Preparation and Properties of Inverse Perovskite Mn3GaN Thin Films and Heterostructures

Thin films and heterostructures of Mn3GaN with an inverse perovskite structure were grownepitaxially on SrTiO3 (001) and (La0.18Sr0.82)(Al0.59Ta0.41)O3 (001) (LSAT) substrates by ionbeam sputtering, and their structural and electrical properties have been investigated. Mn3GaNepitaxial thin films showed metallic behavior of temperature-dependent resistivity with a smallmaximum at 290-340 K. The maximum resistivity could be attributed to the magnetic transitionfrom antiferromagnetism to paramagnetism. It has been found that epitaxial heterostructuresformed by ferroelectric Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 and Mn3GaN layers exhibit a large magnetocapacitanceeffect of more than 2000% in an applied magnetic filed of 1.5 T.

<P>Dihadron and isolated direct photon-hadron angular correlations are measured in p + p collisions at root s = 510 GeV. Correlations of charged hadrons of 0.7 < p(T) < 10 GeV/c with pi(0) mesons of 4 < p(T) < 15 GeV/c or isolated direct photons of 7 < p(T) < 15 GeV/c are used to study nonperturbative effects generated by initial-state partonic transverse momentum and final-state transverse momentum from fragmentation. The nonperturbative behavior is characterized by measuring the out-of-plane transverse momentum component p(out) perpendicular to the axis of the trigger particle, which is the high-p(T) direct photon or pi(0). Nonperturbative evolution effects are extracted from Gaussian fits to the away-side inclusive-charged-hadron yields for different trigger-particle transverse momenta (p(T)(trig)). The Gaussian widths and root mean square of p(out) are reported as a function of the interaction hard scale p(T)(trig) to investigate possible transverse-momentum-dependent evolution differences between the pi(0)-h(+/-) and direct photon-h(+/-) correlations and factorization breaking effects. The widths are found to decrease with p(T)(trig) , which indicates that the Collins-Soper-Sterman soft factor is not driving the evolution with the hard scale in nearly back-to-back dihadron and direct photon-hadron production in p + p collisions. This behavior is in contrast to Drell-Yan and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering measurements.</P>
Angular decay coefficients of J/ψ mesons at forward rapidity from p+p collisions at s=510 GeV

<P>We report the first measurement of the full angular distribution for inclusive J/psi -> mu(+)mu(-) decays in p + p collisions at root s = 510 GeV. The measurements are made for J/psi transverse momentum 2 < p(T) < 10 GeV /c and rapidity 1.2 < y < 2.2 in the Helicity, Collins-Soper, and Gottfried-Jackson reference frames. In all frames the polar coefficient lambda theta is strongly negative at low p(T) and becomes close to zero at high p(T), while the azimuthal coefficient lambda phi is close to zero at low p(T), and becomes slightly negative at higher p(T). The frame-independent coefficient lambda is strongly negative at all p(T) in all frames. The data are compared to the theoretical predictions provided by nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics models.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We report a measurement of the Ξc+ and Ξc0 baryon masses, and the branching ratios for various <SUB>Ξc</SUB> decays, using 140 <SUP>fb−1</SUP> of data collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB <SUP>e+</SUP><SUP>e−</SUP> collider. The mass splitting <SUB>mΞc0</SUB>−<SUB>mΞc+</SUB> is found to be 2.9±0.5 MeV/<SUP>c2</SUP>; this measurement is three times as precise as the current world average. We measure the branching ratios Γ(Ξc+→Λ<SUP>K−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)/Γ(Ξc+→<SUP>Ξ−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)=0.32±0.03±0.02 and Γ(Ξc0→p<SUP>K−</SUP><SUP>K−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)/Γ(Ξc0→<SUP>Ξ−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)=0.33±0.03±0.03, with improved precision, and measure Γ(Ξc+→pKS0KS0)/Γ(Ξc+→<SUP>Ξ−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)=0.087±0.016±0.014, Γ(Ξc0→Λ<SUP>K−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)/Γ(Ξc0→<SUP>Ξ−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)=1.07±0.12±0.07 and Γ(Ξc0→ΛKS0)/Γ(Ξc0→<SUP>Ξ−</SUP><SUP>π+</SUP>)=0.21±0.02±0.02 for the first time.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>We report the observation of <SUP>B0</SUP> decays to the <SUP>K+</SUP><SUP>π−</SUP><SUP>π0</SUP> final state using a data sample of 78 fb<SUP>−1</SUP> collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB <SUP>e+</SUP><SUP>e−</SUP> collider. With no assumptions about intermediate states in the decay, the branching fraction is measured to be (36.6−4.3+4.2±3.0)×<SUP>10−6</SUP>. We also search for <I>B</I> decays to intermediate two-body states with the same <SUP>K+</SUP><SUP>π−</SUP><SUP>π0</SUP> final state. Significant <I>B</I> signals are observed in the ρ<SUP>(770)−</SUP><SUP>K+</SUP> and <SUP>K*</SUP><SUP>(892)+</SUP><SUP>π−</SUP> channels, with branching fractions of (15.1−3.3−1.5−2.1+3.4+1.4+2.0)×<SUP>10−6</SUP> and (14.8−4.4−1.0−0.9+4.6+1.5+2.4)×<SUP>10−6</SUP>, respectively. The first error is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the largest possible interference. Contributions from other possible two-body states will be discussed. No <I>CP</I> asymmetry is found in the inclusive <SUP>K+</SUP><SUP>π−</SUP><SUP>π0</SUP> or <SUP>ρ−</SUP><SUP>K+</SUP> modes, and we set 90% confidence level bounds on the asymmetry of −0.12<<SUB>ACP</SUB><0.26 and −0.18<<SUB>ACP</SUB><0.64, respectively.</P>

