        Effects of Sunghyangchungisan(SHCS) on Cellular Ion Contents and Metabolism in Cat Brain Cortical Slices under Hypoxic Insult

        목적: 고양이 대뇌피질 절편을 사용하여 저산소 발작을 유발한 뒤, 성향정기산이 세포의 이온 환경과 대사의 변화와 관련하여 어떤 영향을 미치는지 연구하였다. 방법: 고양이의 대뇌 피질 절편에 저산소 발작을 유발한 뒤 flame photometry scintillation, Spectrophotometry, method of Jorgensen and Skou, method of Fiske and Subbarow, oxygen monitor, luciferin-luciferase assay 등을 이용하여 세포내 이온함량과 세포대사를 측정하였다. 결과: 성향정기산은 저산소증으로 유발된 세포내의 $K^+$와 $Na^+$의 함량의 변화를 현저하게 지연시켰다. 성향정기산은 Na-K-ATPase의 억제제인 와바인 또는 대사억제제인 2.4-DNP로 유발된 세포내 $K^+$함량의 변화에 어떤 효과도 보이지 않았다. 또한, 정상 상태의 절편뿐만 아니라 저산소 상태의 절편에서 분리된 과립체의 분설에 있어서 Na-K-ATPase의 활동도에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 성향정기산은 저산소 발작하에서 산소 소비량과 세포의 ATP함량이 떨어지는 것을 현저하게 막았다. 또한 ATP를 생산하는 기능을 보호하는 저산소 조직의 사립체를 돕는데 효과적이었다. 결론: 성향정기산은 대뇌 조직의 저산소 발작하에서 세포의 이온 환경과 대사를 보호하는 유익한 효과가 있음을 알 수 있다.

      • 논에서 우분액비 시용이 총체보리 및 이탈리안 라이그라스의 생산성과 사료가치 및 환경오염에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 논에서 조사료 생산을 위한 작부형태별 우분액비의 시용효과를 규명하기 위하여 총체 벼 재배 후 우분액비 시용에 따른 총체보리 및 IRG의 생산성, 사료가치, 토양성분 및 용탈수중의 무기물 농도를 조사하였다. 본 연구는 2006년 5월부터 2009년 4월까지 3년 동안 전라북도 김제군 백산면 시험포장에서 완전임의배치 3반복으로 수행되었다. 총체보리의 2년간 평균수량은 7,520 kg/ha, 그리고 IRG는 평균 10,320 kg/ha으로 IRG가 총체보리 보다 현저하게 높은 수량을 보였다 (p<0.05). 이탈리안 라이그라스는 1번초가 2번초 보다 약 2배 이상의 수량을 보였다. IRG의 조단백질 함량은 총체보리보다 높았고 NDF, ADF 및 TDN 함량은 작물간에 큰 차이는 보이지 않았다. 경작형태별 우분액비 시용에 따른 토양내 pH, $P_2O_5$, T-N, OM 농도는 시험전에 비해 시험종료 후에 현저하게 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다 (p<0.05). 경작형태별 우분액비 시용에 따른 토양내 Ca, Na, Mg 및 K 농도는 시험전에 비해 시험종료 후에 현저하게 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다 (P<0.05). 경작형태별 우분액비 시용에 따른 용탈수중 $NH_4$-N, $NO_3$-N, $PO_4$-P, Cl, Ca, K, Mg, Na의 농도는 경작형태에 따른 확실한 차이를 보여주지 않았다. 따라서 논에서 우분액비를 이용하여 동계작물을 재배할 경우에는 수량도 중요하지만 환경적인 부분도 고려하여 우분액비를 이용해야 한다. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of cattle slurry on productivity of whole crop barley and Italian ryegrass and environmental pollution in paddy land. Cropping systems used in this study were consisted of two designs, such as whole crop barley applied with cattle slurry (WCB) and Italian ryegrass applied with cattle slurry (IRG). The field experiments were conducted on the clay loam at Backsanmyun, Kimje, Chunlabukdo province in Korea for three years (May 2006 to Apr. 2009). This study was arranged in completely randomized design with three replicates. The yields of WCB and IRG were 7,520 kg/ha and 10,320 kg/ha, respectively. The yields of IRG significantly increased as compared with that of WCB (p<0.05). The yield of Italian ryegrass in 1st cutting time was about 2-fold higher than that of 2nd cutting time. The contents of crude protein of IRG were higher than that of WCB. However, the contents of NDF, ADF and TDN were no difference between WCB and IRG treatments. The pH, and contents of T-N, $P_2O_5$ and organic matter (OM) in soil samples collected at the end of the experiment increased as compared with those at the beginning of the experiment (p<0.05). After the end of experiment, the concentrations of CEC (Ca, Na, Mg and K) in soil samples collected at the end of the experiment were remarkably higher than those at the beginning of the experiment (p<0.05). The concentrations of $NH_4$-N, $NO_3$-N, $PO_4$-P, Cl, Ca, K, Mg and Na in leaching water in paddy land cultivated with WCB and IRG were no difference between WCB and IRG treatments.

