In this paper, we introduce and study a class of general strongly nonlinear quasivariational inequalities in Hilbert spaces. We prove the existence and uniqueness of solution and convergence of the perturbed the three-step iterative sequences with errors for this kind of general strongly nonlinear quasivariational inquality problems involving relaxed Lipschitz, relaxed monotone, and strongly monotone mappings. Our results extend, improve, and unify many known results due to Liu-Ume-Kang, Kim-Kyung, Zeng and others.

In this article, we consider a fourth order nonlinear dierence system. By making use of the critical point theory, we obtain some new existence theorems of at least one periodic solution with minimal period. Our main approach used in this article is the variational technique and the Saddle Point Theorem.
On the role of surface diffusion in determining the shape or morphology of noble-metal nanocrystals
Xia, Xiaohu,Xie, Shuifen,Liu, Maochang,Peng, Hsin-Chieh,Lu, Ning,Wang, Jinguo,Kim, Moon J.,Xia, Younan National Academy of Sciences 2013 PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF Vol.110 No.17

Controlling the shape or morphology of metal nanocrystals is central to the realization of their many applications in catalysis, plasmonics, and electronics. In one of the approaches, the metal nanocrystals are grown from seeds of certain crystallinity through the addition of atomic species. In this case, manipulating the rates at which the atomic species are added onto different crystallographic planes of a seed has been actively explored to control the growth pattern of a seed and thereby the shape or morphology taken by the final product. Upon deposition, however, the adsorbed atoms (adatoms) may not stay at the same sites where the depositions occur. Instead, they can migrate to other sites on the seed owing to the involvement of surface diffusion, and this could lead to unexpected deviations from a desired growth pathway. Herein, we demonstrated that the growth pathway of a seed is indeed determined by the ratio between the rates for atom deposition and surface diffusion. Our result suggests that surface diffusion needs to be taken into account when controlling the shape or morphology of metal nanocrystals.

In order to stabilize underactuated robotic systems with external disturbances, an adaptive hierarchicalsliding mode control strategy based on extended state observer is proposed. The extended state observer is designed to estimate the joint states and lumped disturbance composed of matched and unmatched disturbances. Theunderactuated robotic system is divided into two subsystems. For each subsystem, a sub-sliding mode surface isconstructed to obtain the first layer sliding mode surface and the second layer sliding mode surface is derived fromthe first layer sliding mode surface. Then the hierarchical sliding mode controller is designed with the estimatedstate obtained from the observer to compensate the lumped disturbance and an adaptive law is designed to adjustthe switching gain. The stability of the system is proved by Lyapunov theory and the effectiveness of the proposedcontrol strategy is verified by comparative simulations. With the proposed control, the tracking performance of theunderactuated robotic system is effectively improved and the convergence time of the system is reduced.
Roles of Signaling Pathways in the Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Cancer
Liu, Xia,Yun, Fen,Shi, Lin,Li, Zhe-Hai,Luo, Nian-Rong,Jia, Yong-Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15
The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a cellular process though which an epithelial phenotype can be converted into a phenotype of mesenchymal cells. Under physiological conditions EMT is important for embryogenesis, organ development, wound repair and tissue remodeling. However, EMT may also be activated under pathologic conditions, especially in carcinogenesis and metastatic progression. Major signaling pathways involved in EMT include transforming growth factor ${\beta}(TGF-{\beta})$, Wnt, Notch, Hedgehog and other signaling pathways. These pathways are related to several transcription factors, including Twist, Smads and zinc finger proteins snail and slug. These interact with each other to provide crosstalk between the relevant signaling pathways. This review lays emphasis on studying the relationship between EMT and signaling pathways in carcinogenesis and metastatic progression.

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha-induced protein 8 (TNFAIP8 or TIPE) is a recently identified protein considered to be associated with carcinogenesis. To investigate its expression pattern in pancreatic cancer patients and to analyse its correlation with clinicopathological significance and the expression levels of epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR), immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the TNFAIP8 and EGFR proteins in pancreatic cancers, pancreatitis tissues, and healthy controls. The results showed stronger staining of TNFAIP8 protein in pancreatic cancer tissues compared with normal pancreas tissue. Furthermore, in 56 patients with pancreatic cancer, the expression levels of TNFAIP8 in patients with low tumor stage was higher than that with high tumor stage, and correlated with tumor staging and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). Furthermore, TNFAIP8 expression positively correlated with EGFR levels (r=0.671135, P<0.05). These results indicate that TNFAIP8 may play important roles in the progression of pancreatic cancer.
Compound HRAS/PIK3CA Mutations in Chinese Patients with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcomas

The rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common type of soft tissue tumor in children and adolescents; yet only a few screens for oncogenic mutations have been conducted for RMS. To identify novel mutations and potential therapeutic targets, we conducted a high-throughput Sequenom mass spectrometry-based analysis of 238 known mutations in 19 oncogenes in 17 primary formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded RMS tissue samples and two RMS cell lines. Mutations were detected in 31.6% (6 of 19) of the RMS specimens. Specifically, mutations in the NRAS gene were found in 27.3% (3 of 11) of embryonal RMS cases, while mutations in NRAS, HRAS, and PIK3CA genes were identified in 37.5% (3 of 8) of alveolar RMS (ARMS) cases; moreover, PIK3CA mutations were found in 25% (2 of 8) of ARMS specimens. The results demonstrate that tumor profiling in archival tissue samples is a useful tool for identifying diagnostic markers and potential therapeutic targets and suggests that these HRAS/ PIK3CA mutations play a critical role in the genesis of RMS.
