Recently, the national target of GHG reduction has be presented voluntarily in whole world as it will be allocated regionally in Post-Kyoto mechanism. Korean government will also set up the GHG reduction target of 2020 soon. In the Korean railroad, ERP(Eco-green Railway Program) 2020 has been performing to countermeasure climate change polices from 2008. The aim of this study was to analyze CO2 emission and to predict its prospects by 2020 if the additional efforts do not be carried out for CO2 reduction. The CO2 emission was calculated using the amount of energy consumption from the operation of railcars and facilities, and then the change till 2020 was estimated. In the future, the GHG reduction target of Korean Railroad in 2020 will be determined reasonably on the application of railroad policies and technologies.

<P>A marine bacterium, GW1-1T, capable of degrading benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), was isolated from estuarine sediments of the South Sea (the Korea Strait), Korea, after an enrichment culture maintained for 2 years in a medium supplemented with a mixture of BaP and pyrene. The strain formed yellowish-brown colonies on marine agar 2216. Cells were strictly aerobic, non-motile, Gram-negative rods and produced non-diffusible carotenoid pigments. Optimal growth occurred in the presence of 1 % (w/v) NaCl and at pH 7 and 33-36 degrees C. No growth occurred without supplementation with either CaCl2 or MgCl2, even in the presence of NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on the nearly complete sequence of the 16S rRNA gene revealed that the isolate formed a phyletic lineage with the genera Gelidibacter (93.9-94.7 % gene sequence similarity), Subsaximicrobium (93.3 %) and Subsaxibacter (93.9 %). The isolate also showed high sequence similarities to Gaetbulibacter saemankumensis (94.5 %), Algibacter lectus (94.2 %), members of the genus Bizionia (93.6-94.3 %) and Formosa algae (93.2 %), even though it belonged to a different phyletic line. The major respiratory quinones of the isolate were menaquinones MK-5 and MK-6. The DNA G+C content was 51.4 mol%. Dominant fatty acids were i-15 : 0, a-15 : 0, i-15 : 1omega10c and 16 : 1. On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic evidence, strain GW1-1T is classified as a member of a novel genus and species in the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Yeosuana aromativorans gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of the type species is GW1-1T (=KCCM 42019T = JCM 12862T).</P>
Structural Simulation of Wrist Band for Wearable Device According to Design and Material Model

Elastomers based on the thermoplastics are widely used in rubber industries. Thermoplastic elastomers have the advantages of an easy shaping process and elimination of recycling problems. Thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPE) is used for making rubber bands in wearable devices and its applications are increasing. In this study, five wrist bands were designed and their mechanical behaviors were examined by computer simulation, using hyper elastic models, Mooney- Rivlin and Ogden models, and a linear elastic model. Simulation results were compared and discussed in terms of band design and material model.

Background/Aim: The prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is affected by stage as well as liver function. We analyzed the outcome of early stage HCC in Child-Pugh class C patients and advanced HCC in Child-Pugh class A patients. Methods: Among 453 HCC patients, group I included consecutive 33 patients with early stage (I,II) in Child-Pugh class C and Group II included 45 consecutive patients with advanced stage (III, IV) in Child-Pugh class A. We compared clinical characteristics, complications of cirrhosis, overall survival between two groups. Results: Younger age, male, presence of HBV, α-fetoprotein (AFP) (>400ng/ml), and MELD score (<15) were significantly high in advanced stage HCC in Child-Pugh class A patients (Group II) (p<0.05). Complications of cirrhosis such as variceal hemorrhage, ascites, and hepatic encephalopathy were increased in the Group I (p<0.05). Median overall survival was 24.5 months (95% CI 10.6-38.4) for Group I and 13.5 months (95% CI 4.6-22.3) for Group II (p=0.281). AFP was an independent prognostic factor in early stage in Child-Pugh class C patients (Group I). MELD score and tumor stage were independent prognostic factors in advanced stage in Child-Pugh class A patients (Group II). Conclusion: Overall survival was not different between two groups. AFP was a prognostic factor in early stage in Child-Pugh class C patients (Group I), whereas MELD score and tumor stage were prognostic factors in advanced stage in Child-Pugh class A patients (Group II).

Identification of Chrysanthemum Genetic Resources Resistant to White Rust Caused by Puccinia horiana

This experiment was carried out to identify genetic resources of chrysanthemum wild species and commercial cultivars that are resistant to white rust disease caused by Puccinia horiana. A total of 190 chrysanthemum accessions, composed of 11 accessions belonging to six wild species and 179 commercial cultivars, were screened for resistance to P. horiana isolates collected from Muan and Jeonju, the main production area of chrysanthemum in Korea. A total of 41 spray cultivars and three wild species (Chrysanthemum boreale, C. yoshinaganthum, and C. zawadskii) were identified as resistant. Nine standard and 28 spray cultivars with poorly developed chlorotic lesions and pustules on the leaves were moderate resistant. The remaining 18 standard, 83 spray cultivars and three wild species (Aster spathulifolius, C. indicum, and C. pacificum) were highly susceptible. The use of resistant cultivars is one of the most efficient approaches for overcoming white rust disease in chrysanthemum cultivation. Therefore, these genetic resources can be used in crossbreeding programs for developing white rust resistant chrysanthemum cultivars.
