Based on rainfall over upper basin, dam operation would be used. There are some questions in convertion point rainfall measured in upper basin to areal rainfall. Since the rainfall varies with basin elevation, orientation, density of rain gauges and topological distribution of mountains. Among these elements, basin elevation would influence the distribution of rainfall over a basin. Therefore, this paper aims at rainfall distribution according to basin elevation in the Nam River dam basin where there have complex terrain. Authors can be formulated the relation between basin elevation and rainfall depth in the Nam River dam basin.

background: Guideline for practice is useful because it can be the standard for assessment and way to improve quality. We need to take account of expert opinion and consensus as well as scientific evidences to develope practice guideline because it should be practical. Delphi method has been developed to gather opinions from experts fairly. This study was designed to develop practice guideline and apply it to practices as a method to improve quality in primary medical care. Methods: Hypertension(in adults over 18 years old) was selected as a target problem. Self questionnaires about management of hypertensive patients were developed by a researcher with advice of 11 experts. The questionnaires were designed to response as a 5 pont scale. The results of previous questionary were given to respondents in second and third questionnaires. If needed, the questionnaires were changed on the previous responses. The items with medium greater than or equal to 4 point in 1st and 2nd responses were accepted in guideline. The items with medium lesser than or equal to 3 point were questioned again about whether they can be excluded or not. The criteria for assessment was made with reference to guideline and applied to 85 hypertensive patients of 9 family practitioners. At 3 months after practice guideline had been given to family practitioners, performance of same practitioners was assessed with 36 new hypertensive patients. Results: 23 professors in family medicine, 22 family practitioners and 6 cardiologists. responded among 50, 50, 15 respectively. Practice guideline with 33 items was developed as a result of 3 times questionaires. The difference of responses between professors in family medicine, family practitioners and cardiologists was not significant. Performance of practice was improved in diagnosis, history taking about 6 fields, Jaboratory examination and decision making about time fo pharmaceutical prescription. It was not improved in physical examination, life style modification, method of pharmaceutical prescription, choice of initial antihypertensives and history taking about duration of disease and diet habit. It was decreased in history taking about psychosocial factors. The assessment scores were low in history taking, physical examination and life style modification before and after use of practice guideline. Conclusion: Practice guideline for hypertension could be developed by Delphi method. Performance of practice improved partially after use of guideline.

Few topics in operative and perioperative patient management generate more controversy than that of appropriate fluid and electrolyte therapy. especially, controversy has swirled around colloid vs crystalloid therapy and the composition of administered fluids, agreement among clinicians as to what fluid therapy is appropriate, and in what amount, is rare. This controversy likely will be enhanced by Arieff' s provocative article. He described 11 adults and 2 pediatric patients. All developed fatal postoperative pulmonary edema, seemingly caused solely by excessive postoperative fluid administration. From January 1999 to December 1999, we investigated 24 patients, which were operated by orthognathic surgery, about the intraoperative fluid therapy and the associated effect in orthognathic surgery, which is regarded as one of the major surgery of oral and maxillofacial surgery. First, They were devided into two groups, that is one-jaw surgery and two-jaw surgery, and each groups were devided by intraoperative fluid volume of 8ml/kg/hr. Subjective assesment was collected through use of a series of 3 questionnaries. In each questionnaire, a 5-point Liekert scale was used far assessment of following parameters of recovery from anesthesia: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea/vomiting, thirst. The patient completed questionnaire 1 at 4 hour after surgery, questionnaire 2 was completed at 24 hours after surgery, and questionnaire 3 was completed at 48 hours after surgery. This study demonstrated that appropriated perioperative rehydration decreases postoperative adverse outcomes and improved the patient's perception of the postoperative period.

The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of AB slide™ on abdominal muscles with Crunch and Sit-up. Myoelectrical activities of Rectus abdominis muscles produced by AB slide™, Crunch and Sit-up were recorded. Healthy male aged from 17 to 36 years(23.0±5.9 yrs) were included fo the test. Surface electrodes were attached to upper and lower part of Rectus abdominis of the study subjects. Averaged integrated electromyography(AIEMG) and Normalized integrated electromyography(NIEMG) were recorded. The results are summarized as follows; First, the AIEMG of Sit-up were highest among them with insignificant difference statistically. Second, the NIEMG of upper part of Rectus abdominis were higher than the one of lower part with significant difference statistically(p<0.05). This phenomenon was same irrespective of the type of exercises. AB slide™ was not more effective than Sit-up and Crunch for strengthening of Rectus abdominis muscle. The upper part of Rectus abdominis was more activated than the lower part by all three exercises.

The esterase gene Est8 from the thermophilic bacterium Bacillus sp. K91 was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The monomeric enzyme exhibited a theoretical molecular mass of 24.5 kDa and an optimal activity around 50°C at pH 9.0. A model of Est8 was constructed using a hypothetical YxiM precursor structure (2O14_A) from Bacillus subtilis as template. The structure showed an α/β-hydrolase fold and indicated the presence of a typical catalytic triad consisting of Ser-11, Asp-182, and His-185, which were investigated by site directed replacements coupled with kinetic characterization. Asp-182 and His-185 residues were more critical than the Ser-11 residue in the catalytic activity of Est8. A comparison of the amino acid sequence showed that Est8 could be grouped into the GDSL family and further classified as an SGNH hydrolase. Est8 is a new member of the SGNH hydrolase subfamily and may employ a different catalytic mechanism.

<P>A series of 2,6- and 2,7-bis(styryl)anthracene derivatives with the donors at the styryl group and acceptors at the 9,10-positions have been synthesized, and their two-photon cross sections (Φδ<SUB>max</SUB>) were determined. These compounds exhibit a peak two-photon absorptivity (δ<SUB>max</SUB>) in the range of 700–2500 GM at 780–1030 nm. Values of λ<SUB>max</SUB> and Stokes shifts increase as the acceptor is changed to a stronger one. There is also a parallel increase in <TEX>${\lambda {{(2)\hfill \atop {\rm max}\hfill}}}$</TEX> and δ<SUB>max</SUB> with the same variation of the chromophore structure. Both <TEX>${\lambda {{(2)\hfill \atop {\rm max}\hfill}}}$</TEX> and Φδ<SUB>max</SUB> have been optimized by introducing donor-substituted styryl groups at the 2,6-positions and p-cyanophenyl groups at the 9,10-positions, respectively. Research on Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation Algorithm for Single-phase Voltage Source Rectifier

Single phase voltage source converter (VSC) is an important power electronic converter (PEC), including single-phase voltage source inverter (VSI), single-phase voltage source rectifier (VSR), single-phase active power filter (APF) and single-phase grid-connection inverter (GCI). As the fundamental part of large scale PECs, single-phase VSC has a wide range of applications. In the paper, as first, on the basis of the concept of the discontinuous pulse-width modulation (DPWM) for three-phase VSC, a new DPWM of single-phase VSR is presented by means of zero-sequence component injection. Then, the transformation from stationary frame (abc) to rotating frame (dq) is designed after reconstructing the other orthogonal current by means of one order all-pass filter. Finally, the presented DPWM based single-phase VSR is established analyzed and simulated by means of MATLAB/SIMULINK. In addition, the DPWMs presented by D. Grahame Holmes and Thomas Lipo are discussed and simulated in brief. Obviously, the presented DPWM can also be used for single-phase VSI, GCI and APF. The simulation results show the validation of the above modulation algorithm, and the DPWM based single-phase VSR has reduced power loss and increased efficiency.
