        Additive/subtractive hybrid manufacturing of 316L stainless steel powder: Densification, microhardness and residual stress

        316L stainless steel specimens were manufactured by additive/subtractive hybrid manufacturing (ASHM). The densification level, microstructure, microhardness and residual stress characterization in the different zones of the part were investigated. The density was determined by the Archimedes method, and the density measurement was divided into three regions, namely, the bottom, middle and top zones. The results show that the middle zone has a much smoother melting surface and that a relative density of nearly 100 % was achieved for the part in this study. The hardness profiles at room temperature, along the width and height directions of the cross-section of the top and bottom zones, were also studied. The residual stress was evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) for the 316L SS specimen fabricated by the ASHM process, and it was compared with a specimen manufactured by the additive laser directed energy deposition (DED) process. The results show that the top and bottom zones exhibit tensile stress, and compressive stress occurs in the middle area. Moreover, the residual stress of ASHM shows a slightly smaller trend than that of the simplex DED due to the stress relaxation of the subsequent subtractive milling. These results may offer guidance for ASHM-fabricated 316L parts.

        Self-supported ZIF-coated Co2P/V3P bifunctional electrocatalyst for high-efficiency water splitting

        Exploring high-efficiency dual-functional electrocatalysts to drive electrochemical water splitting is ofgreat importance for advancement of renewable hydrogen energy. Herein, a hierarchical core–shell structureelectrocatalyst ZIF-Co2P/V3P is in situ grown on Ni foam (abbreviated as ZIF-Co2P/V3P@NF) by a stepwisemethod. Firstly, Co, V layered double hydroxides (CoV-LDHs) is grown directly on Ni foam (NF)substrate by solvothermal method. Secondly, CoV-LDHs@NF is transferred into 2-MeIm solution andits surface is coated with a layer of imidazolate zeolite skeleton (ZIF). Finally, ZIF-Co2P/V3P@NF catalystis obtained by low-temperature phosphorization method. The performance of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) can be adjusted by tuning molar ratio of Co/V, and theoptimized ZIF-Co2P/V3P@NF-2 manifests superior performance due to its core–shell structure coveredby ZIF skeleton, rich heterogeneous interfaces, as well as the positive synergistic interaction betweenthe Co2P and V3P. The overpotentials are only 57 mV@10 mA cm2 for HER and 261 mV@10 mA cm2for OER. Remarkably, the alkaline electrolyzer assembled with ZIF-Co2P/V3P@NF-2 catalyst acquires asmall operating voltage of 1.54 V to drive the current density of 10 mA cm2 and displays excellentlong-term durability. This work provides a novel opinion for design and preparation of non-noble metalelectrocatalysts.

        Establishment and application of a solid-phase blocking ELISA method for detection of antibodies against classical swine fever virus

        Background: Classical swine fever (CSF) is a severe infectious disease of pigs that causes significant economic losses to the swine industry. Objectives: This study developed a solid-phase blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (spbELISA) method for the specific detection of antibodies against the CSF virus (CSFV) in porcine serum samples. Methods: A spbELISA method was developed based on the recombinant E2 expressed in Escherichia coli. The specificity of this established spbELISA method was evaluated using reference serum samples positive for antibodies against other common infectious diseases. The stability and sensitivity were evaluated using an accelerated thermostability test. Results: The spbELISA successfully detected the antibody levels in swine vaccinated with the C-strain of CSFV. In addition, the detection ability of spbELISA for CSFV antibodies was compared with that of other commercial ELISA kits and validated using an indirect immunofluorescence assay. The results suggested that the spbELISA provides an alternative, stable, and rapid serological detection method suitable for the large-scale screening of CSFV serum antibodies. Conclusions: The spbELISA has practical applications in assessing the vaccination status of large pig herds.

      • Forage Production and Water Use Efficiency of Three Lucerne Varieties at Different Soil Water Availabilities

        Forage production and water use efficiency (WUE) of Lucerne were investigated in three varieties at different water availabilities. Forage production decreased with the severity of soil water availability. At 50% field water capacity (FWC), forage production dropped but in two varieties, Algonquin and Longdong, was still high and from 75%FWC to 50%FWC, forage production in Longdong decreased at the least rate. The greatest leaf WUE was observed in Longdong at all soil water availabilities. From 75%FWC to 50%FWC, it increased in Longdong and Xinjiangdaye, but decreased in Algonquin. With the severity of water deficit, δ¹³C value increased in all three varieties. At the same water availability, the greatest value was observed in Longdong. It suggested that moderate water stress can improve WUE in Lucerne. Longdong is to some extent more efficient in water use and may be more drought-tolerant with more steady production at moderate water deficit.