        Gintonin facilitates catecholamine secretion from the perfused adrenal medulla

        The present study was designed to investigate the characteristics of gintonin, one of components isolated from Korean Ginseng on secretion of catecholamines (CA) from the isolated perfused model of rat adrenal gland and to clarify its mechanism of action. Gintonin (1 to 30 μg/ml), perfused into an adrenal vein, markedly increased the CA secretion from the perfused rat adrenal medulla in a dose-dependent fashion. The gintonin-evoked CA secretion was greatly inhibited in the presence of chlorisondamine (1 μM, an autonomic ganglionic bloker), pirenzepine (2 μM, a muscarinic M<sub>1</sub> receptor antagonist), Ki14625 (10 μM, an LPA<sub>1/3</sub> receptor antagonist), amiloride (1 mM, an inhibitor of Na<sup>+</sup>/Ca<sup>2+</sup> exchanger), a nicardipine (1 μM, a voltage-dependent Ca<sup>2+</sup> channel blocker), TMB-8 (1 μM, an intracellular Ca<sup>2+ </sup>antagonist), and perfusion of Ca<sup>2+</sup>-free Krebs solution with 5mM EGTA (a Ca<sup>2+</sup>chelater), while was not affected by sodium nitroprusside (100 μM, a nitrosovasodialtor). Interestingly, LPA (0.3~3 μM, an LPA receptor agonist) also dose-dependently enhanced the CA secretion from the adrenal medulla, but this facilitatory effect of LPA was greatly inhibited in the presence of Ki 14625 (10 μM). Moreover, acetylcholine (AC)-evoked CA secretion was greatly potentiated during the perfusion of gintonin (3 μg/ml). Taken together, these results demonstrate the first evidence that gintonin increases the CA secretion from the perfused rat adrenal medulla in a dose-dependent fashion. This facilitatory effect of gintonin seems to be associated with activation of LPA- and cholinergic-receptors, which are relevant to the cytoplasmic Ca<sup>2+</sup> increase by stimulation of the Ca<sup>2+</sup> influx as well as by the inhibition of Ca<sup>2+</sup> uptake into the cytoplasmic Ca<sup>2+</sup> stores, without the increased nitric oxide (NO). Based on these results, it is thought that gintonin, one of ginseng components, can elevate the CA secretion from adrenal medulla by regulating the Ca<sup>2+</sup> mobilization for exocytosis, suggesting facilitation of cardiovascular system. Also, these findings show that gintonin might be at least one of ginseng-induced hypertensive components.

