Objectives: The objective of this study was to characterize mental health issues among Vietnamese healthcare workers (HCWs) and to identify related factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 990 HCWs in 2021. Their mental health status was measured using the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale. Results: In total, 49.9%, 52.3%, and 29.8% of respondents were found to have depression, anxiety, and stress, respectively. The multivariable linear regression model revealed that factors associated with increased anxiety scores included depression scores (β, 0.45; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.39 to 0.51) and stress scores (β, 0.46; 95% CI, 0.41 to 0.52). Factors associated with increased depression scores included being frontline HCWs (β, 0.57; 95% CI, 0.10 to 1.10), stress scores (β, 0.50; 95% CI, 0.45 to 0.56), and anxiety scores (β, 0.41; 95% CI, 0.36 to 0.47), while working experience was associated with reduced depression scores (β, -0.08; 95% CI, -0.16 to -0.01). Factors associated with increased stress scores included working experience (β, 0.08; 95% CI, 0.00 to 0.16), personal protective equipment interference with daily activities (β, 0.55; 95% CI, 0.07 to 1.00), depression scores (β, 0.54; 95% CI, 0.48 to 0.59), and anxiety scores (β, 0.45; 95% CI, 0.39 to 0.50), while age was associated with reduced stress scores (β, -0.12; 95% CI, -0.20 to -0.05).Conclusions: Specific interventions are necessary to enhance and promote the mental health of HCWs so they can successfully cope with the circumstances of the pandemic.

      • A 2-Kb One-Time Programmable Memory for UHF Passive RFID Tag IC in a Standard 0.18 <tex> $\mu$</tex>m CMOS Process

Ngoc Dang Phan,Ik Joon Chang,Jong-Wook Lee IEEE 2013 IEEE transactions on circuits and systems. a publi Vol.60 No.7

<P>We present a 2-Kb one-time programmable (OTP) memory for UHF RFID applications. The OTP memory cell is based on a two-transistor (2-T) gate-oxide anti-fuse (AF) for low voltage operation. Reliability of memory cell is enhanced by limiting the maximum terminal voltages of thin-oxide and thick-oxide transistors to 1.8 V and 3.3 V, respectively. Improved low power circuit design techniques are used including auto shut-off for program mode and self-timed control for read mode. To further reduce power consumption, we develop a novel power-efficient charge pump. The designed OTP is successfully embedded into a UHF passive RFID tag IC that conforms to the EPCglobal Gen-2 standard. The tag chip was fabricated in a 0.18 m 1-poly 6-metal standard CMOS process with no additional masks. The total area of the chip including the I/Os and bonding pads is 2.3 × 1.5 mm2 where the OTP memory area is only 0.43 × 0.31 mm2. Our tag IC measurement shows that the read and write currents of the OTP memory are 17 μA and 58 μA, respectively.</P>

HER2 Status and Its Heterogeneity in Gastric Carcinoma of Vietnamese Patient

Dang Anh Thu Phan,Vu Thien Nguyen,Thi Ngoc Ha Hua,Quoc Dat Ngo,Thi Phuong Thao Doan,Sao Trung Nguyen,Anh Tu Thai,Van Thanh Nguyen 대한병리학회 2017 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.51 No.4

Background: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is related to the pathogenesis and poor outcome of numerous types of carcinomas, including gastric carcinoma. Gastric cancer patients with HER2 positivity have become potential candidates for targeted therapy with trastuzumab. Methods: We investigated 208 gastric cancer specimens using immunohistochemistry (IHC), fluorescence in situ hybridization and dual in situ hybridization (ISH). We also investigated the concordance between IHC and ISH. The correlation between HER2 status and various clinicopathological findings was also investigated. Results: In total, 15.9% (33/208) and 24.5% (51/208) of gastric cancers showed HER2 gene amplification and protein overexpression, respectively. A high level of concordance between ISH and IHC analyses (91.3%, κ = 0.76) was found. A significant correlation between HER2 status and intestinal-type (p < .05) and differentiated carcinomas (p < .05) was also noted. The HER2 heterogeneity was high in gastric cancers; we found 68.8% phenotypic heterogeneity and 57.6% genotypic heterogeneity. Heterogeneity in HER2 protein expression and gene amplification showed a close association with diffuse histologic type and IHC 2+. Conclusions: HER2 protein overexpression and gene amplification were detected in 24.5% and 15.9% of gastric cancer specimens, respectively. Intestinal-type showed a higher level of HER2 protein overexpression and gene amplification than diffuse type. HER2 status also showed a significant relationship with well- and moderately-differentiated carcinomas. The ratio of phenotypic and genotypic heterogeneity of HER2 was high in gastric carcinomas and was associated with HER2 IHC 2+ and diffuse histologic type.

