      • A REVIEW OF STUDIES ON OCEAN TIDES AND MEAN SEA LEVEL IN CHINA

Guo Hong Fang,Wen Zhen Zheng 한국해안해양공학회 1999 학술강연회 발표논문초록집 Vol.1 No.1

The observation, analysis, prediction and dynamical studies on ocean tides and tidal currents in China in the recent 50 years are reviewed in the present paper. The major achievements and problems are reported. During recent 50 years, many tidal stations have been established and many short-period current observations have been carried out. The confusion in gauge zero existing in historical tidal data is considered as a most serious problem, and long-period current observations are still limited. Methods for analyzing and predicting tides and tidal currents have been developed. Tide and tidal current tables and charts published are sufficient for practical applications. Progresses in theoretical studies have also been achieved, in particular, on the effects of the friction on tides and tidal currents. Numerical modeling has become a popular measure in tidal prediction. Many studies on relative sea level rise have been carried out. Most of investigations indicate that the rising rates are around zero for the northern China coast and in the range of 1-2 ㎜/a for the southern China coast. However, acquisition of more reliable long-term sea level data is still required.

Microwave-assisted Approach for the Rapid Enzymatic Digestion of Rapeseed Meal

        Ju-Fang Li,Fang Wei,Lu-Lu Guo,Gang-You Yuan,Feng-Hong Huang,Mu-Lan Jiang,Yuan-Di Zhao,Xu-Yan Dong,Guang-Ming Li,Hong Chen 한국식품과학회 2010 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.19 No.2

This study demonstrates the use of a new microwave-assisted approach for accelerating the enzymatic digestion of rapeseed meal. The effects of different microwave parameters, such as the time, temperature, and power level, on the degree of hydrolysis (DH) were investigated by using response surface methodology (RSM). The maximum predicted DH value (10.2%) was in good agreement with the value obtained experimentally using an alkaline protease, which was 12.57% under optimal conditions. In only 7 min, the microwave-assisted method achieved a DH value similar to that obtained by the conventional enzymatic digestion method (4 hr). Therefore, this new technique for rapid enzymatic digestion will improve the application of rapeseed meal in the preparation of protein hydrolysates for use in food and feed.

Gut Microbiota Community and Its Assembly Associated with Age and Diet in Chinese Centenarians

( Fang Wang ),( Ting Yu ),( Guo Hong Huang ),( Da Cai ),( Xiaolin Liang ),( Hai Yan Su ),( Zhenjun Zhu ),( Danlei Li ),( Yang Yang ),( Pei Hong Shen ),( Rui Feng Mao ),( Lian Yu ),( Mou Ming Zhao ),( 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2015 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.25 No.8

Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota underpin the development of health and longevity. However, our understanding of what influences the composition of this community of the longevous has not been adequately described. Therefore, illumina sequencing analysis was performed on the gut microbiota of centenarians (aged 100-108 years; RC) and younger elderlies (aged 85-99 years; RE) living in Bama County, Guangxi, China and the elderlies (aged 80-92 years; CE) living in Nanning City, Guangxi, China. In addition, their diet was monitored using a semiquantitative dietary questionary (FFQ 23). The results revealed the abundance of Roseburia and Escherichia was significantly greater, whereas that of Lactobacillus, Faecalibacterium, Parabacteroides, Butyricimonas, Coprococcus, Megamonas, Mitsuokella, Sutterella, and Akkermansia was significantly less in centenarians at the genus level. Both clustering analysis and UniFraq distance analysis showed structural segregation with age and diet among the three populations. Using partial least square discriminate analysis and redundancy analysis, we identified 33 and 34 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) as key OTUs that were significantly associated with age and diet, respectively. Age-related OTUs were characterized as Ruminococcaceae, Clostridiaceae, and Lachnospiraceae, and the former two were increased in the centenarians; diet-related OTUs were classified as Bacteroidales, Lachnospiraceae, and Ruminococcaceae. The former two were deceased, whereas the later one was increased, in the high-fiber diet. The age and high-fiber diet were concomitant with changes in the gut microbiota of centenarians, suggesting that age and high-fiber diet can establish a new structurally balanced architecture of gut microbiota that may benefit the health of centenarians.