      • 艾灸가 家兎의 筋損傷에 미치는 影響

        To know that how be effected muscle injury by moxibustion treatment, we have measured the changes in concentration of electrolytes(K^+, Na^+, Cl^-), activity of LDH and CPK from blood serum after complete compression with rubber tourniquet around the femoral area of rabbit. And we also examined effects of moxibustion applied to a meridian point Jog Sam Ri(S 36), Kan Soo(B18) on changes of concentration of electrolytes (K^+, Na^+, Cl^-), activity of LDH and CPK from blood serum at 30, 60, 90 minutes and 18 hours after release of tourniquet. The results obtained from this study were as follows; 1. Among the concentration of electrolytes, that of K^+ in B 18 group at all times for blood serum has shown a significant increase than in control group, that of Cl^- in S 36 and B 18 group at 18 hours for blood serum has shown a significant decrease than in control group. 2. The activity of LDH in B 18 group for blood serum has shown a significant decrease compared with control group, but in s 36 group has not shown a significant decrease compared with control group. 3. The activity of CPK in B 18 group for blood serum has shown a significant decrease compared with control group, but in S 36 group has shown a increase compared with control group. According to the above results, we have identified that moxibustion can recover muscle injury, and have considered that better effect upon in B18 than in S 36.

      • Energy storage capabilities of nitrogen-enriched pyropolymer nanoparticles fabricated through rapid pyrolysis

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Nanostructured pyropolymers contain significant amounts of redox-active heteroatoms, have high specific surface areas, and a defective carbon microstructure, indicating good potential for pseudocapacitive charge storage. In this study, nitrogen-enriched pyropolymer nanoparticles (N-PNs-50) are fabricated from polyaniline nanotubes through rapid pyrolysis at 50 °C min<SUP>−1</SUP>. N-PNs-50 exhibit a nitrogen content of 9.8 wt%, a high specific surface area of 875.8 m<SUP>2</SUP> g<SUP>−1</SUP>, and an amorphous carbon structure with an I<SUB> <I>D</I> </SUB>/I<SUB> <I>G</I> </SUB> intensity ratio of 0.95. These unique characteristics lead to good electrochemical performances, in which reversible capacities of 660 and 255 mAh g<SUP>−1</SUP> are achieved for Li-ion and Na-ion storage, respectively, with favorable voltage characteristics (<1.5 V for Li-ions and <1.2 V for Na-ions).         결명자 추출물의 추출특성 및 항산화 효과

        The present study was conducted to investigate extraction characteristics and antioxidative activity of Cassia tora L. extracts, Casia tora L. was extracted by reflux extraction under different extraction conditions including solvent. The solid yield, turbidity, color value, titratable acidity, free sugar contents, electron donating ability and superoxide dismutase-like ability of Cassia tora L. extracts were determined. The highest solid yield value was obtained with water of 10 fold. No significant difference in turbidity and color value were found among the extracts prepared with various extraction solvents, 75% ethanol, 50% ethanol and water. The highest titratable acidity was obtained with 50% ethanol of Cassia tora L.. The free sugar contents of Cassia tora L. extracted with water showed the highest value. Cassia tora L. extracts with water included higher contents of free sugar compared with those of the other solvent extracts, 50% ethanol and 75% ethanol extracts. The total polyphenol compound content of Cassia tora L. extracted with 50% ethanol showed the highest value. Cassia tora L. extracts with 50% ethanol included higher contents of total polyphenol compound compared with those of the other solvent extracts, water and 75% ethanol extracts.

        This study aims to suggest the basic data of the sustainable building design which is appropriate to Jeju environmental circumstance with integrated design method. Integrated building design is a process of design in which multiple disciplines of design are integrated to achieve high performance and multiple benefits at a lower cost than the total for all the components combined. In this study, people from different specialties such as designers, mechanical engineers, environmental consultants, builders and home owners participated in Sinhungli greenhouse project from the beginning of conceptual design. Field works, literature reviews, building load calculations were performed to identify solutions to design needs, environmental issues, water and energy conservation and the cost of construction.

      • 제주도 중산간 지역의 친환경 우수시스템 적용사례

        This paper aims to propose the sustainable design process and strategies of the rainwater system which is suitable for the environmental conditions of Jeju. The rainwater system will be used as an alternative plan to groundwater supply then it will reduce the damages from storms and environmental pollution. The case study was conducted to demonstrate the efficiency and feasibility of the proposed design process. In the case study, all of the supply water except drinking was utilized by rainwater, and the rainwater system was combined with the reusing water system. A plan to connect the system with biotope was also suggested in this study.
