        Intracellular Polysaccharide and its Antioxidant Activity by Pleurotus citrinopileatus SM-01

        The extraction parameters of intracellular polysaccharide (IPS) from Pleurotus citrinopileatus SM-01mycelia were optimized, and the in vitro and in vivo antioxidant activities of IPS were investigated. The optimum conditions of IPS extraction were predicted to be an ultrasonic treatment time of 664.09 s, precipitation time of 23.03h and pH 7.36, and IPS yield was estimated at 16.13%. The in vitro inhibition effects of IPS at a dosage of 5 g/L on the superoxide anion, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydroxyl radicals were 73.96±4.62%, 69.2±4.37%,and 50.75±4.39%, respectively, which were 72.56±5.08%, 22.83±1.94%, and 43.93±3.26% higher than that of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), respectively. The reducing power of IPS was 0.9±0.07, 69.81±5.24% higher than that of BHT. The activities of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in mice blood were 241.38±23.19, 454.95±42.39, 60.32±5.16, and 32.39±2.54 U/mL,respectively, and the malonaldehyde (MDA) level was 9.54±0.72 nmol/mL. The results provided a reference for the large-scale extraction of IPS by P. citrinopileatus SM-01 in industrial fermentation, suggesting that the IPS can be used as a potential antioxidant, which enhances adaptive immune responses.

        Local and global existence and blow-up of solutions to a polytropic filtration system with nonlinear memory and nonlinear boundary conditions

        This paper deals with the behavior of positive solutions to the following nonlocal polytropic filtration system ( ut=(|(um1 )x|p1−1(um1 )x)x+ul11 R a 0 vl12 (, t)d,(x, t) in [0, a]×(0, T), vt=(|(vm2 )x|p2−1(vm2 )x)x+vl22 R a 0 ul21 (, t)d,(x, t) in [0, a]×(0, T) with nonlinear boundary conditions ux|x=0 = 0, ux|x=a = uq11 vq12 |x=a, vx|x=0 = 0, vx|x=a = uq21 vq22 |x=a and the initial data (u0, v0), where m1,m2 1, p1, p2 > 1, l11, l12, l21, l22, q11, q12, q21, q22 > 0. Under appropriate hypotheses, the authors establish local theory of the solu- tions by a regularization method and prove that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by using a comparison principle.

        <P>Brassica napus (AACC genome) is an important oilseed crop that was formed by the fusion of the diploids B. rapa (AA) and B. oleracea (CC). The complete genomic sequence of the Brassica A genome will be available soon from the B. rapa genome sequencing project, but it is not clear how informative the A genome sequence in B. rapa (A(r)) will be for predicting the structure and function of the A subgenome in the allotetraploid Brassica species B. napus (A(n)). In this paper, we report the results of structural and functional comparative mapping between the A subgenomes of B. napus and B. rapa based on genetic maps that were anchored with bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs)-sequence of B. rapa. We identified segmental conservation that represented by syntenic blocks in over one third of the A genome; meanwhile, comparative mapping of quantitative trait loci for seed quality traits identified a dozen homologous regions with conserved function in the A genome of the two species. However, several genomic rearrangement events, such as inversions, intra- and inter-chromosomal translocations, were also observed, covering totally at least 5% of the A genome, between allotetraploid B. napus and diploid B. rapa. Based on these results, the A genomes of B. rapa and B. napus are mostly functionally conserved, but caution will be necessary in applying the full sequence data from B. rapa to the B. napus as a result of genomic rearrangements in the A genome between the two species.</P>
