The purpose of this study is to analyze the particulate matter characteristics of brake pad dust generated during braking through the braking test. The test was carried out with a brake dynamometer and a dust collector developed in-house. For the design of the test conditions, three factors including the braking deceleration, the brake temperature and the braking speed were selected. The test and analysis were carried out under the designed test conditions, and the results of the particulate matter generation rate according to the braking conditions were obtained. As a result, the rate of particulate matter decreases as braking deceleration increases, and the rate of particulate matter increases as brake temperature and braking speed increase. However, the brake pads may be worn differently depending on the braking conditions, which may affect the total amount of particulate matter.
