This study includes thermal plasticity analyses for a turbine rotor with the simple geometry and the boundary conditions. When centrifugal or thermal stress are applied at the high temperarture material of engine blade, stress distributions in material σ_rr, σ_θθ, τ_rθ. Mises stress) are analyzed by computer simulation(ABAQUS) as followings; 1. The maximum stress at the radial direction (σ_rr) is applied at the upper middle part of spline hole. 2. The maximum stress at the tangential direction (σ_θθ) is applied at the upper right boundary of spline hole. 3. The maximum shear stress (τrθ) in (-) direction is applied at the upper middle part of spline hole. 4. The maximum Mises stress is applied at the upper right boundary of spline hole. This stress is due to the critical stress by which rotor can be fractured according to elapsed time.
Case Report : Optic Neuropathy Associated with Castleman Disease

A 44-year-old woman with Castleman disease presented with acute visual loss in the left eye. A full ophthalmologic examination and imaging were performed. Visual acuity was 20/20 in the right eye and 20/100 in the left eye. Total dyschromatopsia, a relative afferent pupillary defect, and a cecocentral scotoma were observed in the left eye. Mild disc edema, without leaking during fluorescein angiography, was also observed. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a small cystic epidermoid-like lesion in the right prepontine and suprasellar cistern. Her visual acuity did not improve and deteriorated to 20/200 in the left eye at 22 months after the initial visual loss. Optic neuropathy may rarely be associated with Castleman disease and suggests a poor prognosis.

The existing interpretations and translations do not give adequate explanations about hidden meanings of the oriental theory, making it not easy for other researchers not majoring in oriental medicine to understand oriental medical classics. For other researchers who are trying to understand oriental medical classics and perform interdisciplinary co-research, we suggest there should be more detailed explanations about the hidden meaning of oriental theory such as Eumyang(陰陽, Yinyang) theory, Five-phase[五行] theory, Un-gi(運氣) theory. This paper, interpreting and translating the east(東), the west(西), the south(南), the north(北) in 『HwangjenaegyeongㆍSomun(黃帝內經ㆍ素問)』 focusing on the meaning of each character, will be a good example of such detailed explanation.

This study was conducted to observe the quality characteristics of cheonggukjang fermented with new small-seed soybeans (‘Agakong’) according to the degree of germination of the raw soybeans. The sprouting rate was 8.6±5.6% after 12 hr of germination, but at 24 hr it increased rapidly to 85.4±4.7%. We confirmed that the total isoflavone content immediately after soaking was 273.9 mg%, which was at least 3 times greater than for common soybeans; content increased at the start of germination, and increased to 338.4 mg% by 24 hr of germination, but then decreased. The quantity of viscous substance of the cheonggukjang increased in proportion to the degree of germination of the raw soybeans. The levels of amino acids in the cheonggukjang made from non-germinated soybeans, and soybeans germinated 48 hr, were 12.45 and 10.06%, respectively. The isoflavone levels in the cheonggukjang were determined by the degree of germination of the raw soybeans. There were no significant differences between the odor, sweet taste, savory taste, bitter taste, and overall acceptability of the cheonggukjang with different germination times of 0 to 36 hr.

Mesoporous alumina xerogel (AX) supports prepared by a sol–gel method were calcined at various temperatures to control their acid property. Palladium catalysts supported on mesoporous alumina xerogel (Pd/AX) were then prepared by an impregnation method. The Pd/AX catalysts were characterized by XRD, BET, NH3-TPD, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm, and H2 chemisorption analyses. Liquid-phase hydrogenation of succinic acid to g-butyrolactone (GBL) over Pd/AX catalyst was carried out in a batch reactor. The effect of acid property of Pd/AX catalyst on the catalytic performance was examined. In the hydrogenation of succinic acid, conversion of succinic acid and yield for GBL showed volcano-shaped curves with respect to calcination temperature of AX support. Selectivity for succinic anhydride (an intermediate product formed by acid catalysis) increased with increasing acid density of Pd/AX catalyst. Correlations between acid density of Pd/AX catalyst and catalytic performance also revealed that conversion of succinic acid and yield for GBL increased with increasing acid density of Pd/AX catalyst. Thus, acid density served as an important factor determining the catalytic performance of Pd/AX in the hydrogenation of succinic acid.

This study was conducted to observe quality characteristics of whole soybean meju fermented with germinated soybean (Glycine max: Hwanggeumkong). The germination rate after 24 hr was 23.0±1.2%, then increased rapidly to 90.2±1.3% at 36 hr of germination, and finally reached a level of 99.4±0.3% at 60 hr of germination. It was confirmed that the total isoflavone content immediately after soaking was 100.1 mg%, increasing during the beginning of the germination process; it continued to increase to 114.0 mg% by 24 hr of germination, but decreased thereafter. The isoflavone content at 60 hr of germination was 101.6 mg%. A total of 6 organic acids were detected, and total organic acid content ranged from 963.1-1,145.3 mg%. Differences based on the degree of germination in the raw material were insignificant. The free amino acid levels of the whole soybean meju made from non-germinated soybeans and from soybeans that had germinated 48 hr were 2,580.9 and 2,519.7 mg%, respectively. The content of glutamic acid was highest followed by aspartic acid, lysine, leucine, and proline.
