      • Pakistan’s Water Security Issue & Impacts of Floods

Mir Sher Baz Khetran(Mir Sher Baz Khetran ) 아시아사회과학학회 2023 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.10 No.1

Water security is a crucial issue for Pakistan due to its heavy dependence on agriculture and limited water resources. The country has been facing multiple challenges in managing its water resources, including population growth, climate change, and water pollution. Among these challenges, floods pose a significant threat to Pakistan's water security, as they not only cause significant damage to infrastructure but also have long-term impacts on water availability and quality. This paper examines the impacts of floods on Pakistan's water security and highlights the key factors that contribute to the country's vulnerability to flooding. The paper reviews the existing literature on Pakistan's water resources and flood management strategies and identifies gaps in knowledge and policy. It also analyzes the socioeconomic impacts of floods on the local communities and the wider economy, emphasizing the role of water security in achieving sustainable development. The findings of this study suggest that Pakistan needs to adopt a holistic approach to water management that takes into account the complex interplay of factors that affect water security. This approach should involve the development of sustainable water use practices, the promotion of water conservation, and the implementation of effective flood management strategies. The study concludes that addressing Pakistan's water security challenges requires a coordinated effort by the government, civil society, and private sector, and calls for the development of a national water policy that prioritizes water security and sustainability.

      • Pakistan-Central Asia Connectivity: Role of Railways

Mir Sher Baz Khetran,Mian Ahmad N. Salik,Mahrukh Khan,Muhammad Taimur Khan 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.5 No.2

Prosperity and progress require shared inter regional and intra-regional collaboration, utilizing resources at their maximum and exploring new avenues for transit and trade. Being part of a landlocked but resource-rich region, Central Asian states require improved access to regional markets including Pakistan, China, India and the countries of West Asia. And countries like Pakistan also need to boost trade with Central Asia. As a result of this possible mutual collaboration and economic benefits, railways can constitute a strategic opportunity for Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to transport their goods and market them more competitively on the regional and global market, while also benefiting other countries through CPEC. Uzbekistan s Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiev paid a two day visit to Pakistan on 27th of May and met with Prime Minister Imran Khan and briefed him on the transport railway corridor Uzbekistan-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar. Uzbekistan shared with Pakistan its plan for an international railway route connecting the two countries via Afghanistan.

Mir Sher Baz Khetran,Saad Bin Zafar Sraw,Mohammad Anjum Saeed 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.3 No.1

Since US President Donald Trump took charge of White House in 2017, his government termed China as revisionist power and started a Trade war with China that worsened already ongoing geopolitical rivalry between two global giants. It also challenged the established norms of international relations on many fronts by reshaping geopolitical alliances. Trump imposed tariffs and other trade barriers on China with the goal of forcing it to make changes to what the U. S. states unfair trade practices , disrupted a longstanding bipartisan consensus on U. S. policy towards China. The U. S always has had a relation with China based on its own interests. Biden during his tenure as a vice president advocated engagement with Beijing but he criticised the paradigm shift in dealing with China during Trump reign and also objected to 2020 January s trade deal with President Xi Jinping as hollow .

      • The U.S. war crimes in Afghanistan

Dost Muhammad Barrech,Mir Sher Baz Khetran 아시아사회과학학회 2022 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.7 No.3

The incident of 9/11, by and large, brought great changes in international politics. The US-led War on Terror (WOT) against the culprits involved in the 9/11 incidents caused irreparable damage to Afghanistan. Surprisingly, none of the perpetrators involved in 9/11 belonged to Afghanistan nor did the attacker Al-Qaeda have any genesis with the people of Afghanistan. The price Afghanistan paid in WOT is unimaginable that can never be compensated. Over the last two decades, the US-led war witnessed colossal war crimes of the people of Afghanistan. The country saw growing war crimes committed by the U.S. forces in the shape of the killing of innocent civilians, women rapes, abductions of innocent people, massacring of masses by drone strikes. The invasion of Afghanistan according to many experts was a geo-strategic move of the US in a bid to accelerate its presence in the region and to counter growing Chinese and Russian influence, keeping closed eyes on Pakistan nuclear assets. Having squandered twenty years, the US neither eliminated terrorism nor Taliban. Instead, Washington inked Doha agreement with the hardcore Taliban who are unfit and inexperienced to rule the country are expected to be espousing the U.S. trajectory in committing further war crimes. This paper, thus, will examine the US war crimes in war-torn Afghanistan in the last two decades.

      • US-China Strategic Competition: Implications for International Order

Saad Bin Zaffar Sraw,Mir Sher Baz Khetran 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.4 No.2

The paper attempts to identify the key areas where a strategic competition is being played out between US and China and its possible implications for overall regional and global order. It includes a broad based probe into the nuances of ramifications that this fundamental competition, which some chose to name as conflict, shall entail. Not only will it have political consequences, but will help change the overall strategic complexion and economic superstructure of the world besides altering the rules based international order beyond recognition. It is one of the most important and significant geo-strategic, geo-political and geo-economic moment of the century and we all stand at the cusp of a massive change for which we are neither ready nor prepared. The objective of the study is to investigate nature of the competition, changes it has brought to the threat spectrum, articulation of possible responses by states involved in it and ways in which it will transform the world that we see today.
