Objectives: Inflammation is important event in the development of vascular diseases including hypertension, atherosclerosis, and restenosis. Bodusan (BDS) was a traditional Korean herbal medicine and widely used in treatment of gastrointestinal complaint and stomach ulcer. The aim of this study was to determine whether BDS and its components inhibit production of nitrite, PGE2 and proinflammatory cytokines in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 macrophages. Methods: Cytotoxic activity of BDS and its components on RAW 264.7 cells was using 5-(3-caroboxymcrophages.eth-oxyphenyl)-2H-tetra-zolium inner salt (MTS) assay. The nitric oxide (NO) production was measured by Griess reagent system. And proinflammatory cytokines were measured by ELISA kit. The levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression were detected by western blot. Results: Our results indicated that BDS and its components significantly inhibited the LPS-induced NO and PGE2 production. Moreover, BDS and its components inhibited iNOS and COX-2 expression accompanied by an attenuation of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and MCP-1 formation in macrophages. Conclusions: These results indicate that BDS and its components have potential as an anti-inflammatory agent.

The wavelet theory is relatively a new development and now acquires popularity and much interest in many areas including mathematics and engineering. This work presents an adaptive wavelet method for a numerical solution of partial differential equations in a collocation sense. Due to the multi-resolution nature of wavelets, an adaptive strategy can be easily realized it is easy to add or delete the wavelet coefficients as resolution levels progress. Typical wavelet-collocation methods use interpolating wavelets having no vanishing moment, but we propose a new wavelet-collocation method on modified interpolating wavelets having 2 vanishing moments. The use of the modified interpolating wavelets obtained by the lifting scheme requires a smaller number of wavelet coefficients as well as a smaller condition number of system matrices. The latter property makes a preconditioned conjugate gradient solver more useful for efficient analysis.

We propose a new multiscale Galerkin method based on interpolation wavelets for two-dimensional Poisson's and plane elasticity problems. The major contributions of the present work are: 1) full multiresolution numerical analysis is carried out, 2) general boundaries are handled by a fictitious domain method without using a penalty term or the Lagrange multiplier, 3) no special integration rule is necessary unlike in the (bi-)orthogonal wavelet-based methods, and 4) an efficient adaptive scheme is easy to incorporate. Several benchmark-type problems are considered to show the effectiveness and the potentials of the present approach. is 1-2m/s and impact deformation of the electrode depends on the strain rate at that velocity, the dynamic behavior of the sinter-forged Cu-Cr is a key to investigate the impact characteristics of the electrodes. The dynamic response of the material at the high strain rate is obtained from the split Hopkinson pressure bar test using disc-type specimens. Experimental results from both quasi-static and dynamic compressive tests are Interpolated to construct the Johnson-Cook model as the constitutive relation that should be applied to simulation of the dynamic behavior of the electrodes. The impact characteristics of a vacuum interrupter are investigated with computer simulations by changing the value of five parameters such as the initial velocity of a movable electrode, the added mass of a movable electrode, the wipe spring constant, initial offset of a wipe spring and the virtual fixed spring constant.

Purpose : Myofascial decompression is frequently mentioned as a method applied to cupping. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare active range of motion (AROM), muscle strength, and functional movement by applying myofascial decompression to the hamstrings. Methods : This study evaluated AROM, muscle strength, and functional movement by applying active movement myofascial decompression and static myofascial decompression to the dominant leg, respectively, in a crossover design conducted with normal adults (n=21) in their average 20s enrolled at G University in G city, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Active movement myofascial decompression was implemented for five minutes at a rate of 100 bpm to make the beats in flexion and extension respectively. Static myofascial decompression was only performed for five minutes while at rest. All of these interventions were performed at a cupping depth of two ㎜. After a one-week washout period, static was applied again to compare the same dependent variables. Results : Regarding AROM and muscle strength, both groups showed significant differences in the before and after results (p<.05). However, in the Functional Reach Aspect and Single Leg Hop test, the active movement myofascial decompression group showed better results. There was no statistical difference between the Active movement myofascial decompression group and Static myofascial decompression group in any dependent variable (p<.05). Conclusion : As a result of this experiment, both active movement myofascial decompression and static myofascial decompression had a positive effect on dependent variable. Therefore this study is meaningful in that it is easier and simpler to see the effect on flexibility, muscle strength, and functional movement just by implementing movement myofascial decompression.