      • PKM2 Regulates Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Epithelial-mesenchymal Transition and Migration upon EGFR Activation

        Fan, Fang-Tian,Shen, Cun-Si,Tao, Li,Tian, Chao,Liu, Zhao-Guo,Zhu, Zhi-Jie,Liu, Yu-Ping,Pei, Chang-Song,Wu, Hong-Yan,Zhang, Lei,Wang, Ai-Yun,Zheng, Shi-Zhong,Huang, Shi-Le,Lu, Yin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.5

Pyruvate kinase isozyme type M2 (PKM2) was first found in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and its expression has been thought to correlate with prognosis. A large number of studies have demonstrated that epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a crucial event in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and associated metastasis, resulting in enhanced malignancy of HCC. However, the roles of PKM2 in HCC EMT and metastasis remain largely unknown. The present study aimed to determine the effects of PKM2 in EGF-induced HCC EMT and elucidate the molecular mechanisms in vitro. Our results showed that EGF promoted EMT in HCC cell lines as evidenced by altered morphology, expression of EMT-associated markers, and enhanced invasion capacity. Furthermore, the present study also revealed that nuclear translocation of PKM2, which is regulated by the ERK pathway, regulated ${\beta}$-catenin-TCF/LEF-1 transcriptional activity and associated EMT in HCC cell lines. These discoveries provide evidence of novel roles of PKM2 in the progression of HCC and potential therapeutic target for advanced cases.

A correction method for power skiving of cylindrical gears lead modification

Erkuo Guo,Rongjing Hong,Xiaodiao Huang,Chenggang Fang 대한기계학회 2015 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.29 No.10

The latest research clearly demonstrates the excellent capability of the gear skiving technology. To improve the twisted flanks of cylindricalgears when performing a lead modification in skiving process, a correction method is proposed. First, a kinematic model ofpower skiving and correction tooth surface are established based on the engagement principle of crossed helical gear. The phenomenonof flank twist in the skiving process is investigated and the counter lines of modified error on both flanks are obtained. Then, a correctionmethod for cylindrical gears lead modification is proposed to correct the twisted tooth flanks by optimizing the cutter profile. In thismethod, the cutter profile is formulated as B-spline curves using a curve fitting technique, and a sensitivity matrix and correction polynomialcoefficients are derived. Thus, the skiving tooth flank can be approximated to the desired tooth flank by adjusting the coefficientsof the polynomials. Finally, a numerical example shows that the optimization method of cutter profile can effectively reduce the modifiederrors as well as improve the modification twist in gear skiving process.

Research on the design of skiving tool for machining involute gears

Erkuo Guo,Rongjing Hong,Xiaodiao Huang,Chenggang Fang 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.12

Although the power skiving of gear process has demonstrated excellent capability in the latest research, the key to the successful applicationof skiving is the design of suitable tools. We propose a method to design and calculate the skiving tool for machining involutegears. First, according to the principle of power skiving for internal gear, the helical skiving cutter was designed with the modificationcoefficient and the tapered teeth that were oriented under a helix angle. The structure can avoid friction and interference, as well as ensurethe even cutting load during the processing of skiving. Then, the kinematical model of power skiving was established and the profile ofcutter with a rake angle was calculated based on the crossed helical gear engagement theory. Finally, using a helical cutter to simulate themachine for an internal spur gear, the results demonstrate that the proposed design method of skiving cutter can avoid interference andmeet the requirement of power skiving.

