Bending Creep of Glulam and Bolted Glulam under Changing Relative Humidity

This study was carried out in order to evaluate the bending creep deflection of glulams and bolted glulams beam-to-beam connection with steel-gusset plates and bolts under changing relative humidity. The two types of glulam beams (130 mm in width, 175 mm in thickness, and 3000 mm in length) used in this study were made from domestic larch and composed of seven layers. The gussets were made of 8-mm-thick steel plates. Creep testing was conducted under constant loads in an uncontrolled environment. The test was carried out in a room that was well ventilated through a window. The creep test specimens were loaded for 33,000 hours. A bending creep test for the glulams was conducted through four-point loading. The applied stresses were 20% and 30% of the MOR in the static bending test for the glulam and bolted glulam, respectively. After 33,000 hours, the creep deflection of the glulam at a 20% stress level increased by 39% to 99%, while the creep deflection of the glulam at a 30% stress level increased by 27% to 67%, as compared with instantaneous elastic deflection. The relative creep increased during autumn and winter, and recovered during spring and summer. The relative creep of the bolted glulams was changed abruptly by loading up to 5,000 hours, but stabilized after 5,000 hours, and then gradually increased until 33,000 hours. The relative creep of the bolted glulam increased 2.11 times on average after 33,000 hours.

Primary malignant lymphoma of the thyroid is a relatively rare malignant tumor of the' thyroid gland. It is known to be frequently associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In Korea, 8 cases of primary lymphoma of the thyroid have been reported. All patients were over 64 years of age and the size of masses was over 5cm. A 23-year-old woman complained of diffuse goiter. High resolutional ultrasonography revealed 0.6×0.3×0.7cm sized focal low echoic lesion at the deep portion of the left lobe and 0.9×0.5×0.8cm sized focal low echoic lesion at the mid-portion of the right lobe of the thyroid gland. We performed ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration on the both nodules. The cytologic finding of the nodule in the right lobe suggests malignant nodule and that of the left lobe showed Hashimoto' s thyroiditis. Near total thyroidectomy was performed and confirmed a tumor of low-grade mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue which size was 0.8cm. She was treated with combination chemotheraphy (cyclophosphamide, oncovin, epirubicin, methylprednisolone and bleomycin). We report this case with a review of literatures.
2D Human Pose Estimation based on Object Detection using RGB-D information

In recent years, video surveillance research has been able to recognize various behaviors of pedestrians and analyze the overall situation of objects by combining image analysis technology and deep learning method. Human Activity Recognition (HAR), which is important issue in video surveillance research, is a field to detect abnormal behavior of pedestrians in CCTV environment. In order to recognize human behavior, it is necessary to detect the human in the image and to estimate the pose from the detected human. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for 2D Human Pose Estimation based on object detection using RGB-D information. By adding depth information to the RGB information that has some limitation in detecting object due to lack of topological information, we can improve the detecting accuracy. Subsequently, the rescaled region of the detected object is applied to ConVol.utional Pose Machines (CPM) which is a sequential prediction structure based on ConVol.utional Neural Network. We utilize CPM to generate belief maps to predict the positions of keypoint representing human body parts and to estimate human pose by detecting 14 key body points. From the experimental results, we can prove that the proposed method detects target objects robustly in occlusion. It is also possible to perform 2D human pose estimation by providing an accurately detected region as an input of the CPM. As for the future work, we will estimate the 3D human pose by mapping the 2D coordinate information on the body part onto the 3D space. Consequently, we can provide useful human behavior information in the research of HAR.

본 연구에서는 영상의 잡음 제거에 우수한 평균화 필터 알고리즘을 SIMD(Single Instruction Multiple Data) 명령어를 이용하여 고속화 하였다. 먼저 순차 알고리즘의 속도 향상을 위한 최적화를 수행하고. SIMD에 적합 하도록 변환 하여 4 또는 16 개의 데이터를 동시에 연산이 가능 하도록 하였다. 또한 나누기 연산을 줄이기 위하여 8비트의 데이터 타입과 함께 룩업 테이블(Lookup Table)을 이용하였다. 각각의 데이터 타임에 적합하게 알고리즘을 변환하여 비교하였고 실험을 통하여 기존의 순차 처리 방식에 비해 평균적으로 2.5배 이상의 속도 향상을 보았다.

This paper presents a subsequent research work on the roller design of IRB(isolation roller bearing) seismic isolation device presented in Part 1 by focusing on heat treatment. The hardness and friction factor are very important factors of material and after-treatment process selection. Normally, roller bearing consists of roller and retainer. The roller gets high pressure constantly, while the retainer gets tensile and compressive stress. Therefore, sensitive material selection and heat treatment of each part is quite important. In this experimental evaluation, carbon steel, chrome special steel and others are employed and their characteristics after heat treatment are identified. Each material is prepared by refining high frequency heat treatment. The friction factor and static load capacity of manufactured material are experimentally identified and destructive test of material is processed. Optimal material and heat treatment conditions for IRB roller bearing are determined based on experiment results.
