        영화 〈찰스 디킨스의 비밀 서재〉는 찰스 디킨스가 『크리스마스 캐럴』을 쓰는 동안 겪는 내면의 변화를 그리고 있다. 『크리스마스 캐럴』은 도시 빈민이 늘어나고 크리스마스 전통이 잊혀 가던 빅토리아 시대에 쓰인 책이다. 찰스 디킨스의 이 책은 사람들에게 가족과 이웃을 생각하는 마음의 소중함을 불어넣었고 흩어졌던 가족이 모여 함께 식사를 하는 오늘날의 크리스마스 풍경을 만들었다. 본 논문은 분석심리학적 관점에서 영화 〈찰스 디킨스의 비밀 서재〉를 분석하여 영화의 주인공 찰스의 개인적 삶의 위기와 그림자 인식 과정을 다루었다. 또한 찰스 디킨스의 전기와 시대적 배경을 참조하여 자본주의 사회의 집단적 문제가 찰스 개인의 삶에서 어떤 방식으로 작용하는지 살펴보았다. 크리스마스는 죽음과 재탄생의 상징적 의미를 가지고 있으며 영화는 크리스마스를 통해 찰스가 자신의 마음 속 어둠을 인식하고 새로운 인격으로 탄생하는 과정을 보여준다. 오늘날의 사람들에게도 크리스마스는 여전히 시대를 초월한 보편적인 상징으로 작용하고 있다. This article is about the film titled < The Man Who Invented Christmas > written from the perspective of analytical psychology. The film shows the changes in Charles Dickens while he wrote the book 『A Christmas Carol』. 『A Christmas Carol』 was published when the Christmas traditions were almost forgotten. The book enlightened the value of love-thy-neighbor and revived the tradition of having Christmas meals with family. The article illustrates the process of recognizing shadow while a man overcomes the life crisis of losing his persona. Referring to the biography of Charles Dickens and the historical background of his time, the article explores how the collective issues of capitalism influence his personal life. Christmas is a timeless symbol of death and rebirth then becomes a solace for those who suffer from capitalism.

      • Acupuncture for spinal cord injury survivors in Chinese literature: A systematic review

        <P><B>Summary</B></P><P><B>Objective(s)</B></P><P>To systematically review Chinese literature on the effectiveness of acupuncture for treating patients with spinal cord injury (SCI).</P><P><B>Data sources</B></P><P>The Chinese electronic databases (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) were searched from their inceptions to May 2008.</P><P><B>Study selection</B></P><P>Trials reporting randomized controlled trials (RCTs) where patients with SCI (with or without operation) were treated with acupuncture including electroacupuncture.</P><P><B>Data extraction</B></P><P>Methodological quality was assessed with the PEDro scale. Discrepancies were resolved through discussions and arbitration by two co-authors.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>: The searches identified 236 potentially relevant studies, of which 7 RCTs met the inclusion criteria. Five studies assessed functional recovery, and two bladder dysfunction. All the studies reported favourable effects of acupuncture on functional recovery or urinary function; however methodological quality of studies is poor in general. Meanwhile, pooled analysis of two trials assessing bladder dysfunction showed positive effectiveness compared with conventional treatment (<I>n=</I>128, RR 1.51 [1.21, 1.90], <I>P</I>=0.0004, heterogeneity Tau<SUP>2</SUP><0.01, Chi<SUP>2</SUP>=0.01, <I>P</I>=0.94, <I>I</I><SUP>2</SUP>=0%).</P><P><B>Conclusion(s)</B></P><P>Based on 7 RCTs done in China, the effectiveness of acupuncture for functional recovery and bladder dysfunction in SCI is suggestive. With the methodological quality of the included studies on functional recovery and the small number of studies on bladder dysfunction taken into consideration, further rigorous studies prove needed.</P>

        DNA Methylation Regulates the Differential Expression of CX3CR1 on Human IL-7Rα<sup>low</sup> and IL-7Rα<sup>high</sup> Effector Memory CD8<sup>+</sup> T Cells with Distinct Migratory Capacities to the Fractalkine