        The Unidirectional Wettability Property of a New Warp-knitted Double-face Fabric

        In order to knit a warp-knitted fabric with unidirectional wettability property, polyester multifilament and cottonyarn were used as raw materials, and samples were produced on an RD6 EL warp-knitting machine. The unidirectionalwettability property of the fabric was tested by measuring the length of artificial sweat absorbed in the fabric. And theunidirectional wettability of the fabric primarily depends on the structure and twist of the yarn, especially the twist. Themoisture absorption capacity of the yarn decreases with the yarn twist increasing. When the twist reaches a certain value, itwill prevent the entry of moisture. This provides us with an inspiration for controlling the moisture absorption of fabric by thetwist of the yarn when knitting the unidirectional wettability fabric.

        The relationship between myofiber characteristics and meat quality of Chinese Qinchuan and Luxi cattle

        Objective: The objectives of this study were to explore the expression patterns of myosin heavy chain (MyHC) genes of different skeletal muscles from Chinese cattle, and to investigate the relationship between myofiber characteristics and meat quality of M. longissimus lumborum (LL), M. psoas major (PM), and M. semimembranosus (SM) from Chinese Luxi and Qinchuan cattle. Methods: Three major muscles including LL, PM, and SM from Chinese Luxi cattle and Chinese Qinchuan cattle were used in this study. The myofiber characteristics were measured by histochemical analysis. The MyHC isoforms expression was evaluated by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Quality traits including pH value, meat color, cooking loss, Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) and sarcomere length were determined at day 5 postmortem. Results: PM muscle had higher pH value, a* value, sarcomere length and lower WBSF value compared to LL and SM muscles (p<0.05). Numbers of type I myofiber and the relative expression of MyHC I mRNA in PM muscle were higher than those of LL and SM muscles (p<0.05). Myofiber diameter of PM muscle was lower than that of LL and SM muscles, regardless of myofiber types (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the stepwise linear regression analyses, tenderness was influenced by myofiber characteristics in all three examined muscles. Tenderness of beef muscles from Qinchuan and Luxi cattle could be improved by increasing numbers of type I myofiber.       • A Novel Approach for the Unit Commitment with Vehicle-to-grid

        The electrical vehicles (EV) with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capability can be used as loads, energy sources and energy storage in MicroGrid integrated with renewable energy sources. The output power of generators will be reallocated in the considering of V2G. An intelligent unit commitment (UC) with V2G for cost optimization is presented in this paper. A new constraint of UC with V2G is considered to satisfy daily use of EVs. A hybrid optimiza-tion algorithm combined Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (BPSO) with Lagrange Mul-tipliers Method (LMM) is proposed. The difference between results of UC with V2G and UC without V2G is presented.

        Influence of the evolution of heat-resistant phases on elevated-temperature strengthening mechanism and deformation behavior in Al–Si multicomponent alloys

        Evolution of the heat-resistant phases and deformation behavior of α-Al matrix of four alloys have been characterized by SEM and EBSD. The strengthening mechanisms influenced by morphology and distribution of the heat-resistant phases were described. And the strain contouring of the α-Al matrix after deformation was rendered. The heat-resistant phases with block-like as reticular or semi-reticular network distribution exist in grain boundary can effectively provide elevated-temperature strength for alloys, while the strain contouring of α-Al matrix is mainly concentrated in the area with fewer intermetallic phases. It is shown that intermetallic phase evolution corresponds to extrusion treatment and the formation of eutectic Si and primary Si, highly interconnected networks of intermetallic phases exist in the alloy in which the primary Si and the eutectic Si are simultaneously present or disappeared. And only the disappearance of the primary Si and the extrusion treatment will destroy the network structure of the intermetallic phases. A reticular or semi-reticular microstructure is more capable of matching strength and plasticity and facilitating uniform deformation of the α-Al matrix. And the destruction of this microstructure is allowed to accommodate more plastic strain before failure.