<P>We report the first observation of a b-->u type charmless baryonic B decay, B+-->pppi(+), as well as b-->s type B0-->ppK0 and B+-->ppK(*+) decays. The analysis is based on a 78 fb(-1) data sample recorded on the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. We find B(B+-->pppi(+))=(3.06(+0.73)(-0.62)+/-0.37)x10(-6), B(B0-->ppK0)=(1.88(+0.77)(-0.60)+/-0.23)x10(-6), and B(B+-->ppK(*+))=(10.3(+3.6+1.3)(-2.8-1.7))x10(-6). We also update B(B+-->ppK+)=(5.66(+0.67)(-0.57)+/-0.62)x10(-6) and present an upper limit on B(B0-->ppK(*0)) at the 90% confidence level. A common feature of the observed decay modes is threshold peaking in baryon pair invariant mass.</P>

<P>We report the double-helicity asymmetry, A(LL)(J/Psi), in inclusive J/Psi production at forward rapidity as a function of transverse momentum p(T) and rapidity |y|. The data analyzed were taken during root s = 510 GeV longitudinally polarized p + p collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider in the 2013 run using the PHENIX detector. At this collision energy, J/Psi particles are predominantly produced through gluon-gluon scatterings, thus A(LL)(J/Psi) is sensitive to the gluon polarization inside the proton. We measured A(LL)(J/Psi) by detecting the decay daughter muon pairs mu(+)mu(-) within the PHENIX muon spectrometers in the rapidity range 1.2 < |y| < 2.2. In this kinematic range, we measured the A(LL)(J/Psi) to be 0.012 +/- 0.010 (stat) +/- 0.003 (syst). The A(LL)(J.Psi) can be expressed to be proportional to the product of the gluon polarization distributions at two distinct ranges of Bjorken x: one at moderate range x approximate to 5 x 10(-2) where recent data of jet and pi(0) double helicity spin asymmetries have shown evidence for significant gluon polarization, and the other one covering the poorly known small-x region x approximate to 2 x 10(-3). Thus our new results could be used to further constrain the gluon polarization for x < 5 x 10(-2).</P>
Measurements of B→J/ψ at forward rapidity in p+p collisions at s=510 GeV

<P>We report the first measurement of the fraction of J/psi mesons coming from B-meson decay (F (B -> J/psi)) in p + p collisions at root s = 510 GeV. The measurement is performed using the forward silicon vertex detector and central vertex detector at PHENIX, which provide precise tracking and distance-of-closest-approach determinations, enabling the statistical separation of J=. due to B-meson decays from prompt J/psi. The measured value of F (B -> J/psi) is 8.1% +/- 2.3% (stat) +/- 1.9% (syst) for J/psi with transverse momenta 0 < p(T) < 5 GeV/c and rapidity 1.2 < vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.2. The measured fraction F (B -> J/psi) at PHENIX is compared to values measured by other experiments at higher center of mass energies and to fixed-order-next-toleading- logarithm and color-evaporation-model predictions. The b (b) over bar cross section per unit rapidity [d sigma/dy(pp -> b (b) over bar)] extracted from the obtained F (B -> J/psi) and the PHENIX inclusive J/psi cross section measured at 200 GeV scaled with color-evaporation-model calculations, at the mean B hadron rapidity y = +/- 1.7 in 510 GeV p + p collisions, is 3.63(-1.70)(+1.92) mu b. It is consistent with the fixed-order-next-toleading- logarithm calculations.</P>

<P>Measurements of anisotropic flow Fourier coefficients (upsilon(n)) for inclusive charged particles and identified hadrons pi(+/-), K-+/-, p, and (p) over bar produced at midrapidity in Cu + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV are presented. The data were collected in 2012 by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). The particle azimuthal distributions with respect to different-order symmetry planes psi(n), for n = 1, 2, and 3 are studied as a function of transverse momentum p(T) over a broad range of collision centralities. Mass ordering, as expected from hydrodynamic flow, is observed for all three harmonics. The charged-particle results are compared with hydrodynamical and transport model calculations. We also compare these Cu + Au results with those in Cu + Cu and Au + Au collisions at the same root s(NN) and find that the upsilon(2) and upsilon(3), as a function of transverse momentum, follow a common scaling with 1/(epsilon N-n(part)1/3).</P>

<P>The cross section and transverse single-spin asymmetries of mu(-) and mu(+) from open heavy-flavor decays in polarized p + p collisions at pffisffiffi root s = 200 GeV were measured by the PHENIX experiment during 2012 at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Because heavy-flavor production is dominated by gluon-gluon interactions at ffiffiffi root s = 200 GeV, these measurements offer a unique opportunity to obtain information on the trigluon correlation functions. The measurements are performed at forward and backward rapidity (1.4 < vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.0) over the transverse momentum range of 1.25 < p(T) < 7 GeV/c for the cross section and 1.25 < p(T) < 5 GeV/c for the asymmetry measurements. The obtained cross section is compared to a fixed-order-plus-next-to-leading-log perturbative-quantum-chromodynamics calculation. The asymmetry results are consistent with zero within uncertainties, and a model calculation based on twist-3 three-gluon correlations agrees with the data.</P>
