The importance of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in human nutrition and disease prevention was demonstrated four decades ago. EPA and DHA are important PUFAs. Separation of EPA and DHA has been carried out under supercritical condition by using a silver ion modified molecular sieve 13X (MS13X). MS13X was modified by silver nitrate, and the modification reaction was optimized by stir model, the concentration of silver nitrate and temperature. It was found that the optimized reaction conditions are stirring with nitrogen bubbling, 0.1 mol/l silver nitrate and 20 8C in the dark. Results indicated that 1 g MS13X could be bound by 7.4 mg silver ion, namely 12.4% sodium of MS13X was exchanged. The modified MS13X (called SN13X) displays maximum adsorption capacity of EPA and DHA at 40 8C, with 37.4 mg/g and 24.2 mg/g, respectively. SN13X was packed in the column (20 cm 1 cm) under supercritical fluid apparatus, and adsorption, washing and elution of EPA and DHAwere carried out by gradient pressure. In this study, the purity of EPA and DHAwere enhanced to 88.4% and 84.3% from 20.4% and 12.7%, with recovery of 45.8% and 39.2%, respectively.

Machine learning‑based parameter identification method for wireless power transfer systems
Hao Zhang,Ping-an Tan,Xu Shangguan,Xulian Zhang,Huadong Liu 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.9
Parameter identification is an effective way to obtain uncertain parameters of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, which is essential to achieving robust control and efficiency improvement. The traditional method relies on the phase lock of the primary impedance angle or lengthy algorithm iterations, and the identification depends on a high sampling accuracy and is time-consuming. In this study, a flexible parameter identification method based on the fusion of a machine learning model and a circuit model is proposed. Taking the primary voltage and current as input characteristic factors, support vector regression (SVR) is used to establish a machine learning model for coupling coefficient identification. In addition, the optimal model parameters are sought based on the grid search method. On the basis of coupling coefficient identification, the circuit model is used to realize the identification of the load resistance. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed parameter identification method for a WPT system is verified by experimental results.

Iridoid glycosides (mainly geniposide) and crocetin derivatives (crocins) are the two major active constituents in Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. In the present study, geniposide, crocins, crocin-1 and crocetin were separated from gardenia chromatographically. Then, mice were orally administrated with geniposide (400 mg/kg b.w.), crocins (400 mg/kg b.w.), crocin-1 (400 mg/kg b.w.) and crocetin (140 mg/kg b.w.) once daily for 7 days with CCl4. Hepatoprotective properties were evaluated by biochemical parameters: Administration of geniposide, crocins, crocin-1and crocetin significantly lowered serum alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels in CCl4-treated mice. The reduced glutathione (GSH) levels and antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT) activities were also increased by geniposide, crocins, crocin-1 and crocetin. Histopathological examination of livers showed that these components reduced deformability, irregular arrangement and rupture of hepatocyte in CCl4-treated mice. These biochemical results and liver histopathological assessment demonstrated that geniposide, crocetin derivatives and crocetin show comparative beneficial effects on CCl4-induced liver damage via induction of antioxidant defense. Therefore, contents of geniposide and crocetin derivatives should be both considered for hepatoprotective efficacy of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis.

Background: With development and application of new and effective anti-cancer drugs, the median survival post-progression (SPP) is often prolonged, and the role of the median SPP on surrogacy performance should be considered. To evaluate the impact of the median SPP on the correlation between progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), we performed simulations for treatment of four types of cancer, advanced gastric cancer (AGC), metastatic colorectal cancer (MCC), glioblastoma (GBM), and advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (ANSCLC). Materials and Methods: The effects of the median SPP on the statistical properties of OS and the correlation between PFS and OS were assessed. Further, comparisons were made between the surrogacy performance based on real data from meta-analyses and simulation results with similar scenarios. Results: The probability of a significant gain in OS and HR for OS was decreased by an increase of the SPP/OS ratio or by a decrease of observed treatment benefit for PFS. Similarly, for each of the four types of cancer, the correlation between PFS and OS was reduced as the median SPP increased from 2 to 12 months. Except for ANSCLC, for which the median SPP was equal to the true value, the simulated correlation between PFS and OS was consistent with the values derived from meta-analyses for the other three kinds of cancer. Further, for these three types of cancer, when the median SPP was controlled at a designated level (i.e., < 4 months for AGC, < 12 months for MCC, and <6 months for GBM), the correlation between PFS and OS was strong; and the power of OS reached 34.9% at the minimum. Conclusions: PFS is an acceptable surrogate endpoint for OS under the condition of controlling SPPs for AGC, MCC, and GBM at their limit levels; a similar conclusion cannot be made for ANSCLC.

