It were studied the effects of ammonium sulfate as additive, calcination temperature and amount of sulfuric acid for extraction of alumina from Sancheong white kaolin by wet acid process. DTA and XRD indicated that mixtures were decomposed completely at 550℃. Optimum condition for extraction of alumina were as follows. 1. 0.2-0.3 mole of ammonium sulfate to 1 mole of Al₂O₃in kaolin was suitable. 2. calcination temperature was 550℃. 3. 1%, 100cc of H₂SO₄was adaptable to l gr of kaolin. 4. Both α-and γ-Al₂O₃were obtainable. 5. Low-iron kaolin was adaptable to reduce contamination of Alumina from iron.

The relation between logarithmic value of the relative volatilities and liquid phase compositions in the binary methanol-methylethylketone systems with the variable pressure could be expressed as linear function. And the pressure variation does not change the slope of the linear relations. This study proposed the empirical equation which can be used to predict the vaporliquid equilibrium relationship of the methanol-methylethylketone system with the variable pressure. The calculated values are compared with the experimental data, and the calculated results agree well the experimental results.
ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma) 처리에 따른 n-type SiGe/Metal contact의 SBH(Schottky Barrier Height) 연구

The effect of surface treatment of n-type SiGe using the inductively coupled plasma (ICP) was studied by current-voltage and x-ray photoemission spectroscopy measurements. The ICP treatment produced surface oxides and point defects at the surface of SiGe. The x-ray photoemission spectroscopy measurements showed that atomic ratio of Ge/Si was increased after the etching treatment. These results provide the evidence that Si vacancies were produced at the etched surface. Si vacancies acting as donor for electrons resulted in shift of Fermi level to near the conduction band. As a result, Fermi level could be pinned at such Si vacancies, leading to the remarkable reduction of Schottky barrier height and the reduced dependence of Schottky barrier height on metal work function. Background and objectives: Many conditions are responsible for the pathophysiology and progressive mechanisms of congestive heart failure. More recently, it has also become evidence that another class of biologycally activated molecules generically reffered to as cytokine these are also over expressed in congestive heart failure. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to measure concentrations of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6(IL-6) in mild to severe symptoms of heart failure and compare their values with those found in normal control and analysed correlation relationship between cytokine level, clinical findings and hemodynamic indicies. Subjects and Methodology: Levels of TNF-α and IL-6 were measured on pulmonary artery during cardiac catheterization in heart failure patients(n=32) and normal subjects(n=8) as well as physical examination and echocardiogram. Cytokines assay were performed on plasma using commercially available ELISA(Enazyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kits. Results: Although the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 tend to increase in congestive heart failure group, the cytokines level was not made significantly statistical difference between congestive heart failure group and controls. When analyzing the correlation between the levels of PCWP(pulmonary capillary wedge pressure) and cytokines(TNF-α, IL-6), respectively, there were statistically significant correlation coefficient 0.32,(p<0.05), 0.39(p<0.01). The cytokine IL-6 and pressure of pulmonary artery were significant correlation.(correlation coefficient 0.36, p<0.02) More significantly, there was correlated with TNF-α and IL-6.(correlation coefficient 0.57, p<0.001) Conclusions: There was tended toward high concentration of TNF-α & IL-6 in congestive heart failure and significant difference for PCWP between TNF-α & IL-6, thus may be correlated with development and progression in congestive heart failure.
Medical Applications of 3D Printing and Standardization Issues

The three-dimensional (3D) printing itself is not a novel technology, it is more than 30 years old. Stereolithographic (SLA) technology has been used as the first and popular technology for medical application of 3D printing. Since 1991 Radiology and Plastic Surgery have published articles about SLA for rapid prototyping anatomical 3D models. Medical applications of 3D printing have been popularizing and stabilizing so far. Implantable medical devices such as metal or absorbable implants, surgical guide systems, prosthesis and orthosis, and 3D anatomical models for normal or diseased anatomy have been developing and expanding its markets so far. There are many obstacles, such as insurance, authorization as a medical device, and lack of standards technology for further expansion of medical applications. Many technical specifications and guidelines for authorization as medical device have been published by regulatory bodies from many countries. Even though international standards for 3D printing have been developing more and more, there have been few standards for medical application of 3D printing. In this harsh environment academia, company, research institute, regulatory bodies, and government have been doing good job for the development of 3D printing industry.

Quality of life is the current trend and issue for the most of human diseases. In moyamoya disease (MMD), surgical revascularization has been recognized as the possible assistance to reduce the neurological insult. However, the progressive nature of the disease has been invincible so far. To improve the quality of life of MMD patients not only the protection from the neurological insult but also the maintenance or improvement of cognitive function is inevitable. For pediatric MMD patients, younger age or longer duration of disease is the key factor among the prognostic factors for bad neurological outcomes. Hence, 'the earlier, the better' is the most precious rule for treatment. Protection from neurological insult is very critical and foremost important to improve cognitive outcome. Clinicians need to know the neuropsychological profile of MMD patients for the care of whole person and make an effort to protect the patients from neurological insults to maintain or improve it.
Predictive factors of preterm delivery in ultrasound-indicated cerclage

Objective: To identify which factors predict preterm delivery before 34 weeks of gestation following ultrasound-indicated cerclage(UIC) Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, 159 singleton pregnancies which underwent UIC at 12 to 25 weeks of gestation were included from 2010 to 2017. The main outcome measure was preterm delivery before 34 weeks of gestation. Possible predictive factors for preterm delivery including patient characteristics, obstetric history, cervical length measurement, and c-reactive protein (CRP) were analyzed. Results: Among the 159 pregnancies, 28 pregnancies delivered before 34 weeks of gestation. In univariable analyses, total cervical length after cerclage (OR 0.891, 95% CI 0.833 to 0.953), postoperative CRP (OR 0.907, 95% CI 0.281 to 2.927) showed a significant association with delivery before 34 weeks of gestation. In multivariable analyses, length under knot after cerclage (OR 0.882, 95% CI 0.788 to 0.987) and postoperative CRP (OR 0.869, 95% CI 0.8020 to 0.942) remained significant. Conclusion: Length under knot after cerclage and postoperative CRP were the strongest predictive factors of preterm delivery before 34 weeks of gestation in UIC.
