Vibration analysis of functionally graded nanocomposite plate moving in two directions

Ali Ghorbanpour Arani,Elham Haghparast,Hassan Baba Akbar Zarei 국제구조공학회 2017 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.23 No.5

In the present study, vibration analysis of functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite (FGCNTRC) plate moving in two directions is investigated. Various types of shear deformation theories are utilized to obtain more accurate and simplest theory. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are selected as a reinforcement of composite face sheets inside Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) matrix. Moreover, different kinds of distributions of CNTs are considered. Based on extended rule of mixture, the structural properties of composite face sheets are considered. Motion equations are obtained by Hamilton's principle and solved analytically. Influences of various parameters such as moving speed in x and y directions, volume fraction and distribution of CNTs, orthotropic viscoelastic surrounding medium, thickness and aspect ratio of composite plate on the vibration characteristics of moving system are discussed in details. The results indicated that thenatural frequency or stability of FGCNTRC plate is strongly dependent on axially moving speed. Moreover, a better configuration of the nanotube embedded in plate can be used to increase the critical speed, as a result, the stability is improved. The results of this investigation can be used in design and manufacturing of marine vessels and aircrafts.

Relationship Between Critical Pedagogy and Reflective Thinking with L2 Teachers’ Pedagogical Success

Ali Roohani,Shahrzad Haghparast 아시아영어교육학회 2020 The Journal of Asia TEFL Vol.17 No.1

This study first sought to develop a survey (Teacher Critical Pedagogy, TCP) to evaluate L2 teachers’ degree of critical pedagogy. Second, it investigated the relationship between L2 teachers’ degree of critical pedagogy and reflective thinking with their pedagogical success. Third, it explored the extent to which teachers’ critical pedagogy and reflective thinking contributed to their pedagogical success. To these ends, factor analysis with the data collected from a sample of 397 Iranian EFL teachers was used through AMOS software to confirm the validity of the critical pedagogy questionnaire. Then, validated version of TCP, Kember, Leung, Jones, and Loke’s (2000) Reflective Thinking for Teachers, and Moafian and Pishghadam’s (2009) Characteristics of Successful Teachers questionnaires were administered to a sample of 53 EFL teachers and 503 EFL students in language institutes in Isfahan, Iran, to assess the teachers’ critical pedagogy and reflective thinking as well as their pedagogical success as evaluated by their students. Correlational and multiple regression analysis revealed a significant and positive relationship between the teachers’ critical pedagogy and reflective thinking with their pedagogical success. Moreover, critical pedagogy and reflective thinking predicted the teachers' pedagogical success to a considerable extent. Findings provide implications for L2 teachers and teacher educators.

Vibration of axially moving 3-phase CNTFPC plate resting on orthotropic foundation

Ali Ghorbanpour Arani,Elham Haghparast,Hassan Baba Akbar Zarei 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.57 No.1

In the present study, modelling and vibration control of axially moving laminated Carbon nanotubes/fiber/polymer composite (CNTFPC) plate under initial tension are investigated. Orthotropic visco-Pasternak foundation is developed to consider the influences of orthotropy angle, damping coefficient, normal and shear modulus. The governing equations of the laminated CNTFPC plates are derived based on new form of first-order shear deformation plate theory (FSDT) which is simpler than the conventional one due to reducing the number of unknowns and governing equations, and significantly, it does not require a shear correction factor. Halpin-Tsai model is utilized to evaluate the material properties of two-phase composite consist of uniformly distributed and randomly oriented CNTs through the epoxy resin matrix. Afterwards, the structural properties of CNT reinforced polymer matrix which is assumed as a new matrix and then reinforced with E-Glass fiber are calculated by fiber micromechanics approach. Employing Hamilton’s principle, the equations of motion are obtained and solved by Hybrid analytical numerical method. Results indicate that the critical speed of moving laminated CNTFPC plate can be improved by adding appropriate values of CNTs. These findings can be used in design and manufacturing of marine vessels and aircrafts.

Curcumin Exerts Neuroprotective Effects Against Homocysteine Intracerebroventricular Injection-Induced Cognitive Impairment and Oxidative Stress in Rat Brain

        Amin Ataie,Masoumeh Sabetkasaei,Abbas Haghparast,Akbar Hajizadeh Moghaddam,Ramin Ataee,Shiva Nasiraei Moghaddam 한국식품영양과학회 2010 Journal of medicinal food Vol.13 No.4

Aging is the major risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases and oxidative stress and is involved in their pathophysiology. Oxidative stress can induce neuronal damage and modulate intracellular signaling, ultimately leading to neuronal death by apoptosis or necrosis. In this study we investigated the neuroprotective properties of the natural polyphenolic antioxidant compound, curcumin, against homocysteine (Hcy) neurotoxicity. Curcumin (5, 15, or 45mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally once daily for a period of 10 days beginning 5 days prior to Hcy (0.2μmol/μL) intracerebroventricular injection in rats. Biochemical and behavioral studies, including passive avoidance learning and locomotor activity tests, were evaluated 24 hours after the last injection of curcumin or vehicle. Results indicated that Hcy induces lipid peroxidation and increases malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide anion (SOA) levels in whole rat brain. In addition, Hcy impaired memory retention in the passive avoidance learning test. However, curcumin treatment significantly decreased MDA and SOA levels and improved learning and memory in rats. These results suggest that Hcy may induce lipid peroxidation in rat brain and that polyphenol treatment (curcumin) improves learning and memory deficits by protecting the nervous system against oxidative stress.

