Sexual violence is a silent war against women. Women around the world survive differently according to their social support, living condition, and socio-economic background. When we look at the gender-based violence, we have to use intersectionality lens without judging women through one particular angle. Intersectionality is to look at women’s multiple identities, recognizing and acknowledging diverse experiences/and identities. Women survivors have their own distinctive experiences that belong only to them. Intersectionality allows to analyse socio-economic background and age along with gender identity. Lived experiences of trauma caused by sexual violence, family and social support are crucial part. This paper discusses theoretical background of intersectionality and how art is used for activism to end violence against wome. Beautiful Hearts Against Sexual Violence (Beautiful Hearts) uses various art mediums and media for activism and artivism (using art for activism), and it employs intersectionality reaching out women from all background. Beautiful Hearts used painting, storytelling, photo documentation, zentangle, music, podcast, tv talk show calling public to end violence against women and children. Artivism opens a door to survivors to express themselves creatively, their voices heard, and support each other.
