Electro-active paper has been revealed to be a smart material with excellent properties which exhibit piezoelectric effect as actuation mechanism and is biodegradable and biocompatible. The application of electro-active paper as an actuator has been studied. Electro-active paper is very flexible as compared to other piezoelectric materials and it can be used with any piezo bender which makes it suitable for harvesting energy using ambient vibration. In the present research an attempt is made to evaluate the energy harvesting capabilities of EAPap using direct piezoelectric effect under a state of vibration. The EAPap cantilever beam specimens are fabricated with a series of processes and electrodes are deposited with electrode deposition technique. The EAPap cantilever beam structure is excited under input vibration. From the experimental results it is observed that a significantly open AC output voltage is achievable.