        <P>DNA methylation is an epigenetic mechanism that modulates gene expression in mammalian cells including T cells. Memory T cells are heterogeneous populations. Human effector memory (EM) CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells in peripheral blood contain two cell subsets with distinct traits that express low and high levels of the IL-7Rα. However, epigenetic mechanisms involved in defining such cellular traits are largely unknown. In this study, we use genome-wide DNA methylation and individual gene expression to show the possible role of DNA methylation in conferring distinct traits of chemotaxis and inflammatory responses in human IL-7Rα<SUP>low</SUP> and IL-7Rα<SUP>high</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells. In particular, IL-7Rα<SUP>low</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells had increased expression of CX3CR1 along with decreased DNA methylation in the <I>CX3CR1</I> gene promoter compared with IL-7Rα<SUP>high</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells. Altering the DNA methylation status of the <I>CX3CR1</I> gene promoter changed its activity and gene expression. IL-7Rα<SUP>low</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells had an increased migratory capacity to the CX3CR1 ligand fractalkine compared with IL-7Rα<SUP>high</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells, suggesting an important biological outcome of the differential expression of CX3CR1. Moreover, IL-7Rα<SUP>low</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells induced fractalkine expression on endothelial cells by producing IFN-γ and TNF-α, forming an autocrine amplification loop. Overall, our study shows the role of DNA methylation in generating unique cellular traits in human IL-7Rα<SUP>low</SUP> and IL-7Rα<SUP>high</SUP> EM CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells, including differential expression of CX3CR1, as well as potential biological implications of this differential expression.</P>

        교사 대상 폭력과 정신건강문제의 관계에서 자아탄력성과 대처방식의 조절효과

        The purpose of this study was to expose the reality of violence against teachers by students and the consequent damage to teachers’ mental health, and to investigate moderating factors(ego-resiliency and coping strategies) that mitigate the negative influence of violence on mental health. The subjects were 585 middle school teachers and data from 494 of them were analyzed. As a result, first, 307 out of 494 teachers (62.1%) reported that they had been victims of violence by students within one year. Teachers’ violent experiences were identified as influencing their mental health problems. In particular, teachers’ ego-resiliency, active coping and passive coping were found to show significant moderating effects on the relationship between violence against teachers and mental health. The findings suggest that teachers’ violent experiences negatively affect their mental health, however increasing ego-resiliency and effective coping strategies could mitigate the negative influence on teacher’s mental health as protective factors. Implications for effective interventions to protect teacher's mental health from violence are discussed based on the results.