Critical Factors of Subcontractor Evaluation and Selection: A Case Study in Vietnam

VO, Khoa Dang,PHAM, Cuong Phu,PHAN, Phuong Thanh,VU, Ngoc Bich,DUONG, My Tien Ha,LE, Loan Phuc,NGUYEN, Quyen Le Hoang Thuy To Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.3

A contractor or a main contractor is a company with full capacity to construct all project's works for the owner. A subcontractor is an organization that works with the main contractor to execute and complete work packages for the project. Selecting an effective subcontractor will help the efficiency and success of any projects in the construction industry. Therefore, this study identified subcontractor evaluation factors in Vietnam by collecting questionnaire survey data from engineers and staffs in the construction industry project environment. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was then performed to identify the critical factors when evaluating and selecting the subcontractor in construction projects. Moreover, when considering the impact level in terms of the average value, the research results showed that the most critical concern was the subcontractor's reputation. Furthermore, the top five factors affecting the sub-contractor evaluation and selection are (i) reputation, (ii) price, (iii) construction techniques, (iv) ability to implement projects according to commitments, and (v) subcontractor competence (the team of workers, technician staff, engineers with full capacity according to regulations). These research results provide an overall perspective that will help main contractors develop suitable subcontractors' evaluation and selection factors in their projects in the construction industry.

      • A Fully Integrated EPC Gen-2 UHF-Band Passive Tag IC Using an Efficient Power Management Technique

        Jong-Wook Lee,Ngoc Dang Phan,Duong Huynh-Thai Vo,Vinh-Hao Duong IEEE 2014 IEEE transactions on industrial electronics Vol.61 No.6

<P>We present a system-on-chip passive tag integrated circuit (IC) for secure near-field RF identification applications. The design of the RF transceiver and the digital control of the tag IC are based on the EPCglobal ultrahigh-frequency Gen-2 protocol. A new design technique for the power management of the tag IC is presented, which includes a low-voltage bandgap, a low-dropout regulator with a bias-boosted gain stage, and an adaptive dc limiter. With the proposed design technique, we achieve a high power conversion efficiency of 47% at a low input power of -12 dBm. To support data security, we use one-time programmable (OTP) memory for nonvolatile data storage. The 4-kb (256 × 16 b) OTP memory array is based on a two-transistor (2-T) gate-oxide antifuse that can be programmed with a voltage of less than 6 V. The tag chip was fabricated in a 1-poly 6-metal standard 0.13- μm CMOS process. The power consumption levels of the tag IC are 29.2 and 71.2 μW for the read and programming modes, respectively. The size of the tag chip is 1.1×1 mm2.</P>

VU, Van Thi Thuy,PHAN, Nghia Trong,DANG, Hung Ngoc Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.2

The research objective of the paper is to clarify the factors influencing system risks of listed companies in Vietnam, with a focus on clarifying the relationship and quantifying the impacts of ownership structure on systemic risk of listed companies. The data used in this study included financial statements and stock price data of listed companies on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange and Hanoi Stock Exchange of Vietnam stock market in the period from 2010 to 2017. The paper used the method of estimation in establising the regression models to choose among three models: Random Effect Model, Fixed Effect Model or Pooled OLS for regression using Stata statistical software. The research results showed that state ownership and ownership by foreign investors were positively related to systemic risk, while ownership by domestic investors had a reverse relationship with systemic risk of listed companies in Vietnam. In addition, as a control variable, both company size and profitability had an effect on the systemic risk of listed companies in the research sample. Based on the research results, the authors interpreted some of the implications in order to minimize systemic risks in the operation of listed companies in Vietnam.

Molecular and Clinicopathological Features of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors in Vietnamese Patients

Quoc Dat Ngo,Quoc Thang Pham,Dang Anh Thu Phan,Anh Vu Hoang,Thi Ngoc Ha Hua,Sao Trung Nguyen 대한병리학회 2019 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.53 No.6

Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most frequent mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract. Management of GIST patients is currently based on clinicopathological features and associated genetic changes. However, the detailed characteristics and molecular genetic features of GISTs have not yet been described in the Vietnamese population. Methods: We first identified 155 patients with primary GIST who underwent surgery with primary curative intent between 2011 and 2014 at University Medical Center at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We evaluated the clinicopathological features and immunohistochemical reactivity to p53 and Ki-67 in these patients. Additionally, KIT genotyping was performed in 100 cases. Results: The largest proportion of GISTs was classified as high-risk (43.2%). Of the 155 GISTs, 52 (33.5%) were positive for Ki-67, and 58 (37.4%) were positive for p53. The expression of Ki-67 and p53 were correlated with mitotic rate, tumor size, risk assessment, and tumor stage. Out of 100 GIST cases, KIT mutation was found in 68%, of which 62 (91.2%) were found in exon 11, two (2.9%) in exon 9, and four (5.8%) in exon 17. No mutation in exon 13 was identified. Additionally, KIT mutations did not correlate with any clinicopathological features. Conclusions: The expression of Ki-67 and p53 were associated with high-risk tumors. Mutations in exon 11 were the most commonly found, followed by exon 17 and exon 9. Additionally, KIT mutation status was not correlated with any recognized clinicopathological features.

