The treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been revolutionized for the last 10 years by the increasing use of immunomodulators and biologics. With immunosuppression of this kind, opportunistic infection is an important safety concern for patients with IBD. In particular, viral hepatitis is determined by the interaction between the virus and the host’s immunity, and the risk of reactivation increases if immunity is compromised by immunosuppression therapy. Parts of Asia, including Korea, still show intermediate endemicity for the hepatitis A virus and hepatitis B virus compared with the United States and Western Europe. Thus, members of IBD research group of the Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases have produced a guideline on the prevention and management of viral hepatitis in IBD. <P><p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Among the meteorological disasters, heavy rainfalls cause the second largest damage in Korea, following typhoons. To manage the potential disasters due to heavy rainfalls, understanding the observational characteristics of precipitation is of utmost importance. In this study, we investigate the spatial and temporal characteristics of warm-season precipitation in Korea, according to the precipitation types, by conducting the geostatistical analyses such as an autocorrelogram, Moran's <span class='inline-formula'><i>I</i></span> and general <span class='inline-formula'><i>G</i></span> on the composite (radar<span class='thinspace'></span><span class='inline-formula'>+</span><span class='thinspace'></span>station) precipitation data. The <span class='inline-formula'><i>e</i></span>-folding distance of precipitation ranges from 15 to 35<span class='thinspace'></span>km, depending on the spatial distribution, rather than intensity, of precipitation, whereas the <span class='inline-formula'><i>e</i></span>-folding time ranges from 1 to 2<span class='thinspace'></span>h. The directional analyses revealed that the warm-season precipitation systems in Korea, especially those with a high precipitation amount, have high spatial autocorrelations in the southwest-northeast and west-east directions, in association with the frontal rainfalls, convection bands, etc. Furthermore, the cluster versus dispersion patterns and the hot versus cold spots are analyzed through Moran's <span class='inline-formula'><i>I</i></span> and general <span class='inline-formula'><i>G</i></span>, respectively. Water vapor, represented by the brightness temperature, from three Himawari-8 water vapor bands also shows similar characteristics with precipitation but with strong spatial correlation over a much longer distance (<span class='inline-formula'>∼</span><span class='thinspace'></span>100<span class='thinspace'></span>km), possibly due to the continuity of water vapor. We found that, under the <span class='inline-formula'><i>e</i></span>-folding-based standard, the current observation network of Korea is sufficient to capture the characteristics of most precipitation systems; however, under a strict standard (e.g., autocorrelation of 0.6), a higher-resolution observation network is essentially required - especially in local areas with frequent heavy rainfalls - depending on the directional features of precipitation systems. Establishing such an observation network based on the characteristics of precipitation enables us to improve monitoring, tracking, and prediction skills of high-impact weather phenomena as well as to enhance the utilization of numerical weather prediction.</p> </P>

<P><B>Summary</B></P><P><I>Acinetobacter oleivorans </I>DR1 can utilize C<SUB>12</SUB>–C<SUB>30</SUB> alkanes as a sole carbon source but not short‐chain alkanes (C<SUB>6</SUB>, C<SUB>10</SUB>). Two copies of each <I>alkB</I>‐, <I>almA</I>‐ and <I>ladA</I>‐type alkane hydroxylase (AH) are present in the genome of DR1 cells. Expression and mutational analyses of AHs showed that <I>alkB1</I> and <I>alkB2</I> are the major AH‐encoding genes under C<SUB>12</SUB>–C<SUB>30</SUB>, and the roles of other <I>almA</I>‐ and <I>ladA</I> genes are negligible. Our data suggested that AlkB1 is responsible for long‐chain alkane utilization (C<SUB>24</SUB>–C<SUB>26</SUB>), and AlkB2 is important for medium‐chain alkane (C<SUB>12</SUB>–C<SUB>16</SUB>) metabolism. Phylogenetic analyses revealed large incongruities between phylogenies of 16S rRNA and each AH gene, which implies that <I>A. oleivorans </I>DR1 has acquired multiple alkane hydroxylases through horizontal gene transfer. Transcriptomic and qRT‐PCR analyses suggested that genes participating in the synthesis of siderophore, trehalose and poly 3‐hydroxybutyrate (PHB) were expressed at much higher levels when cells used C<SUB>30</SUB> than when used succinate as a carbon source. The following biochemical assays supported our gene expression analyses: (i) quantification of siderophore, (ii) measurement of trehalose and (iii) observation of PHB storage. Interestingly, highly induced both <I>ackA</I> gene encoding an acetate kinase A and <I>pta</I> gene encoding a phosphotransacetylase suggested unusual ATP synthesis during C<SUB>30</SUB> alkane degradation, which was demonstrated by ATP measurement using the <I>ΔackA</I> mutant. Impaired growth of the <I>ΔaceA</I> mutant indicated that the glyoxylate shunt pathway is important when C<SUB>30</SUB> alkane is utilized. Our data provide insight into long‐chain alkane degradation in soil microorganisms.</P>
Diagonally-reinforced Lane Detection Scheme for High-performance Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

In this paper, several optimizations are proposed to enhance the quality of lane detection algorithms in automotive applications. Considering the diagonal directions of lanes, the proposed limited Hough transform newly introduces image-splitting and angle-limiting schemes that relax the number of possible angles at the line voting process. In addition, unnecessary edges along the horizontal and vertical directions are pre-defined and removed during the edge detection procedures, increasing the detecting accuracy remarkably. Simulation results shows that the proposed lane recognition algorithm achieves an accuracy of more than 90% and a computing speed of 92 frame/sec, which are superior to the results from the previous algorithms.

This study analyzed the characteristics affecting the consumer’s intention to use the chatbot service and customer satisfaction, which is a representative artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the banking industry. The theoretical model was based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). The anthropomorphism and personalization of chatbots were proposed as important characteristics that lead to the intention to use the chatbot service. A research model was constructed and demonstrated whether the characteristics of these chatbots had a significant effect on product knowledge, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and customer satisfaction. The empirical study was conducted on customers with experience in using chatbots. The data were analyzed using Smart PLS 3.0 structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). As a result of the analysis, the anthropomorphism and personalization characteristics of the chatbot had a significant direct or indirect influence on the consumer’s intention to use and customer satisfaction. This study is expected to provide meaningful insights in discovering innovative services that provide new customer value experiences by artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot services, which are evaluated as innovative technologies in the next stage of online banking and mobile banking.
WASP: Selective Data Prefetching with Monitoring Runtime Warp Progress on GPUs

<P>This paper proposes a new data prefetching technique for Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) called Warp Aware Selective Prefetching (WASP). The main idea of WASP is to dynamically select warps whose progress is slower than that of the current warp as prefetching target warps. Under the in-order instruction execution model of GPUs, these prefetching target warps will certainly execute the same load as the current warp. Exploiting that, WASP prefetches the data for prefetching target warps, which allows the prefetched data to be accurately accessed. To simply verify the progress of the warps, WASP monitors the counts of the dynamic load executions for all warps. When a warp executes a load, WASP searches the warps with lower load execution counts than the current warp and generates the prefetch requests for them. In our evaluation, WASP achieves a 16.8 percent speedup compared to the baseline GPU.</P>
