Flow-Structure Interaction Analysis of Elastic Blood Vessel with Stenosis

luid-structural interaction (FSI) analyses for a blood vessel model with stenosis have been conducted to investigate the flow characteristics and vessel deformation in detail. Asymmetric blood vessels with 70% stenosis and 50% eccentricity are considered to simulate the blood flow along the artery. It is shown that shear stress and pressure distribution are high gradient values due to artery occlusion. Stenosis also causes the complex flow pattern in downstream area. The results reveal that advanced FSI analysis is essentially needed to accurately simulate blood flows through a stenotic vessel.
