In recent days, actuators in automotive industry such as power-steering, ABS(Anti-lock Braking System), transmission, clutch, and etc, which are dependent on hydraulic systems, have been replaced with electrical actuators. However the electrical motors happen to lose their performance due to voltage drop caused by load variation, wire extension, or temperature increase as they are located near to engine. Generally, motors running in normal temperature and standard voltage, can work without abnormal performance loss. However temperature which changes inductance of stator, coil resistance and magnetism in motors, disturbs their ideal driving. At lower temperature, environmental changes in inductance or magnetism rarely decrease the performance, but at higher temperature, they come to lower the performance of actuators. This paper presents the performance variation of actuators using BLDC in automotive environment and inspects minimum arrival time of target objects in different circumstance with various voltages and temperature by simulation.