Numerical Study of the Role of Microphysical Latent Heating and Surface Heat Fluxes in a Severe Precipitation Event in the Warm Sector over Southern China

        Jin-Fang Yin,Donghai Wang,Zhao-Ming Liang,Chong-Jian Liu,Guo-Qing Zhai,Hong Wang 한국기상학회 2018 Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences Vol.54 No.1

Simulations of the severe precipitation event that occurred in the warm sector over southern China on 08 May 2014 are conducted using the Advanced Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF-ARWv3.5.1) model to investigate the roles of microphysical latent heating and surface heat fluxes during the severe precipitation processes. At first, observations from surface rain gauges and groundbased weather radars are used to evaluate the model outputs. Results show that the spatial distribution of 24-h accumulated precipitation is well reproduced, and the temporal and spatial distributions of the simulated radar reflectivity agree well with the observations. Then, several sensitive simulations are performed with the identical model configurations, except for different options in microphysical latent heating and surface heat fluxes. From the results, one of the significant findings is that the latent heating from warm rain microphysical processes heats the atmosphere in the initial phase of the precipitation and thus convective systems start by self-triggering and selforganizing, despite the fact that the environmental conditions are not favorable to the occurrence of precipitation event at the initial phase. In the case of the severe precipitation event over the warm sector, both warm and ice microphysical processes are active with the ice microphysics processes activated almost two hours later. According to the sensitive results, there is a very weak precipitation without heavy rainfall belt when microphysical latent heating is turned off. In terms of this precipitation event, the warm microphysics processes play significant roles on precipitation intensity, while the ice microphysics processes have effects on the spatial distribution of precipitation. Both surface sensible and latent heating have effects on the precipitation intensity and spatial distribution. By comparison, the surface sensible heating has a strong influence on the spatial distribution of precipitation, and the surface latent heating has only a slight impact on the precipitation intensity. The results indicate that microphysical latent heating might be an important factor for severe precipitation forecast in the warm sector over southern China. Surface sensible heating can have considerable influence on the precipitation spatial distribution and should not be neglected in the case of weak large-scale conditions with abundant water vapor in the warm sector.

      • Health-related Quality of Life among Breast Cancer Patients and its Influencing Factor in a Chinese Population

        Shen, Fang-Rong,Liu, Ming,Zhang, Xia,Feng, Ya-Hong,Zhou, Long-Shu,Chen, You-Guo Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the quality of life (QOL) of breast cancer patients by using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-B) questionnaires. Methods: A total of 522 adult patients who were admitted to our hospital with breast cancer were collected during the period of Jun. 2007 to Dec. 2009. Results: Our FACT-B questionnaire study suggested that women below 50 years old, employed, higher education and annual income, lower TNM stage and receiving modified radical mastectomy manifested significantly better QOL using the assessment tool of the FACT-B subscale. Moreover, regression analysis indicated patients with young age, low stage cancer, high education and income were more likely to have high score of QOL, with ORs (95% CI) of 2.8 (1.52-4.56), 2.1 (1.15-3.95), 3.1 (1.45-5.12) and 3.54 (1.54-5.43), respectively. Conclusions: Our study showed younger age, lower stage of cancer, higher education and income could influence the QOL of breast cancer patients in our Chinese population. Further large sample studies are still needed for confirmation.

Adaptive H-infinity SMC-based Model Reference Tracker for Uncertain Nonlinear Systems with Input Nonlinearity

        Jiunn-Shiou Fang,Jason Sheng-Hong Tsai,Jun-Juh Yan,Shu-Mei Guo 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2021 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.19 No.4

This paper presents a novel robust H∞ model reference adaptive tracker (MRAT) for a class of nonlinearsystems with input nonlinearities, uncertainties, and mismatched disturbances. Since the bounds of input nonlinearities and uncertainties are unknown, a new adaptive controller is proposed to solve these problems. Because the proposed adaptive laws are with convergence, the adaptive gains estimated can avoid overestimation. Furthermore, the sliding mode control (SMC) is implemented integrated with a smooth function, then the undesirable chattering phenomenon is reduced. Finally, the proposed tracking controller can process the undesirable effects of external disturbances and promote the tracking performance even subjected to the unknown input nonlinearity. The numerical simulation results demonstrate the robustness and validity of the proposed tracking controller.
