This paper presents performance and loss analysis of Auxiliary Resonant Commutation Snubber-linked (ARCS) three phase voltage source soft switching inverter which is operated under a condition of Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS). The system performances of this ARCS soft switching inverter which is controlled on optimal type I digital servo scheme are illustrated and evaluated on the basis of experimental results.<br/>

This paper presents a novel topological prototype of voltage source series quasi-resonant zero current soft-switching pulse frequency modulated dc-dc power converter circuit using IGBTs which incorporates a high-frequency flyback transformer link. Its steady-state operating principle is described on the basis of simulation analysis, along with the open loop controlled power regulation characteristics of the multi-functional coupled inductors linked dc-dc power converter operating under a principle of zero current soft switching commutation.<br/>

The high-frequency transformers used for isolated DC-DC converters tend to have large volume compared with the other components. Therefore, increasing the power density of the transformer is indispensable for increasing the power density of the DC-DC converter. Reducing the dead space of the transformer is one of the effective solutions. It is well-known that the thinly extended core structure reduces the dead space around the transformer formed by the windings protruding to the outside of the core. However, it has not been clarified how much the thinly extended core structure affects the reducing power loss of the transformer. In this paper, the effect of introducing the thinly extended core structure into the transformer is quantified by the optimization of the convertible design parameters of the transformer with systematic round-robin calculation. The result revealed the volume reduction effect by the thinly extended core was greater than the simply dead space reduction effect.

This paper presents a circuit of the quasi-resonant DC link to achieve soft-switching three phase inverter using intelligent IGBT power module. The soft-switching operation in this circuit is confirmed simulation and experimental results. Its conductive noise is measured for electrical AC motor drive as compared with that of the conventional hard switching inverter.<br/>
Characteristic Analysis of Integrated Magnetic Component for Forward Converter

A power converter is required to be compact, lightweight and low loss, and the various approaches have thus been carried out so far. For a forward converters (FC) used for step-down of medium-capacity, many papers that aims at its miniaturization by coupling the isolation transformers and the output reactors have been reported. Each method of the integrated magnetic components (IMC) shows that the position of the windings and the gaps are different and the total volume becomes smaller than that before coupling. However, it is not clear which method should be adopted to obtain the desired performance and what kind of characteristics it can judge from. Therefore, we classified the FC’s IMC from the way of the coupling and investigate the operation of the FC depending on the winding of the IMC in this paper. As results from simulation and experimental analysis, the winding position suitable for the FC, the way of reducing the volume of the magnetic component and suppressing the ripple of the input/output current became clear.

This paper describes a feasible development on a quick response speed control system for general purpose induction motor which is operated on the basic of sensorless slip frequency type vector control PWM inverter with an automatic tuning machine parameter estimation schemes.<br/> Firstly, the sensorless vector control theory on the voltage-fed inverter is proposed based upon slip frequency made vector control principle. In particular, the essential procedure and method to measure and estimate the exact stator and rotor circuit parameters of induction motor are considered.<br/> Secondly, the speed control system, which has high performance in dynamic speed response and steady state speed for largely changed load torque disturbance, is developed.<br/> Finally, these characteristics of the speed control system, employing sensorless vector control based on three-phase high frequency carrier PWM inverter using IGBT's, are examined and confirmed.

This paper presents an innovative prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction heated type far infrared rays radiant heating appliance using the voltage-fed edge-resonant ZVS-PWM high frequency inverter using IGBTs for food cooking and processing which operates under a constant frequency variable power regulation scheme This power electronic appliance with soft switching high frequency inverter using IGBTs has attracted special interest from some advantageous viewpoints of safety, cleanliness, compactness and rapid temperature response, which is more suitable for consumer power electronics applications.<br/>
