Objectives: Albuminuria has emerged as a biomarker for several medical conditions, and vitamin D has received attention due to its associations with various disorders. We evaluated the association between low serum vitamin D levels and prevalent albuminuria by sex in the Korean general population. Methods: We analyzed 9823 participants (4401 males, 5422 females) from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011-2012 (KNHANES V-2), and categorized them as having a normal range of vitamin D levels, vitamin D insufficiency, or vitamin D deficiency. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to compare the risk of albuminuria across these groups. Stratified analyses were conducted by smoking status, obesity, and renal function. Results: Albuminuria was found in 325 of the 4401 male participants (7.4%) and in 455 of the 5422 female participants (8.4%). Among the males, vitamin D deficiency was associated with an odds ratio (OR) for albuminuria of 1.78 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.07 to 2.97, p<0.05). However, such an association was not found in females. The association was stronger in male current smokers (OR, 3.54; 95% CI, 1.47 to 8.50; p=0.005). Conclusions: The findings of this study suggest that sex differences exist in the association between serum vitamin D deficiency and albuminuria. Additionally, we observed that the association was stronger in current smokers than in the overall male population, but was not seen in non-smokers. Therefore, different approaches by sex and smoking status might be needed when considering using vitamin D as a biomarker for renal function.
보조진동전계를 이용한 전기영동전착 YBCO 초전도 선재의 제작 연구

In order to improve the surface uniformity and the conduction properties of the fabricated YBCO thick films, a system that applies alternating field vertically to the EPD field has been developed for the first time and applied to the electrophoretic deposition process. The applied alternating electric field caused a force to be exerted on each YBCO particle and resulted in a shaking of the particle in the direction of applied electric field, accomplishing a uniform particle orientation. For commercial utilization and efficiency, in this dissertation, alternating voltage of 25∼120 V/cm in frequency of 60Hz was proposed to apply it as a subsidiary source for shaky-flow deposition so that the fabricated thin film showed uniform surface morphology with less voids and cracks and T_(c,zero) of 90 K and the critical current density of 3419 A/cm_(2).

<P>Bipolar disorder (BD) is a psychiatric disease that causes mood swings between manic and depressed states. Although genetic linkage studies have shown an association between BD and TRPM2, a Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-permeable cation channel, the nature of this association is unknown. Here, we show that D543E, a mutation of <I>Trpm2</I> that is frequently found in BD patients, induces loss of function. <I>Trpm2</I>-deficient mice exhibited BD-related behavior such as increased anxiety and decreased social responses, along with disrupted EEG functional connectivity. Moreover, the administration of amphetamine in wild-type mice evoked a notable increase in open-field activity that was reversed by the administration of lithium. However, the anti-manic action of lithium was not observed in the <I>Trpm2</I><SUP>−/−</SUP> mice. The brains of <I>Trpm2</I><SUP>−/−</SUP> mice showed a marked increase in phosphorylated glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3), a key element in BD-like behavior and a target of lithium. In contrast, activation of TRPM2 induced the dephosphorylation of GSK-3 via calcineurin, a Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-dependent phosphatase. Importantly, the overexpression of the D543E mutant failed to induce the dephosphorylation of GSK-3. Therefore, we conclude that the genetic dysfunction of <I>Trpm2</I> causes uncontrolled phosphorylation of GSK-3, which may lead to the pathology of BD. Our findings explain the long-sought etiologic mechanism underlying the genetic link between <I>Trpm2</I> mutation and BD.</P><P><B>SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT</B> Bipolar disorder (BD) is a mental disorder that causes changes in mood and the etiology is still unknown. TRPM2 is highly associated with BD; however, its involvement in the etiology of BD is still unknown. We show here that TRPM2 plays a central role in causing the pathology of BD. We found that D543E, a mutation of <I>Trpm2</I> frequently found in BD patients, induces the loss of function. <I>Trpm2</I>-deficient mice exhibited mood disturbances and impairments in social cognition. TRPM2 actively regulates the phosphorylation of GSK-3, which is a main target of lithium, a primary medicine for treating BD. Therefore, abnormal regulation of GSK-3 by hypoactive TRPM2 mutants accounts for the pathology of BD, providing the possible link between BD and TRPM2.</P>

모바일을 위한 UML 2.0 기반의 아키텍쳐 모델링 언어 프레임웍

Acme와 같은 ADL(Architecture Description Language) 들은 컴포넌트 기반 시스템의 아키텍쳐를 정형적으로 명세할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 날로 다각화되는 개발 과정 상의 이해관계들을 다 포용하지 못하고, 아키텍쳐에 특화된 별도의 표기 형식을 익혀야 하는 부담이 있어 아키텍쳐를 명세하는 언어로서 정착되지 못하고 있다. 반면 UML(Unified Modeling Language)은 범용 모델링 언어이며 소프트웨어 개발의 전 과정에 일관된 표기형식과 폭넓은 지원도구들을 제공하고 있어 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 사실상의 표준 언어로 자리잡고 있다. 이에 따라 지금까지 UML을 이용하여 아키텍쳐를 모델링하기 위한 연구들이 많이 진행되어 왔다. 특히 UML에서 표현수단이 미흡한 아키텍쳐의 핵심 개념들을 명시적으로 표현할 수 있도록 UML의 확장 메커니즘을 사용하여 UML을 특화하는 연구 결과들이 많이 소개되고 있으나 특화된 영역의 아키텍쳐를 기술하기에는 부족하다. 본 논문에서는 최근에 활발히 개발되고 있는 모바일 애플리케이션의 특징중의 하나인 device의 제약사항을 QoS로 정의하고 UML 확장메커니즘을 이용하여 모바일을 위한 아키텍쳐 모델링 언어 프레임웍을 제시하고 있다.
Higher Order Eigenfields in Mode Ⅱ Cracks Under Elastic-Plastic Deformation

The explicit formulation of the J-integral and the M-integral is constructed in terms of the stress intensity factor and the higher order stress coefficients for Mode II cracks under small or large scale yielding. Furthermore, the stress intensity factor and the higher order stress coefficients as well are computed with the aid of the two-state J-and the M-integral, which is found to be accurate and efficient. It is found that the contribution from the higher order singularities to the J-integral is closely related to the configuration of the plastic zone.<br/>
