        충격 입자 분포 탐지기를 이용한 침식도 추정

        강우는 토양 침식을 일으키는 가장 능동적인 힘 중 하나이다. 다양한 속도와 운동에너지를 가지고 낙하하는 우적은 토양에 충격을 주는 침식력으로 작용한다. 우적의 변동 속도와 운동에너지는 우적의 직경에 직접적으로 의존한다. 이 연구의 목적은 브라질 Alagoas주 Maceió 지역에서 강우에 의한 토양 침식을 산정 할 수 있는 알고리즘을 결정하는 것이다. 이를 위해 1분 간격의 강우 분포를 지속적으로 자동 측정하는 RD-69 디즈드로미터를 사용하여 2003년부터 2006년까지 침식성 강우 자료를 수집하였다. 독립 변수가 강수량인 지수 관계식과 독립 변수가 지속 시간과 최대 강도인 지수 관계식 형태로 최적화된 알고리즘이 결정되었다. Rainfall is one of the most active forces that cause soil erosion. The action of rain on the soil exerts an erosive power caused by the impact of the drops, which fall with variable speed and kinetic energy, depending directly on the diameter of the drop. The objective of this study is to determine algorithms capable of estimating rainfall erosivity for the region of Maceió-AL. For this purpose, erosion rains were collected between 2003 and 2006 using a RD-69 disdrometer, which continuously and automatically measures rainfall distribution in a range of 1 min. The determination of algorithms in the form of power equation to estimate was adjusted with one and two independent variables (amount of rainfall, duration and maximum intensity).

        충격 신호 분석에 기반한 침식 지수 개발

        이 연구는 브라질 북동부의 Maceió-Alagoas 지역에서 강우로 인한 토양의 침식 지수를 추정할 수 있는 알고리즘을 결정하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 2003년부터 2006년까지 10분 이상 지속된 680회의 강우 사례에서 수집한 분당 26,889개의 데이터 샘플은 우적 크기 분포에 따라 분류되었다. 종속 변수와 독립 변수로 구성된 방정식은 99%의 결정 계수로 침식지수를 추정한다. 최소 강우 강도와 침식도의 관계는 통계적 유의성으로 검증되었다. This study is aimed at determining an algorithm capable of estimating the erosion index of rainfall for the region of Maceió-Alagoas in the northeast of Brazil. The sample of the truncated data from 2003 to 2006 counts 26,889 droplet size distributions integrated per minute, with 680 rain events with duration longer than 10 minutes. The equation proposed to estimate erosion index used as a dependent variable and independent variable, presenting a coefficient of determination of 99%. The statistical significance validated the relation between minimum rainfall intensity and erosion.

        Visualization of Phytophthora palmivora Infection in Oil Palm Leaflets with Fluorescent Proteins and Cell Viability Markers

        Bud rot (BR) is the most devastating disease affecting oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) crops in Colombia. Its causal agent, Phytophthora palmivora, initiates the infection in immature oil palm leaflets producing necrotic lesions, followed by colonization of opportunistic necrotrophs, which increases disease damage. To improve the characterization of the disease, we transformed P. palmivora using Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation (ATMT) to include the fluorescent proteins CFPSKL (peroxisomal localization), eGFP and mRFP1 (cytoplasmic localization). The stability of some transformants was confirmed by Southern blot analysis and single zoospore cultures; additionally, virulence and in vitro growth were compared to the wild-type isolate to select transformants with the greatest resemblance to the WT isolate. GFP-tagged P. palmivora was useful to identify all of the infective structures that are commonly formed by hemibiotrophic oomycetes, including apoplastic colonization and haustorium formation. Finally, we detected cell death responses associated with immature oil palm tissues that showed reduced susceptibility to P. palmivora infection, indicating that these tissues could exhibit age-related resistance. The aim of this research is to improve the characterization of the initial disease stages and generate cell biology tools that may be useful for developing methodologies for early identification of oil palm materials resistant or susceptible to BR.

        Novel Sources of Resistance to Phytophthora capsici on Pepper (Capsicum sp.) Landraces from Mexico

        Phytophthora capsici Leonian is a major pathogen of pepper worldwide and few resistance sources to this pathogen have been identified so far. The goals of this study were to identify new sources of resistance against P. capsici in Capsicum landraces and analyze the relationship between the resistance indicator of plant symptoms and some plant phenotype parameters of plant height, stem width, leaf length and leaf width. Thirtytwo landraces of pepper were collected from fourteen states in Mexico. From each population, 36 plants were inoculated with 10,000 zoospores of P. capsici under controlled conditions. This experiment was repeated twice. Out of the 32 landraces, six showed high level of resistance, four showed intermediate resistance and five showed low level of resistance when compared with the susceptible control ‘Bravo’ and the resistant control ‘CM334’, indicating that these landraces are promising novel sources of resistance to P. capsici. There was no correlation between the symptoms and plant phenotype parameters. However, these parameters were not affected in the group classified as highly resistant, indicating that P. capsici does not affect the growing of these resistant pepper landraces. The other resistant groups were significantly affected in a differently manner regarding their phenotype, indicating that this pathogen reduce their growth in different ways. This study reports novel resistance sources with great potential that could be used in breeding programs to develop new pepper cultivars with durable resistance to P. capsici.
