        The Benefits of Indirect Exposure to Trauma

        Objective Ambulance personnel who witness trauma experienced by patients have been reported to experience positive changes, known as vicarious posttraumatic growth (VPTG). We examined VPTG and its relationship with social support and resilience among ambulance personnel. Methods The sample (n=227) was recruited from six emergency centers in China. The measures included the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI), the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), and the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10). Structure Equation Modeling (SEM) and the bootstrapping procedure were used to examine indirect effects. Results The participants’ mean score for VPTG was 68.96 (SD=15.51). Social support had significant direct effects on resilience (β=0.51, p<0.001) and VPTG (β=0.25, p=0.001), and resilience (β=0.58, p<0.001) had a significant direct effect on VPTG. Furthermore, social support had a significant indirect effect (0.51×0.58=0.30, p<0.001) on VPTG through resilience. Conclusion Although the nature of the work of ambulance personnel is not expected to change, the negative effects of the trauma they encounter can be reduced by providing them with more support resources and interventions to foster their resilience, which in turn, promote VPTG.

      • Comprehensive Analysis of Capacitor Voltage Ripple for Hybrid MMCs Under Over-Modulation Conditions

        The charging and discharging process of full-bridge submodules (FBSMs) and half-bridge submodules (HBSMs) in the hybrid modular multilevel converters (MMCs) under over-modulation conditions is different. With the modulation index increasing, SM capacitor voltage ripple will be greater, even destabilize the system. In order to keep balance and ensure the output voltage quality, an accurate and comprehensive analysis of capacitor voltage ripple is important. This paper provides a detailed analysis of capacitor voltage ripple characteristics segmentally, and derives the balanced operating boundary. On this basis, the relationship between capacitor voltage ripple, the modulation index and power factor angle are discussed, and two types of capacitor voltages ripple are proposed. Moreover, their maximum and minimum values are derived. Finally, simulation and experiments are implemented under different over-modulation conditions, and the influence of nearest level modulation (NLM) and phase disposition pulse-width modulation (PD-PWM) on capacitor voltage ripple is compared in experiments.

        Immune-Enhancing Treatment among Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis Patients with Metabolic Abnormalities: A Post Hoc Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial

        Background/Aims: Metabolic syndrome is common in patients with acute pancreatitis and its components have been reported to be associated with infectious complications. In this post hoc analysis, we aimed to evaluate whether metabolic abnormalities impact the effect of immuneenhancing thymosin alpha-1 (Tα1) therapy in acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP) patients. Methods: All data were obtained from the database for a multicenter randomized clinical trial that evaluated the efficacy of Tα1 in ANP patients. Patients who discontinued the Tα1 treatment prematurely were excluded. The primary outcome was 90-day infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) after randomization. Three post hoc subgroups were defined based on the presence of hyperglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, or both at the time of randomization. In each subgroup, the correlation between Tα1 and 90-day IPN was assessed using the Cox proportional-hazards regression model. Multivariable propensity-score methods were used to control potential bias. Results: Overall, 502 participants were included in this post hoc analysis (248 received Tα1 treatment and 254 received matching placebo treatment). Among them, 271 (54.0%) had hyperglycemia, 371 (73.9%) had hypertriglyceridemia and 229 (45.6%) had both. Tα1 therapy was associated with reduced incidence of IPN among patients with hyperglycemia (18.8% vs 29.7%: hazard ratio, 0.80; 95% confidence interval, 0.37 to 0.97; p=0.03), but not in the other subgroups. Additional multivariate regression models using three propensity-score methods yielded similar results. Conclusions: Among ANP patients with hyperglycemia, immune-enhancing Tα1 treatment was associated with a reduced risk of IPN (ClinicalTrials.gov, Registry number: NCT02473406).

        A new virtual-real gravity compensated inverted pendulum model and ADAMS simulation for biped robot with heterogeneous legs

        Our research team combined humanoid robots with intelligent lower limb prostheses to study the dynamic characteristics of intelligent lower extremity prostheses for disabled people in the walking process, and proposed a biped robot with heterogeneous legs (BRHL). This paper proposes a new virtual-real inverted pendulum system model to unify the models for both single support phase and double support phase in walking process and builds a special simulation platform which can acquire the real-time center of mass (COM) trajectory. Initially, a gravity-compensated inverted pendulum model was built and improved the stability of gait, a natural ZMP trajectory improved the anthropomorphism of the gait. Furthermore, in double support phase, a virtual inverted pendulum model was established and a virtual-real inverted pendulum model was proposed and used to plan the gait of both single support phase and double support phase in the walking process. Additionally, the joint angles were obtained by inverse kinematics; the stability of the system was analyzed to be feasible and effective by phase trajectories. A special ADAMS simulation platform was built to simulate the walking process and acquire real-time COM trajectory. The feasibility of the gait planning was also verified. Finally, the trajectory of COM was optimized based on the minimum energy criterion according to the geodesic equation.

