최근 신경과학의 발전으로 뇌에 기반을 둔 프로그램들이 증가 추세에 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 초등학생의 정서지능, 지각된 스트레스 및 스트레스 대처능력에 초점을 맞추어, 뇌의 기능을 고려한 정서규제 프로그램인 뇌교육 프로그램의 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 기존의 정서규제 프로그램들의 효과검증이 단기간 동안 실험실상황에서 이루어진 것과는 달리, 1학년도(주 1회, 총 35회)에 걸쳐 학교현장에 적용하였다. 연구대상으로 초등학교 5학년 두 학급을 선정하여 사전-사후검사 통제집단 설계를 적용하여 뇌교육 프로그램을 실시하였다. 측정도구로는 정서지능 척도, 스트레스 척도, 스트레스 대처행동 척도를 사용하였으며, 자료 분석은 Repeated Measures ANOVA 방식을 사용하였다. 분석결과, 뇌교육 프로그램은 초등학생의 정서지능을 향상시키고 스트레스를 감소시키며, 스트레스 대처행동에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. Brain-oriented educational programs are increasingly popular. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of a classroom-based Brain Education program, which is strongly focused on elementary children"s emotional intelligence, perceived stress, and stress coping strategies. Twenty-seven fifth-grade elementary school students completed tile Brain Education program over the course of a full academic year. Twenty-five students in a control group participated in Chinese writing classes. Pre-test post-test comparisons were conducted through repeated measures ANOVA, to evaluate tile impact of the Brain Education program. The brain education program positively influenced emotional intelligence and the degree of perceived stress, and the stress coping strategies. Results are discussed in terms of possible mechanisms of benefit and recommendations fur future research.