Purpose: G-protein coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER) probably play important roles in the progression of breast cancer including endocrine therapeutic resistance. We evaluated GPER in primary breast cancers. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect GPER in paraffin-embedded tissues of primary breast cancers from 423 patients and GPER expression was correlated with clinicopathological factors. Results: GPER was expressed in 63.8% of specimens, coexpressed with estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) in 36.6% of tumors and was positive in 62.5% of the ERα-negative tumors. The expression of GPER had no relationship with the status of ERα, progesterone receptor and HER2. Although the expression of GPER was significantly inversely related with nodal status (p=0.045), no correlation between GPER expression and other clinicopathological variables (age, menstruation status, tumor size, stage, histologic grade, Nottingham Prognostic Index or pathological type) was found. Conclusion: GPER and ERα exhibited independent expression pattern of distribution in primary breast cancers. A long-term follow-up and a more definite molecular phenotype for ER are necessary in confirming studies.

A new cyclopentanopyridine alkaloid, 3-hydroxy-5-methyl-5,6-dihydro-7H-cyclopenta[b]pyridin-7-one (1), together with 11 known aromatic compounds were isolated from the secondary metabolites of the halotolerant fungal strain Wallemia sebi PXP-89 in 10% NaCl. Their structures including the absolute configurations of (2S,3S)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)butane-2,3-diol (2), (2R,3S)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)butane-2,3-diol (3), and (S)-3-hydroxy-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-one (4) were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and a modified Mosher’s method. Compound 1 exhibited antimicrobial activity against Enterobacter aerogenes with a MIC of 76.7 μM. The absolute configurations of compounds 2-4 were determined for the first time.
Green and sustainable applications of energetic plasmon-activated water
Chih-Ping Yang,Shih-Hao Yu,Yu-Chuan Liu 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.111 No.-
This review describes the use of bulk deionized water (DIW) treatment to become plasmon-activatedwater (PAW) with reduced hydrogen bonds (HBs). PAW with special properties can be used in innovativeapplications and development of environmental protection science and sustainable energy management. PAW is a natural water solvent, but PAW subverts the public’s idea that hydrophobic solutes are difficultto dissolve in water. PAW can dissolve more-hydrophobic solutes than ordinary water, and can also interactwith water-soluble alcohol molecules to form stronger HBs. Moreover, in the application of certainreduction reactions, no chemical reducing agent is needed, and the catalytic reduction effect can beachieved using natural PAW. A characteristic application of PAW can also be extended to seawater desalination. Due to weak HBs among PAW molecules, high water evaporation rates can be produced, and ahigher chemical potential can also be applied to the innovative development of solar energy storage. In electrochemical applications, PAW itself can promote water oxidation, oxygen reduction reactions, hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions, and the efficient capacitor production of H2O2. Furthermore,PAW can delay the melting of sea ice in the habitat of polar bears, so it may be applied to the issue ofsaving polar bears.
Study of the Effect of Opacity on the Solar Coronal X-ray Mg XII 0.842 nm Spectral Lines
Xi-Ping Hao,Jian He,Huihui Liu 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.65 No.4
Using the intensity ratio of the solar coronal X-ray Mg XII 0.842 nm doublet observed by usingthe SPIRIT instrumentation, we discuss the optical depth at the line center of the Mg XII emissionlines. The optical depth at the line center of the (1/2 − 3/2) component that we calculated is 0.245. Using the measured abundance of magnesium and the results of ionization balance, we calculatethe variation of electron density with the measured distance to the corona and estimate the averageelectron density to be ne = 6.657 × 108 cm−3. Also we discuss the variation of the optical depth atthe line center with the coronal temperature. This study will be significant to solar coronal plasmadiagnostics.