        글로벌 환경에서 우수한 무역인재의 보유는 이제 국가의 수출경쟁력을 좌우하게 된다. 따라서 이러한 인재를 양성하기 위한 교육 프로그램을 전세계적으로 운영하고 있다. 우리나라 역시 예외는 아니다. 다양한 무역인재양성프로그램을 수행하고 있다. 그 중에서 가장 실효성 있는 프로그램이라 할 수 있는 지역특화청년무역전문가양성사업에 대해 본 연구를 살펴보고자 한다. 지역특화청년무역전문가양성사업의 교육을 이수한 학생들을 대상으로 그들이 국제화의도를 증폭시키는데 교육의 서비스가 어떠한 역할을 하는지 알아보고 있다. 그 결과, 강사품질, 교육인프라품질, 교육품질 모두가 교육만족도와 국제화의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 교육만족도는 매개변수로서의 역할을 수행하고 있었다. 이는 단순히 교육을 수행하는 것이 중요한 것이 아니라 교육서비스품질이 무엇보다 중요함을 시사하고 있어 향후 교육자 양성에도 관심을 가져야만 우수한 무역인재가 양성될 수 있음을 본 연구결과는 보여주고 있다. In the global management environment, having trade talents can determine export competitiveness. Therefore, most of countries are carrying out various educational programs to be able cultivate or educate outstanding trade talents. South Korea is no exception. It is carrying out various educational programs such as GTEP, Glocal Trade Experts Incubating Program. Based on GTEP, this study would like to investigate empirical relationships between education service quality and international intention. As a result, all of education service quality such as educators` quality, educational infra quality, and education quality are significantly related to educational satisfaction and international intention. These results imply that improving educational service quality is better than carrying out education programs simply for cultivating outstanding trade talents.

      • Downregulation of autophagy by Bcl-2 promotes MCF7 breast cancer cell growth independent of its inhibition of apoptosis

        The anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein, which confers oncogenic transformation and drug resistance in most human cancers, including breast cancer, has recently been shown to effectively counteract autophagy by directly targeting Beclin1, an essential autophagy mediator and tumor suppressor. However, it remains unknown whether autophagy inhibition contributes to Bcl-2-mediated oncogenesis. Here, by using a loss-of-function mutagenesis study, we show that Bcl-2-mediated antagonism of autophagy has a critical role in enhancing the tumorigenic properties of MCF7 breast cancer cells independent of its anti-apoptosis activity. A Bcl-2 mutant defective in apoptosis inhibition but competent for autophagy suppression promotes MCF7 breast cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo as efficiently as wild-type Bcl-2. The growth-promoting activity of this Bcl-2 mutant is strongly correlated with its suppression of Beclin1-dependent autophagy, leading to sustained p62 expression and increased DNA damage in xenograft tumors, which may directly contribute to tumorigenesis. Thus, the anti-autophagic property of Bcl-2 is a key feature of Bcl-2-mediated oncogenesis and may in some contexts, serve as an attractive target for breast and other cancer therapies.

        High-Pitch Coronary CT Angiography at 70 kVp Adopting a Protocol of Low Injection Speed and Low Volume of Contrast Medium

        Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and image quality (IQ) of prospectively high-pitch coronary CT angiography (CCTA) with low contrast medium injection rate at 70 kVp. Materials and Methods: One hundred and four patients with suspected coronary artery disease (body mass index < 26 kg/m2, sinus rhythm and heart rate < 70 beats/min) were prospectively enrolled and randomly divided into two groups. In group A and group B, 28 mL and 40 mL of 370 mgI/mL iodinated contrast media was administrated at a flow rate of 3.5 and 5 mL/s, respectively. CT values, noise, signal-to-noise ratio, contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of the proximal segments of coronary arteries and subjective IQ were evaluated. Results: The CT values and noise in group A were significantly lower than those in group B (434–485 Hounsfield units [HU] vs. 772–851 HU, all p < 0.001; 17.8–22.3 vs. 23.3–26.4, all p < 0.005). The CNRs of the right coronary artery and left main artery showed no statistical difference between the two groups (42.1 ± 13.8 vs. 36.8 ± 16.0, p = 0.074; 38.7 ± 10.6 vs. 38.1 ± 17.0, p = 0.819). No statistical difference was observed between the two groups in IQ scores (3.04 ± 0.75 vs. 3.0 ± 0.79, p = 0.526) and diagnostic ratio (96.1% [50/52] vs. 94.2% [49/52], p = 0.647). Conclusion: Prospective high-pitch CCTA at 70 kVp with 28 mL of contrast media and injection rate of 3.5 mL/s could provide diagnostic IQ for normal-weight patients with heart rate of < 70 beats/min.

        Characterization of a New Isolate of Chilli ringspot virus in Yunnan, China

        Virus diseases are the major limiting factors of chilli production in China. A virus isolate of chilli ringspot virus-Yunnan (ChiRSV-YN) from chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) showing mild mosaic, leaf crinkling, ringspot, and vein banding symptoms was recently identified in Yunnan, China. The electron microscopy confirmed the virus as a typical potyvirus having flexuous filamentous particles ca. 780 nm in length. Several chilli and tobacco varieties were tested through mechanical inoculation and found to be susceptible to the virus isolate ChiRSV-YN. The viral genome was sequenced through RNA sequencing. The complete genomic RNA of the isolate (GenBank Acc. No. KX258620) consisted of 9,652 nucleotides (nt) excluding the poly (A) tail at the 3ʹ end. The isolate contains a large ORF which encodes a polyprotein of 3,086 amino acids (aa) with Mr. of 349.21 kDa. It had a typical genomic organization of potyviruses. The complete nucleotide and polyprotein sequences of ChiRSV-YN had 87.6 and 93.2% identities with the ChiRSV-HN/14, respectively. The result showed ChiRSV-YN is a new isolate of ChiRSV and it is the first full-length genome characterization of ChiRSV in Yunnan, China. Understanding of the characteristics of this virus isolate might provide the basis for disease diagnosis and control in the future.
