        ON THE EXISTENCE OF MDS SELF-DUAL CODES OVER FINITE CHAIN RINGS

        We studied the MDS self-dual codes over finite chain rings. We stated the projection and lifting of codes over the finite chain rings with respect to the MDS self-dual codes, and then we applied the results to the MDS self-dual codes over Galois rings.

        Faultless Protection Methods in Self-Healing Ethernet Ring Networks

        Self-healing Ethernet rings show promise for realizing the SONET/SDH-grade resilience in Carrier Ethernet infrastructures. However, when a ring is faulty, high-priority protection messages are processed in less time than low-priority data frames are processed. In this situation, any delayed data frames either being queued or traveling through long ring spans will cause the ring nodes to generate incorrect forwarding information. As a result, the data frames spread in the wrong direction, causing the ring to become unstable. To solve this problem, we propose four schemes, that is, dual flush, flush delay timer setting, purge triggering, and priority setting, and evaluate their protection performance under various traffic conditions on a ring based on the Ethernet ring protection (ERP) method. In addition, we develop an absorbing Markov chain model of the ERP protocol to observe how traffic congestion can impact the protection performance of the proposed priority setting scheme. Based on our observations, we propose a more reliable priority setting scheme, which guarantees faultless protection, even in a congested ring.

        STRUCTURE OF UNIT-IFP RINGS

        In this article we first investigate a sort of unit-IFP ring by which Antoine provides very useful information to ring theory in relation with the structure of coefficients of zero-dividing polynomials. Here we are concerned with the whole shape of units and nilpotent elements in such rings. Next we study the properties of unit-IFP rings through group actions of units on nonzero nilpotent elements. We prove that if R is a unit-IFP ring such that there are finite number of orbits under the left (resp., right) action of units on nonzero nilpotent elements, then R satisfies the descending chain condition for nil left (resp., right) ideals of R and the upper nilradical of R is nilpotent.

        On LCD codes over finite chain rings

        Linear complementary dual (LCD) codes are linear codes that intersect with their dual trivially. LCD cyclic codes have been known as reversible cyclic codes that had applications in data storage. Due to a newly discovered application in cryptography, interest in LCD codes has increased again. Although LCD codes over finite fields have been extensively studied so far, little work has been done on LCD codes over chain rings. In this paper, we are interested in structure of LCD codes over chain rings. We show that LCD codes over chain rings are free codes. We provide some necessary and sufficient conditions for an LCD code $C$ over finite chain rings in terms of projections of linear codes. We also showed the existence of asymptotically good LCD codes over finite chain rings.

        Polydiacetone Acrylamide as Precursors to Polymer Side-Chain Conjugates

        Polydiacetone acrylamide (PDAAM), a reactive polymer containing pendant ketone groups was synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Kinetic studies indicated a well-controlled behavior of this RAFT polymerization. The characteristics of this RAFT polymerization was also confirmed by a wellcontrolled chain-extending RAFT polymerization using the above-synthesized PDAAM as a macromolecular chain transfer agent. Acid-catalyzed ketalization of PDAAM with trimethylol propane (TMP) was carried out to obtain the polymer containing pendant cyclic ketal groups and hydroxyl groups, PDAAM-TMP. PCL was grafted from PDAAM-TMP by ring-opening polymerization (ROP) in the presence of tin 2-ethylhexanoate as a catalyst to obtain graft copolymer. Basecatalyzed aldol condensation of PDAAM with benzaldehyde was also used to obtain poly[N-(1,1-dimethyl-3-oxo-5-phenyl-pent-4-enyl)-acrylamide] (PDMOPPEAM) having cinnamoyl groups, and the photoreactivity of polymer with cinnamoyl group was studied by UV-visible and IR absorption spectroscopy. Both of these two polymers prepared from PDAAM were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. PDAAM can be a multifunctional platform that can undergo further polymerization by ketalization and aldol condensation.

        HTPE(hyroxy terminated polyether)의 합성을 위해 Ethylene Oxide(EO)와 Tetrahydrofuran (THF)을 1,4-Butane-diol의 존재 하에서 촉매로서 BF3OEt2를 사용하여 0~15℃의 온도에서 양이온 개환공중합을 통해 합성하였다. 또한 모노머와 개시제의 비율조절과 모노머의 농도조절을 통하여 HTPE의 분자량의 변화를 확인하였다.
