage Ⅳ. 3. Distribution of treatment attached by stomach cancer, in descending order: Chemotherapy and operation. chemotherapy. Radiation therapy and operation. 4. After taken herb medicine, the effects according to the symptoms wer as follows; Nausea and Vomiting. Constipation, General body weakness, Aberage efficacy of symptoms were 68.1%. 5. Analysis of hematology attached by stomach cancer, increasing of WBC(61.5%), Hgb(54.5%), platelt(62.5%) were observed.

      • 癌의 免疫治療에 對한 考察

        A literature study on oncological immune therapy was done, and the results were as follows. 1.Oncological immune therapy is classified as specific·non specific therapy or active·inactive therapy, and in tumor immune response, cellular immunity operates mainly, so activity of T lymphocytes and macrophages are closely related with growth, progress, metastasis and prospect of tumor. Recently, Immune therapies of gene which use cytokines and HLA-B7 are carrying out. 2.In oriental medicine, development of disease is closely related to up and down of healthy qi, so healthy qi operates as a immune factor and resistance factor. 3.On the base of theory "Increasing healthy qi reduces mass(養正則積自除)", strengthening body resistance is emphasized in cancer therapy. Also strengthening body resistance activates cellular immune response and promote killing tumor facility of T-cell. 4.In clinical view, using immune therapy after operation, radiation, and chemotheraphy is more effective than immune therapy itself, so it is expected that east-west cooperation will be effective in cancer therapy. 5.The study of oncological immunity is progressed on emphasizing T-cell and it is related to oriental medical theory "strengthening healthy qi to eliminate pathogen(孵正祛邪)" and advanced study is expected in future.

      • 靑黃散의 白血病에 對한 抗腫瘍效能 硏究

        In the literatual study of anti-tumor effects of chunghwangsan for leukemia, the results were as follows. 1. Chunghwangsan is composed of Indigo naturalis and Realgar. The composing rate is 9 : 1 and it is made into capsule or piece. The basic administration is 0.3g per day and could increase the quantity each day. 2. The effects of Chunghwangsan is expelling toxin and colling, colling blood to detumescence, drying wetness and anticancer are. So it can be used to treat AML, CML and lymphoma. 3. The anticancer component of Indigo naturalis is indirubin which has the effects of suppression the transplanted tumor, activating the phagocyte of macrophage, promoting the maturation of myeloblast to improve cure rate of CML. The anticancer component of Realgar is As_2O_3 which has the direct celluar toxicity for leukemia cell. 4. In viewpoints of oriental medicine, leukemia is malgnant myeloid neoplasia in which pathogen invade to shaoyin(少陰). So Chunghwangsan which is expelling toxin and colling, colling blood to detumescence, drying wetness and anticancer is effective to leukemia. 5. In clinical reports, Chunghwang is often used in CML, and also used in AML, lymphoma and so on. 6. Chunghwangsan is cool-natured, so we must carefully pay attention to pregnant women and hematsdthenic patients. The main side effects are nausea, bone marrow pain, diarrhea, polydefecation, hematokezia and purpora. We sometimes take invigorating stomach medicine to prevent the side effects. 7. If we continuously develop Chunghwangsan and therapy for leukemia with syndrome differentiation, we can improve the response and cure rate for leukimia in the future.