        금호강 수질특성 및 유량확보에 따른 수질개선 효과 분석

        하천의 관리를 위하여 수질오염총량 및 물환경기본계획을 수립하여 목표수질을 설정하고 있으며 금호강의 경우 T-P는 목표수질을 달성하고 있으나 BOD, COD, TOC의 경우 지난 5년간 물환경기본계획 목표수질을 초과하였다. 이에 금호강을 대상으로 BOD, COD, TOC를 이용하여 유달부하량 및 유달부하밀도, 오염기여율을 분석하고 수질오염총량관리에서 사용하고 있는 1차원 수질모델인 QUAL-MEV를 활용하여 목표수질 만족을 위한 필요유량을 모의하였다. 유달부하량을 분석한 결과 금호C 지점에서 BOD, COD, TOC 모두 9,832.2 kg/day, 20,656.6 kg/day, 15,545.1 kg/day로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 유달부하밀도는 강우기 및 비강우기에 달서천에서 9.47 kg/day/㎢, 37.55 kg/day/㎢, 30.20 kg/day/㎢ 과 17.19 kg/day/㎢, 47.59 kg/day/㎢, 39.14 kg/day/㎢로 가장 높게 나타났다. 오염기여율은 강우기에 팔거천이 약 25%, 비강우기에 달서천이 모든 항목에서 약 50%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 또한 금호강 본류 및 지류 유기물질간의 상관관계 분석을 수행한 결과 비강우기, 강우기 모두 COD-TOC가 0.8 이상으로 BOD-COD, BOD-TOC보다 상관관계가 높게 나타났다. 그리고 금호C 지점에서 수질오염총량 및 물환경기본계획 목표수질을 만족하기 위한 유량을 조사한 결과 2019년 4월(3.46 m<sup>3</sup>/sec)을 기준으로 약 14배, 22배의 추가유량이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. For the management of rivers, the target water quality is set by establishing the total amount of water pollution and water environment basic plan. For Geumho river T-P has achieved the target water quality, but for BOD, COD, TOC the target water quality of the water environment basic plan has been exceed for the past five years. Therefore, the flow rate for satisfying the target water quality was simulated by analyzing the load, load density, and pollution contribution rate of the Geumho river using BOD, COD, TOC and by utilizing QUAL-MEV a one-dimensional water quality model. According to the analysis of the load, the BOD, COD and TOC all showed the highest levels at the Geumho C point at 9,832.2 kg/day 20,656.6 kg/day, and 15,545.1 kg/day. The load density was highest at 9.47 kg/day/㎢, 37.55 kg/day/㎢, 30.20 kg/day/㎢, and 17.19 kg/day/ ㎢, 39.14 kg/day/㎢ in Dalseocheon stream during the wet seasons and dry seasons. Pollution contribution rate was highest at about 25 percent for Palgeocheon stream during the wet season and about 50 percent for Dalseocheon stream during the dry season. In addition, the correlation analysis between organic materials showed in the main stream and tributaty of the Geumho river that COD-TOC was 0.8 or higher than BOD-COD and BOD-TOC in both the wet seasons and dry seasons. And after surveying the total amount of water pollution and the target quality of the water environment basic plan at Geumho C, it was analyzed that an additional flow tate of 14 times and 22 times was needed as of April 2019 (3.46 m<sup>3</sup>/sec).

      • Highly dispersed and CO<sub>ad</sub>-tolerant Pt<sub>shell</sub>-Pd<sub>core</sub> catalyst for ethanol oxidation reaction: Catalytic activity and long-term durability

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Highly dispersed Pt<SUB>shell</SUB>-Pd<SUB>core</SUB> catalyst is synthesized via an electroless deposition and a galvanic displacement. From electrochemical analysis, the catalyst is confirmed to be active toward an ethanol oxidation reaction for a prolonged time, and is more resistive against CO<SUB>ad</SUB>-poisoning than a conventional Pt/C catalyst. The stable activity of Pt<SUB>shell</SUB>-Pd<SUB>core</SUB>/C is ascribed to the modified electronic property of Pt over-layer, which leads to a weak CO-adsorption strength with a high affinity for OH. The weakened binding property of surface Pt with CO<SUB>ad</SUB> was experimentally confirmed by conducting a CO<SUB>ad</SUB>-stripping and by measuring an electrochemically active surface area of the catalyst over multiple cycles. The CO<SUB>ad</SUB> oxidation ability of as-synthesized catalyst is further proved by a computational method via density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The result presents a potential application of the catalyst for the efficient ethanol oxidation in a direct ethanol fuel cell.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Pt<SUB>shell</SUB>-Pd<SUB>core</SUB>/C catalyst was synthesized by electroless deposition and displacement. </LI> <LI> The catalyst is more active in ethanol oxidation reaction than commercial Pt catalyst. </LI> <LI> The catalyst showed moderate CO<SUB>ad</SUB>-tolerance and long-term durability. </LI> <LI> The stable activity was ascribed to the modified electronic property of the catalyst. </LI> <LI> The higher CO oxidation capacity was supported by density functional theory. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>A Pt<SUB>shell</SUB>-Pd<SUB>core</SUB>/C catalyst was electrochemically synthesized, and exhibited higher catalytic activity with CO<SUB>ad</SUB>-tolerance toward ethanol oxidation at prolonged time.