Assessment of Left Ventricular Function and Regional Wall Motion by 256-Slice Dual-Source Coronary CT Angiography: A Comparison With 2D Transthoracic Echocardiography

Le Thi Thuy Lien,Nguyen Khoi Viet,Hoang Van Hoa,Phung Bao Ngoc,Nguyen Ngoc Trang,Vu Thi Kim Thoa,Nguyen Cong Tien,Phan Anh Phuong,Pham Minh Thong,Vu Dang Luu 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2022 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.6 No.2

Objective: To compare left ventricular (LV) function, ejection fraction (EF), end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), and regional wall motion analyzed in 256-slice dualsource coronary CT angiography (DSCT) with 2D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Materials and Methods: One hundred twelve patients suspected of coronary artery disease underwent DSCT and 2D-TTE within one week for LVEF, EDV, and ESV. The correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE measurements was analyzed through linear regression and Bland- Altman analysis. Regional wall motion was visually scored with a 3-point scale (1, normal; 2, hypokinesia; 3, dysphagia, akinesia). Results: Average LVEF at 66.45%±1.27% (range 23%–85%) as determined on DSCT compared with 66.09%±1.01% (range 25%–84%) on 2D-TTE. LVEF exhibited a good correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE (r=0.715; p<0.001). Good correlations between DSCT and 2D-TTE were demonstrated for LVEDV (r=0.732; p<0.001) and LVESV (r=0.841; p<0.001). Mean differences (±SD) of 1.78±24.10 mL (p<0.05) and 0.77±13.70 mL (p<0.05) were observed between DSCT and 2D-TTE for LVEDV and LVESV, respectively. LVEF was slightly overestimated with DSCT (0.52%±9.59%; p<0.05). Although the LVEF values calculated by DSCT and 2D-TTE were similar, EDV and ESV from DSCT were statistically higher than those from 2D-TTE (p<0.05). Agreement between DSCT and 2D-TTE in regional wall motion was 96.4%, κ=0.840. Conclusion: DSCT can provide comparable results to those using 2D-TTE for LV function (EF, EDV, and ESV) and regional wall motion assessment in a heterogeneous population.

Dat Quoc Ngo,Si Tri Le,Khanh Hoang Phuong Phan,Thao Thi Phuong Doan,Linh Ngoc Khanh Nguyen,Minh Hoang Dang,Thien Thanh Ly,Thu Dang Anh Phan 대한병리학회 2024 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.58 No.4

Background: The identification of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) requires a comprehensive analysis involving clinical manifestations and histological findings. This study aims to provide insights into the histopathological and immunohistochemical aspects of IIMs. Methods: This retrospective case series involved 56 patients diagnosed with IIMs at the Department of Pathology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, from 2019 to 2023. The histology and immunohistochemical expression of HLA-ABC, HLA-DR, C5b-9, Mx1/2/3, and p62 were detected. Results: We examined six categories of inflammatory myopathy, including immunemediated necrotizing myopathy (58.9%), dermatomyositis (DM; 23.2%), overlap myositis (8.9%), antisynthetase syndrome (5.4%), inclusion body myositis (IBM; 1.8%), and polymyositis (1.8%). The average age of the patients was 49.7 ± 16.1 years, with a female-to-male ratio of 3:1. Inflammatory cell infiltration in the endomysium was present in 62.5% of cases, perifascicular atrophy was found in 17.8%, and fiber necrosis was observed in 42 cases (75.0%). Rimmed vacuoles were present in 100% of cases in the IBM group. Immunohistochemistry showed the following positivity rates: HLA-ABC (89.2%), HLA-DR (19.6%), C5b-9 (57.1%), and Mx1/2/3 (10.7%). Mx1/2/3 expression was high in DM cases. p62 vacuole deposits were noted in the IBM case. The combination of membrane attack complex and major histocompatibility complex I helped detect IIMs in 96% of cases. Conclusions: The diagnosis of IIMs and their subtypes should be based on clinical features and histopathological characteristics. Immunohistochemistry plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and differentiation of these subgroups.
