<P>Sixteen arene–Ru based molecular-rectangles were self-assembled in high yields by the equimolar mixing of arene–Ru acceptors (<B>Aa–Ad</B>) with various azopyridyl ligands (1,2-di(pyridyl-4yl)diazene (<B>L1</B>), 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazine (<B>L2</B>), 1,2-bis(1-(pyridin-4-yl)ethylidene)hydrazine (<B>L3</B>), 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazine (<B>L4</B>)) in nitromethane–methanol solutions. These new molecular-rectangles were fully characterized by a host of analytical techniques including elemental analysis, <SUP>1</SUP>H and <SUP>13</SUP>C NMR and HR-ESI-MS. The solid-state structures of two molecular-rectangles (<B>1b</B> and <B>4d</B>) were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction data. UV-visible and fluorescence studies were also carried out for the entire suite of rectangles. As with recent studies of similar arene–Ru complexes, the anti-proliferative activities of these complexes were evaluated against SK-hep-1 (liver cancer) and A-549 (lung cancer) human cancer lines. Additionally, the cellular pharmacology and intracellular localizations in AGS (gastric cancer) human cancer cells were determined for selected complexes (<B>1c</B>, <B>1d</B> and <B>4c</B>) by apoptosis and fluorescence microscopy studies. <P>Two novel nano-cage compounds, 8 and 9, were prepared by self-assembly of the ruthenium complexes 4 and 5, and the tripodal donor 1. The cytotoxicity of 8 was found to be considerably stronger than that of cisplatin. <P>Two new supramolecular coordination complexes (SCCs) were obtained from the self-assembly of a new bis-benzimidazole bridged Ru acceptor, <B>4</B>, with dipyridyl and tripyridyl donors, respectively. <P>The synthesis of new 2+2 metallarectangles via coordination-driven self-assembly of octahedral Ru(II)-based acceptors and amide donors is described. <P>A novel, interlocked, self-assembled (M<SUB>2</SUB>L<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB> molecular architecture was constructed from an arene-Ru acceptor and a 1,4-di(pyridin-4-yl)buta-1,3-diyne donor. Two M<SUB>2</SUB>L<SUB>2</SUB> units, with cavities of ∼7.21 Å, spontaneously interlock, with one unit encapsulating a twin in a non-catenane fashion. Early Infant Feeding Practices May Influence the Onset of Symptomatic Celiac Disease

Purpose: To study whether breastfeeding and breastfeeding status during gluten introduction influences the age at diagnosis of celiac disease (CD). In addition to study, whether the timing of gluten introduction influences the age at diagnosis of CD. Methods: It was a hospital based observational study. Total 198 patients diagnosed with CD as per modified European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (2012) criteria, aged between 6 months to 6 years were included. Detail history taken with special emphasis on breastfeeding and age of gluten introduction. Standard statistical methods used to analyze the data. Results: $Mean{\pm}standard$ deviation age of onset and diagnosis of CD in breastfed cases was $2.81{\pm}1.42$ years and $3.68{\pm}1.55$ years respectively as compared to $1.84{\pm}1.36$ years and $2.70{\pm}1.65$ years respectively in not breastfed cases (p<0.05). Those who had continued breastfeeding during gluten introduction and of longer duration had significantly delayed onset of disease. The age at onset of CD was under one year in 40.42% of the cases, who had started gluten before 6 months of age compared to only 12.58% of those who had started gluten later (p<0.001). The proposed statistical model showed that two variables, i.e., breast feeding status during gluten introduction and age at gluten introduction positively influencing the age at diagnosis of CD. Conclusion: Delayed gluten introduction to infant's diet along with continuing breastfeeding, delays symptomatic CD. However, it is not clear from our study that these infant feeding practices provide permanent protection against the disease or merely delays the symptoms.
