최근 한반도를 통과했던 태풍 중 그 규모가 커서 海上에서 발생된 颱風波浪에 의해 특히 남해안 지역에 큰 재해를 준 1986년 태풍 Vera(8613)호 통과시에 南海의 거문도와 거제도 海上에서 동시에 태풍파랑을 관측하였다. 관측된 태풍파랑의 재현을 위하여 유럽의 북해를 대상으로 최근 연구개발된 Hybrid Parametric Wave Model(HYPA)을 적용하여 Vera 통과시의 파랑분포를 수치적으로 계산하였으며, 그 계산결과를 관측치와 비교하였다. 또한 태풍파랑의 추정에 주로 사용되어온 Wilson모델의 결과와도 비교하여으며, HYPA모델의 결과가 Wilson모델에 비해 훨씬 관측된 파랑자료에 근접함을 보였다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해서 한반도 근해상에서 발생되는 태풍파랑의 예측과 추정에 있어 HYPA모델에 매우 정확함을 보여주었다. During the passage of Typhoon Vera(8613) which causes the heavy natural disasters, especially, on the southern coast of Korea, waves were simultaneously measured at two different locations of the South Sea, that is, near to the Geomun and the Geoje Islands. In order to reproduce the measured typhoen-waves, Hybrid Parameteric Wave Model(HYPA) which has been developed for the North Sea was adopted to calculate numerically the waves generated by the Typhoon Vera. The model results were jilter-compared with the measured waves, and also with the results of Wilson model which has been widely used for the hindcast of typhoon-waves. HYPA's results show in the closer ageement with the measured waves than those of Wilson's. Based on these comparisons, HYPA model can be used for more accurate forecast and hindcast of typhoon-waves in Korean Seas.

<P>We show that selenophene-substitution can be an efficient synthetic strategy toward high charge carrier mobility of isoindigo (IID)-based copolymers when their side chains are optimized. Structural features of archaeal β-phosphoglucomutase from hyperthermophilic Pyrococcus sp. ST04

β-Phosphoglucomutase (β-PGM) catalyzes the conversion of β-glucose-1-phosphate (β-G1P) to glucose-6-phosphate (G6P). Upon binding to the substrate, β-PGM adopts a conformational change of cap domain over the core domain with concomitant closure of the active sites located at the domain interface. Recently we have identified a novel β-PGM from Pyrococcus sp. ST04 (PsPGM) that is highly thermostable, with an optimal temperature of 95℃. The crystal structure of PsPGM shows two domains: the core domain with a typical β/α barrel-fold of haloacid dehalogenase (HAD) family, and the cap domain with α-helical bundles. The core domain contains the active site with the conserved Asp7 and cofactor Mg2+, exposing the catalytic residue to the surface. Unlike bacterial β-PGMs, the cap domain of PsPGM exists in a significantly tilted, half-closed conformation, which positions Lys82 in close proximity to the substrate binding in the absence of ligand. This unique configuration of the cap domain distinguishes this archaic enzyme from typical bacterial β-PGMs and provides a molecular basis for its enzymatic characteristics at high temperature.

This study develops a sizing system of mass-customized male suits for wheelchair users. One hundred and three male wheelchair users’ 21 anthropometric dimensions were measured to identify body shapes and develop a sizing system. The measured wheelchair users’ body sizes were compared with the average body sizes of Korean males from the 6 th Korean Body Size Survey to understand the body size differences between two groups. As a result of body shape classification using the KS’s Drop method, wheelchair user body shapes were classified into four shapes for upper-body (A: 32%, B: 26%, BB: 24%, and Y: 18%), and two shapes for lower-body (B: 70% and A: 30%). The upper-body of wheel- chair users was relatively developed than Korean males; however, the lower-body was relatively stunted. The key dimen- sions of a sizing system were selected as chest circumference, waist circumference, and trunk length, outside leg length based on the correlation analysis between anthropometric measures. The top sizes were determined considering chest and waist circumferences for horizontal sizes, and additionally the trunk length was divided into short, medium, and long groups for vertical sizes. The bottom sizes were selected considering the waist and hip circumferences for horizontal sizes, and additionally their outside leg length was divided into short, medium, and long groups for vertical sizes.
아토피피부염 환자에서 APDDR-0801 보습 제품의 치료 효능

Background: The patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) show a defective barrier function of the skin and symptoms such as xerosis, pruritus and erythematous lesions with increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL). The choice of topical moisturizer is very significant for AD patients because these symptoms could be relieved by a local moisturizing agent that strengthens the epidermal barrier function. Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the effects of the moisturizer APDDR-0801, which contains physiologic lipid granules (DermaON(R)), for relieving the symptoms associated with AD. Methods: 128 patients (17.8±12.1 years) who were suffering from mild to moderate AD topically applied the test moisturizer twice daily for up to 4 weeks. The treatment efficacy was evaluated by the investigator global assessment (IGA) score, the eczema area and severity index (EASI) score, the transepidermal water loss (TEWL), the visual analogue scale (VAS) for pruritus and sleep disturbance, and the level of inflammatory cytokines in the horny layer of the flexural areas. Results: The test moisturizer was well-tolerated and 58.6% of the patients achieved clinical improvements (over moderate) after the application of the test moisturizer for 4 weeks. The significant relief of AD symptoms was observed from 2 week to 4 week in a time-dependent manner. Significant improvements in the signs and symptoms of AD were observed at 4 week, such as the EASI score (37.8% improvement), the TEWL (20.3% improvement in the antecubital fossa lesion), the VAS score for pruritus (26.2% improvement), and VAS score for insomnia (39.7% improvement). Conclusion: The moisturizer APDDR-0801 (Atobarrier Cream(R), which contains physiologic lipid granules, effectively relieved the symptoms associated with AD. (Korean J Dermatol 2010;48(2):93∼100)
