본고에서는 잘 알려지지 않은 19세기 시집 『창북고(滄北稿)』를 소개하면서, 이 시집의 저자가 박긍순이며 세부적인 인적 정보, 시의 특징과 그 의의를 논의하였다. 박긍순은 충청도 정산에 거주하였던 지방 출신 문인으로, 음직을 통해 서울에서 관료 생활을 하였다. 특히 그는 집안끼리 아는 사이였기 때문에 안동 김문과 관련을 맺고 있었다. 관련 자료에 따르면 관리가 된 이후의 출세는 산릉 작업에 참여를 했고 처가가 왕실과 관련이 있었기 때문인데, 여기에 더하여 그의 관료생활의 중심에는 안동 김문 일가인 김보근(金輔根)이 자리하고 있다. 박긍순의 시적 특징은 시의 기교적인 측면을 중시했다는 점과 평담하고 온화한 시적 어조를 유지했다는 점으로 요약할 수 있다. 그는 시집의 서문에서 자신이 어렸을 때부터 시에 뜻을 두었다고 했는데, 이 점은 관료 문인의 사회적 활동을 넘어 시에 대해 특별한 관심을 가졌다는 의미로 이해할 수 있다. 그런데 그는 빈궁한 상황이나 불만족스러운 마음을 시에 표출하는 데에는 다소간의 거부감이 있었던 것 같다. 때문에 “빈궁한 뒤에 시를 잘 쓰게 된다”는 전통적인 시관을 정확하게 시적 기교의 문제로만 이해했다. 그런 맥락에서 박긍순은 전고와 표현, 시상 전개라는 기술적 측면을 중시하였지만, 다른 한편으로 다양한 감정이 아니라 현실 만족과 낙관론이 흐르는 평화로운 시적 세계라는 단조로운 톤을 견지한 것도 사실이다. 그러나 시인의 의의는 당대의 한시사적 위상으로만 규정될 수는 없다. 19세기에 이전 시대의 문학을 넘어서는 새로운 전조와 변화가 의미 있는 만큼이나 그 당시 대세적인 경향도 그 시기 문학의 특성으로 간주해야 한다. 19세기에는 전시대 문학 전통에 대한 고수, 문학 전성기를 재현하려는 보수적 성향도 엄존해 있었다. 『창북고』의 시는 바로 그 보수적 지향을 보여주는 사례라고 할 수 있다. In this article, I introduced the less well - known 19th century collection of poems, changbukgo, and discovered the identity of the author. And I discussed the characteristics and the significance of these poems. Park, a native of the province of Chungcheong province, has lived as a bureaucrat in Seoul by recommendation. Especially, he was involved with Andong Kim Clans because the families were closely connected. According to the related documents, it is said that the success after the administration was involved in the work for royal tomb, and that his wife was related to the royal family. In addition, his bureaucratic life includes Kim Bogeun, the member of Andong Kim Clans. The poetic characteristic of Park keungsun can be summarized as the emphasis on the technical side of the poem and the maintenance of the peaceful and gentle poetic tone. In the preface to his poetry, he said that he had wanted to write a beautiful poem since he was a child. This point can be understood as meaning that he has a special interest in poetry beyond the social activities of bureaucratic literati. However, he seemed to have a somewhat disfavored feeling in expressing poverty or unsatisfied mind to poetry. Therefore, he understood the traditional poetry "to write poetry well after poverty" as precisely the problem of poetic technique. In that context, Park emphasized the importance of poetry, expression, and an authentic precedent, but on the other hand, he maintained a monotonous tone of peaceful poetic world in which real satisfaction and optimism flows, not various emotions. However, the significance of the poet can not be confined to the contemporary personal history. In the nineteenth century, it was not only the prominence of new prehistory and change that transcended the literature of earlier times. On the other hand, there was a conservative tendency to reproduce the history of literary tradition and the prime period of literature. The poetry of changbukgo is an example of the conservative orientation.