      • Evaluation of KRAS Gene Mutations in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Patients in Kermanshah Province

Amirifard, Nasrin,Sadeghi, Edris,Farshchian, Negin,Haghparast, Abbas,Choubsaz, Mansour Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.7

Background: Worldwide, colorectal cancer (CRC) is reported to be the fourth most common cancer in men and the third most common in women. KRAS is a proto-oncogene located on the short arm of chromosome 12. The aim of this study was to evaluate the KRAS oncogene and its relationship it with clinicopathologic features in 33 Kurdish patients. Materials and Methods: Metastatic CRC between 2012 and 2016 that came to Imam Reza hospital, Kermanshah province, Iran, were analysed for KRAS mutations using allele specific PCR primers and pyrosequencing. Correlations between variables was analyzed in PASW SPSS and overall survival curves were plotted in Graph Pad prism 5. Results: The mean age for them at diagnosis was $51.5{\pm}12.6$ years (range, 22-76 years). Among the 33 patients that were sequenced, 12 samples in the KRAS gene had a nucleotide change, 11 in codon 12 and 1 in codon 13.There was no significant relationship between the mutation and clinical and pathological aspects of the disease. Conclusions: Knowledge of the KRAS status can help in decision-making to treat metastatic colorectal cancer patients more efficiently and increase survival. However, many Kurdish people due to economic problems are not able to do this valuable genetic test. In addition, we need more careful research of KRAS oncogene at the molecular level in young populations with more patients.

Polarizability of a hydrogenic donor impurity in a ridge quantum wire

        R. Khordad,A. Gharaati,M. Haghparast 한국물리학회 2010 Current Applied Physics Vol.10 No.1

We use in this paper the variational method to calculate the polarizability of a hydrogenic donor impurity,in the presence of electric field, in a V-groove GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs quantum wire. The carrier ground states are analytically obtained by an effective potential scheme together with a suitable coordinate transformation that allows the decoupling of the two-dimensional Schrodinger equation. According to the results obtained from the present work for polarizability and binding energy reveals that the impurity position and field direction play important roles.

Identifying Superior Rainfed Barley Genotypes in Farmers' Fields Using Participatory Varietal Selection

        Mohammadi, Reza,Mahmoodi, Kouresh Nader,Haghparast, Reza,Grando, Stefania,Rahmanian, Maryam,Ceccarelli, Salvatore 한국작물학회 2011 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.14 No.4

This study was carried out to identify superior barley genotypes for the rainfed areas of western Iran using a participatory varietal selection (PVS) approach. Three field experiments were conducted in two randomly selected farmers' fields and in one rainfed research station in the 2006 - 07 cropping season with 69 genotypes (including one local and one improved check). Several univariate and multivariate methods were used to analyze qualitative (farmers' scores) and quantitative (grain yield) data. Individual farmers' scores in each village were positively correlated, indicating that the farmers tended to discriminate genotypes in similar fashion, although the genotypes actually selected by farmers were different in the two villages. In recent years, a greater number of farmers in western Iran preferred the improved variety (Sararood-1) over the local barley (Mahali), while in this project the farmers preferred the new genotypes over the two checks. This was also verified by the quantitative data showing that the checks were outyielded by the new genotypes. Farmers were efficient in identifying the best genotypes for their specific environment, as shown by biplot analysis, indicating their competence in selection. The genotypes selected by the breeder and farmers were almost similar but some differences existed. In conclusion, PVS is a powerful way to involve farmers for selecting and testing new cultivars that are adapted to their needs, systems and environments.

Role of suprascapular nerve block in idiopathic frozen shoulder treatment: a clinical trial survey

        Mohsen Mardani-Kivi,Bahram Naderi Nabi,Mir-Hashem Mousavi,Ardeshir Shirangi,Ehsan Kazemnejad Leili,Zahra Haghparast Ghadim-Limudahi 대한견주관절학회 2022 대한견주관절의학회지 Vol.25 No.2

Background: Several therapeutic methods have been proposed for frozen shoulder syndrome. These include suprascapular nerve block, a simple and cost-effective technique that eliminates the need for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy. Methods: This was a clinical trial that included patients with unilateral shoulder joint stiffness. Patients were divided into three groups: those treated with isolated physiotherapy for 12 weeks (PT group), those treated with a single dose intra-articular injection of corticosteroid together with physiotherapy (IACI group), and those treated with a suprascapular nerve block performed with a single indirect injection of 8-mL lidocaine HCL 1% and 2 mL (80 mg) methylprednisolone acetate together with physiotherapy (SSNB group). The variables assessed were age, sex, side of involvement, dominant limb, presence of diabetes, physical examination findings including erythema, swelling, and muscle wasting; palpation and movement findings; shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI) score; and the visual analog scale (VAS) score pre-intervention and at 2-, 4-, 6-, and 12-week post-intervention. Results: Ninety-seven patients were included in this survey (34 cases in the PT group, 32 cases in the IACI group, and 31 cases in the SSNB group). Mean age was 48.55±11.06 years. Fifty-seven cases were female (58.8%) and 40 were male (41.2%). Sixty-eight patients had a history of diabetes (70.1%). VAS and SPADI scores and range of mototion degrees dramatically improved in all cases (p<0.001). Results were best in the SSNB group (p<0.001), and the IACI group showed better results than the PT group (p<0.001). Conclusions: Suprascapular nerve block is an effective therapy with long-term pain relief and increased mobility of the shoulder joint in patients with adhesive capsulitis.
